Really? I thought the speech and the begin of the charge was good, but the rest was kinda like 'meh.'

I do think it's because the Helm's Deep battle was so awesome. Just the way they showed the strategic battle plan of the Orcs and the planning/execution of the defense. It was just amazing.
Yeah the speech part was what made it. But Helm's Deep > both. Actual strategy and loss involved.

I've been to New Zealand in 2013-2014 when the 2nd hobbit movie was released, upon arriving at the airport they already had middle earth themed props at the airport including Gollum reaching out for the ring, flew on air New Zealand and they showed a middle earth themed flight safety informercial.

Watched the 2nd hobbit a day before New Years and it was so beautiful. The mountains you see in hobbit and LOTR are real, taking the ferry from north island to South Island was gorgeous. Went to matamata where hobbititon was filmed. The film set is still there (or it was when I went) absolutely stunning, went to the green dragon inn and drank cider.

I have seen them all so much. Fellowship by a large margin. Will 100% still be watching these when I am an old man. No fantasy movie has come close, they really do hold up so well.

Still remember watching fellowship for the first time as a young kid not knowing what to expect and mind was blown. Movies hold up so well too, definitely my fave trilogy of all time.
