I wonder why Australia doesn't have "physician assistants"

We do however have "nurse practitioners", who command more authority, earn good $$, and can do a whole lot more.

Re: 9-5 grind... after dental school I'll be on that for a few years. Then my dream is to drop back, and work just 3-4 days max per week. Some jobs list $100k-160k/year for part time dentists with several years experience. There is more to life than work, so fuk it! Buck the system however you can

Imo the problem isn't with 9-5, the problem is people fuarking hating their jobs. If you love your job, why would 9-5 be an issue?
Simple solution is pursue a career that you are at least somewhat interested in & actively try your best to make the most of your life by making career choices that'll make you happier, rather than solely making you richer.
Yes I'm aware it's easier said than done, but that doesn't make it impossible

Yes because I'd be smart enough to use that $200k (+ multiple successive year's 200k) to make another $200k yearly that I don't have to/barely have to work for

I worked in engineering for 10 years and quit about 2 months ago. Still not sure what I'm going to do yet but I am so much better off not having to drive 1 hour and 30 mins each way and sitting in a cube for 9-10 hours a day. I might try to find another engineering job that is very very very specific, or I am going to start my own company doing something. I think I am just getting to the point of where I am sick of working for other people, especially when your "manager" lives with their head up their ass.
Good things take time.

There is no escape brahsjust accept your fate and keep doing what you are doing until something better comes along. Yeah atleast you are getting a salary with which your needs are being met, would you rather be broke without having all the stuff you have now? I am guessing you still have a roof over your head, eat good food on the weekends and go out a few times. Imagine losing all that and having to borrow money from friends or family?

Thats like saying Lol at your dad complaining about 7-11 even on weekends, he has too much time.

Slaves in Libya work 7-7, everyday even on weekends.

Just because someone has it worse than you doesn;t mean you just accept things. If you want to improve your situation you want to improve it.

Your Dad is throwing his life away.

Get a job where you have to travel a bit.

I am out of the office on average 75 days a year between day trips for trainings and over night travel for conferences.

I get 4 weeks of annual leave a year so that helps break up the office life as well.

I think the biggest problem is being mentally challenged at work and then being properly compensated for it. I do bunch of stuff my boss should be doing but I like it because it keeps chit interesting for me. Too bad I don’t get any reward for it lol

I have had a few opportunities that probably would have been smarter choices for money but I live a good but cheap lifestyle. I don’t buy a lot of things and I save over 1/2 what I make a year. I use that money to actually go do fun things which cuts down the grind factor.

For those of you currently also in the rut, make moves to get out now, it's sure af ain't going to get better on it's own (2jz no sh!t).

question for you bro's. If you have the savings plus time to get started in a new career, which field would you get into and why?

Not sure why people THINK they are better than the "9-5" these days? Be happy you even get to work. Quit being lazy and thinking you are entitled to something better. Everyone wants homes, cars, boats, women, travel, and fine things, but nobody wants to work. Everyone thinks they are too good for a "normal" job but too lazy to put in the effort to hit a trade school up or college..

Most people are tired after work. Sitting behind a computer at a desk is mentally draining. Once you get home and sit down it's game over. I didn't mention gym at a minimum of 3 days a week. And what about dinner? You guys think you got it all figured out saying 9-5 is nothing and you have plenty of free time. You don't. The weekends? The weekends don't even last long. Saturday is spend sleeping until 11p.m to catch up. By the time you know it, it's Sunday night.

I tell you what, since I'm a big complainer as others pointed out, can we at least agree employers should give the option of 10 hours, 4 days a week?

I literally can't imagine having kids right now and being forced to keep doing the 8-5 cause you have a family to take care of.
That's an attitude many Westerners have because what we expected is less than reality.
Unfortunately work sucks and not having children and living selfishly wont solve your life problems.

I think most people waste their career chances because they arent mature early on, and get stuck because life forces people into situation if they do not act actively to change their destinies. Then people become apathetic and get used to their condition.Worst of all many fill the void
with religion, those are the biggest failures IMO.

I want to give you a big advice to change this.
Get involved in a real sport after work. I'm going to take a huge **** on bodybuilding here and advocate you dont do that.
I work in advertising. Very stressful job where Im mentally drained after work and could go home and lay on a couch.

What I do instead is box (Muay Thai). The act of moving very much, the adrenaline of sparring, the physical strain on your body...It re-establishes the balance ****ed by sitting at desk stressing over mental things (in my case profit, margins, legal problems, etc).

But boxing is not for everyone, I understand. Soccer, volleyball, tennis...You name it. Just do a sport where you move fast and have adrenaline. Dont lock yourself in a gym and lift iron. That doesnt fix the problem.

Honestly Thai Boxing has made me less of a pussy and much more calm in many situations, better able to tackle the mental bull**** of high stress office environments.

I would recommend many other things, but this is the main one. Zazen Meditation is great too.

It's funny you say that. I tried Muy Thai for 1 day. I wanna get into it, but I'm fat and stiff. 6' 270lbs.

Muy Thai Boxing still takes up time....

I think it's an amazing if not the best way to lose weight.
I am about 80kg and am losing weight whenever I train because it shreds you so much.
Besides there are heavy men at my gym too, and the good thing is you build muscle and stamina even under the fat, so you are losing weight but becoming an athlete too. I spar with guys much heavier than me and they are very good fighters.

As to time, I only go twice per week (each training lasts 2 hours) because its so tough on the body (need 2 full days to recuperate).
Other than that I jog 2-3x per week after work, at night. Also amazing way to feel better after an office day.

The great thing is that with muay thaiI am never apathetic in the gym because adrenaline keeps me motivated(another person trying to kick my ass). Unlike the gym where its so easy to do sloppy workouts that achieve nothing. It will re-invigorate your daily life and even the gym if you still go there.

Whether or not you are a day trader depends on personality.
Not everyone has personality to be a day trader, be constantly on phone/software observing price movements, doing technical analysis, etc.
You have to have a kind of gambler attitude.

Lol no tradie life for me.

Have plans to be an air traffic controller, but hard to get a TOL (offer letter). Only have 2 more panels to try and get the gig before aging out. Have no idea what I will do with my life if I don't get picked for that, probably will try and travel around for 3-6 months in Europe/SE Asia. Currently in IT and not something I want to do any longer.

Find out a way to work remotely. Travel and work are the best things.

Also, invest money you have to make you more money so you can feel more "secure". Not sure why people love security so much, the most I've felt "alive" is during times of struggle.
