Better to be over prepared than under.

I'd still take my chances with a hurricane over a tornado any day of the week.

If you're thinking Sandy, it all depends on where you are in relation to the winds, rains, and storm surge. Here in Maryland it wasn't too bad at all as we were on the southern end of the eye with the winds coming from the north and then west, so storm surge wasn't a major concern. But tell that to the Rockaways in NY when she hit bringing easterly winds being north of the eye, at high tide, with fires burning for days because the entire area was inaccessible.

I was 11 or 12 when Hugo, Cat 4, hit Charleston SC. Destruction everywhere.

Its a certainly early but we had an evacuation that was completely bungled about 10-12 years ago when they waited too long and left people stranded on the interstates and since then they have been cautious.

And its probably 1.5 Million people being told to move inland.

00z was also a looper but even further north. At this point Virginia is definitely coming into play with the last several updates moving north.
