he asked the court for proof it wasn't him, and paid $250 for a signature analysis. judge accepted it as proof and let him off the hook for all debt.

b. alimony doesn't get paid out like that. the person awarded alimony doesn't get "everything" the other person gets. you get a payment based on your needs minus your own income. if the person paying has no income, he/she pays no alimony. this is a court form that can be filled out and applied for.

c. a cash heavy business was valued high enough to be sellable for a large sum? how? your father's an idiot for not claiming the expenses better, over reporting, or straight up lying to his ex on how much he made. looks like he needs a better accountant.

d. your dad got divorced twice. something ain't right with him either.

e. as someone said, at 65, how much did she want in money to live it up? at that point, most of us gave up on life. something else is wrong.

f. your dad should've given you the business, or at least a stock certificate for 99% ownership or something.i'm guessing he had red flags enough before she filed for divorce. goofed once again.

g. jake's on your dad for giving your stepmom access to money. my wife doesn't work, i give her an allowance (don't worry, it's ample, enough to pay the mortgage, pay off her student loans in full, buy all groceries, and few hundred dick around dollars a month extra), but all "extras" i put away into retirement, investments, etc. luckily, i didn't marry a money thirsty kunt cuz she already came from money so she lols at my poverty, but we love each other and live simply.

now, i'm not taking the step mom's side at all. it's gut wrenching that this happened to you and your pops, and i can only imagine the havoc it's wreaking on your lives. but the second she filed for divorce, you were not coming out as a winner. find the quickest path to resolution and give up as much as you need to to get on with what's left of your life, because the lawyers would milk it forever.

OP , you sound like a hard working intelligent dude, just go out on your own and learn from your dad's mistakes.
a. he just found out about it in court so it took time to prove it wasn't his and like I said based on his conversations with the debt co he's going to be ok.

b. alimony is paid based on what the judge rules. this is happening. if you don't believe it frankly I don't care.

c. define a large sum? based on what it made every year versus what it sold for I'd say that it was not a large sum. if she would have taken his offer she would have gotten the same amount of money in 2 years of payments that she did in cash up front. his accountant is a high level senior at a big firm in Atlanta. there are no problems there.

d. never said he was perfect but you've also never met my mom. lol

e. I think she's trying to setup the blind relative. but it still won't be enough. I honestly believe it was to be vindictive. nothing else. "the simplest explaination is often the correct one.".

f. I've covered this several times.

g. you've got yourself a unicorn there if she's ok with that. good luck if she ever gets fed up. up until she retired she made pretty decent money and so did he. so there was no need to split cash etc. they're both older folks and a lot of people didn't even consider doing that back then.

fin- dude that's what he tried to do. she just wasn't having it. they went to arbitration for months. he told me, "the only I get out of this without going to court is to just hand everything over to her and leave with my clothes.". not much you can do about that.

she spent it. a lot of it got spend when the relative lost his vision. there were tons of med bills and surgeries to try and save his sight.
You also responded below my question with "didn't help my dad", but your opening statement to this thread was discussing how you worked for him to build this business. What do you mean by this?
because you said to never invest in a business that you don't own or have a share in. that's what he did and he still got screwed. that's what I meant.

This is why I am happy that I am a middle eastern man, as middle eastern women are less likely to engage in this type of thing. Divorce is not really an option so couples oftentimes don't split unless one has done the other major wrong or something.

Well I guess it turned out better than expected for him considering he ended up with 50% of the martial assets.

luckily he got some huge benefits for 28 years as a result

for example, a warm/wet hole from some deteriorating sloot for a few of those years

also, because she made no money for a long time, it dropped his tax bracket slightly. those few bucks will really help him out right now, although i suppose it would have been far more had she not been a bum

sounds like he got the better deal overall because hole is hole, amirite?

can't wait to get married

eh I doubt it. It's more like for every positive yelp review there are 20 hyper critical negative reviews. You only hear about chit when people are unhappy, not when everything went better than expected...

also with regards to OP, honestly the judge seemed as fair as one could hope for. The two people in front of her failed to reach a mutual decision, so she split everything down the middle. They were partners for nearly 3 decades. Not sure what else to expect tbh.

how about if you make a man pay alimony you don't take away his source of income? why does she deserve alimony in the first place? oh that's right, vagina. #Equality

I guess if it came to it. he still has the cash(which he's looking at investing in a few places) so as long as he has money to pay he has to pay her.

he was the last 4-ish years after she stopped working. the other 25-ish years she had a job.

I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and go with the fact that your stepmom is a fiend and a sociopath. Even then, your dad is at fault. He got played by a woman. Fkin lol, how can you be so naive and talk with(let alone marry) a whore like this? And the judge decision isn't even that wild. Everything 50/50? That's a better bargain than most people in the US can hope for boyo.

Lemme get this straight...

You pay your wife to be your wife????

That's cool she came from money so she'll be used to a certain standard of living, sounds like you're providing that by paying her.

Lol you have to be trolling, right???

How does she spend her time, does she have career goals or life goals?

I dont believe OP - I've never seen a family court try to interfere in business - if they did - this entire family court should be placed within the public arena exposing damage being done to small businesses. I've seen them **** with your ability to get a pay check (you're employed) and I've seen them put men in prison for not paying child support - because they can't get a job - and thus will not pay child support because they're in prison - because while in prison they can't get a job.

This is whats wrong with the system, SJW white knights who actually blame the man in this scenario when this could all be avoided if our court systems were not completely feminized and run by the whims of women. Theres no reason for men to be able to get fleeced so badly by the system if they chose a poor partner. It may have made sense when women werent working and if there was a divorce they were ****ed on the street. Not so much anymore, why do they need alimony and the majority of your **** these days?

If you are going to get a divorce, do it within 10 years, so you don't end up paying through the nose.

With almost 30 years of marriage, the now ex-wife has a stronger case that she is dependent and useless/10, since women are already pretty dependent and useless.
"The manlet is a savage beast that knows no moral bound. After falling in disgrace to a manmore, a ravaged manlet would not hesitate to come from behind and land a sucker punch/ swing with a rock to the back of a manmore's head. They are ruthless and you need to spend some more time in the gutter to even begin trying to comprehend what goes on in their minds."

of course a lot of people just pick chitty spouses no doubt about that.

but you can't know what someone will be like in 30 years or what really lies in the deepest parts of their mind and what they are truly capable of in certain situations.

I 100% agree with this

However, this is why the wisest men of each society regardless of its formation (city-state, tribe, kingdom, empire etc) ensured that men had legal protections from being cuckolded, cheated on, and divorced.

Since the masculine can be easily manipulated by the feminine, law was formed to bring balance to the equation. You see this in ancient religions where a wise patriarchal deity brings order into existence from feminine chaos, such as Zeus or Odin.

We are witnessing such marital problems in western nations because the law no longer protects and serves man, but rather usurps his natural authority as head of his household to degrade and enslave him to the Leviathan that is now "The State".

"Choosing the right one" becomes meaningless when the man was never on a fair playing field to begin with, being an economic beast of burden in the eyes of "The State".

The feminine follows its nature and enslaves the masculine, but now has the full might of "The State" to enforce her will.

Yes, if a man chooses a partner who turns out to be chitty in the long run, he is ultimately at fault for that choice. Agreed. This is not the issue at hand.

The issue at hand is that nobody, I mean nobody, has the capacity to predict the future mentality and behavior of another person (again, see Silver Divorces). And currently in Western Civilization, a misandric system has evolved that grossly favors women at the expense of men when a union is dissolved.

For many men, this is life ending or at the very least severely debilitating. I just can't understand how you can maintain such a stance in the face of facts.

Imagine you had a grown Son, and he moved into a neighborhood that looked really appealing and inviting. It was safe and promised long-term stability and prosperity. So he buys his dream house there. Within a few years, the neighborhood starts to degrade, not horribly, but enough that businesses are leaving and job prospects aren't too good. But, he's your Son, so he's resourceful and capable and makes do. Nobody wants to buy his house because the market has soured and he will lose everything, maybe even his personal freedom if he walks away. So he continues to gut it out. And some days are absolutely great, no robberies, no vandalism...it reminds him of when he first moved into his dream house...

After 15 years, things have eroded so much that his neighborhood is barely recognizable to the one he moved to and bought property in. Due to financial struggles, he is only able to afford the bare essentials, so his 'wealth' is tied into his home equity; of which the value has plummeted to almost nothing. He is stuck, were he to walk away he would be alone and completely destitute. So he continues to gut it out, day after day. Despite the shootings outside his front door and the drug deals taking place on the corner. He is alone and depressed and afraid every day.

One night, he is walking home from the bus stop, and a criminal walks up behind him and stabs him repeatedly. He spends the rest of his existence in agony, bleeding out on the sidewalk. There are no services around to help him. Nobody cares. But, there was a surveillance camera that caught the whole murder, even the killer's face! At the trial, the criminal even confesses to the stabbing!

However, the jury is comprised of people just like you. So, when asked for a verdict, they submit 'Not Guilty'. In fact, the murderer is gifted your Son's house. Because, after all, your Son should have been smart enough to choose a none-chitty neighborhood to invest in for the long haul. And most people agree with the verdict and judgement. What happened to him is 100% his fault after all.

this is kind of an extreme example but I think it gets the message through.

Many people in this thread seem to justify a decision with its outcome i.e. if the results were bad, the decision was made in error. This is incorrect as decision making is a balance of probabilities. Just because the results are undesirable, it doesn't mean that when a decision was made to undertake risk to get some sort of reward, it was made in error.
