Things that beat prime roy jones JR:
-90% of pro kick boxers over 165lb
-90% of pro mma fighters over 145lb
-70% of D1 collegiate wrestlers
-80% of the muay thai fighters in the top thai circuit
-80% of competitors invited to ADCC
That's probably 3000 people that can beat prime roy jones junior at any given time.

I'm thinking anybody comes within his range is gonna eat a few of the hardest and quickest punches in boxing history and probably go down.
I forget this is the misc though. Sixth grade wrestling is enough to kill one of the Klitschko brothers in a street fight.

Normally the MMA guy wins, just saying this is one of those exceptions. Like the Prime Mike Tyson scenario.

There are high school wrestlers who have never thrown a punch in their life who would starch RJJ in a street fight.
**** I’d go out on a limb and say there are female athletes who his beat his ass too. Cyborg (if you can call that a female) who wreck his chit.

Would an MMA fighter even use kicks in a street fight? I hear it all the time that you should never use kicks in a street fight

You can tell who's trained and who hasn't based on this thread. There isn't an MMA fighter in the world that's going to the ground in a street fight...It goes against the entire scope of the training. When you take BJJ or other grappling disciplines there are "self defense" principles that are taught as apart of the class, that consist of throws, standing locks, and over-emphasize not going to the ground. Why do you think you're taught to "stand up in base"? If the fight goes to the ground in a street fight, you get up immediately. Being on the ground in a street fight could potentially be a death sentence. With that said MMA is not a street fight, it's not even close....It's a complex sport. Go watch videos of street fights, what do you see? Guys throwing hands. You occasionally may see some kid take someone down, and punch them out, but it's extremely rare. Most boxers are going to have the upper hand in a street fight, for various reasons, Especially RJJ.
1. His footwork was second to none. In his prime he was extremely fluid, and smooth.
2. From an instinctive point of view, he was second to none. You're not going to hit him.
3. He had enough power to put most men down. Getting hit by RJJ with no gloves would fuking suck.

8/10 times a 17 year old state champion HIGH SCHOOL wrestler beats RJJ in a street fight.
People that haven't grappled before dont seem to understand how hard it is to stop someone from grabbing you. David Haye even acknowledged this when he briefly trained with some MMA guys. it's really phucking hard to stop someone, ANYONE from charging in and getting a hold of you, this is why the majority of street fights end up in a grappling situation and why the majority of striker vs grappler match ups end in favor of the grappler.
now let's say we take someone like Jon Jones who is really phucking good at boxing, wrestling, jiu jitsu, kicking/ knees (muay thai), clinch work etc. its way too many weapons for a pro boxer to deal with.
RJJ gets swarmed and probably beat within an inch of his life. he might hurt or rock an MMA guy, but 99% of the time hes getting dragged to the ground and beat up or kicked in his head.

Someone who wrestled all 4 years of high school and ended their career in the top ~10 of their weight class by senior year and pursued BJJ for ~5+ years earning the rank of purple belt or higher and still trains at least semi-regularly would phuck up the majority of pro boxers in a street fight and statistically would probably dominate the majority of the worlds population in a street fight.
An accomplished wrestler and competitive purple belt is really phucking dangerous

""Six months of training isn’t going to be enough," Haye said. "As a UFC fan, I know two or three years wouldn’t be enough. How many times has Toney sprawled in his life? 500? How many leg kicks has he taken in his life? 300? How many Kimura attempts has he defended? 140? Even if he’s done double that amount, he wouldn’t have nearly the experience needed to win a UFC fight."
"I know from training in MMA myself that the wrestling aspect ruins your punching power," Haye said. "After a minute of grappling, your arms, back and shoulders fill with blood and even if you then find space to throw punches, your power is suddenly crap.
"And I hit a lot harder and I’m so much faster than James, and I couldn’t land a punch on fighters when all they wanted to do was take me down to the ground. James is a much more static fighter than I am, and is going to get thrown on his back immediately by Randy. I admire Toney’s spirit and boxing skills. But he’s delusional here."
BELOW is a mike tyson quote on his chances in the early days of ufc (WHEN HE WAS IN HIS PRIME)
"Well, in ‘93, I was in prison, so there wouldn’t have been a fight, but there is no way I would have won,” Tyson told UFC Tonight. “I had no idea what was going on with that type of fighting and would’ve been taken by surprise. I would have had to train in that particular art of fighting before that happened. That’s a particular art."
“You’re not going to go in there with just your hand and not have a great ground game. You also need a great wrestling game to be successful ... You have to have both games. You have to know how to wrestle and box. That’s just the truth.”
it's always delusional internet d bags who clearly have never trained in any martial art arguing in favor of the boxer lol. when this topic is presented to most PRO boxers they are usually honest in admitting that the MMA guy would phuck them up. and theres no shame in that lol thats why they are usually humble in this admittance.
both MMA and boxing are SPORTS, but boxing is a much more restrictive one. MMA just offers many more weapons and tools for use in a street fight. obviously a pro boxer has a punchers chance but when faced with a guy who can punch, kick, knee ,elbow, wrestle, clinch & submit the odds are overwhelmingly against the guy who can only do one of those things lol.

Jones is a top tier athlete. Conditioning wise it's like an amateur vs a pro. No MMA fighter has top tier athleticism.
Boxers don't stand still waiting to be rushed, they move surprisingly fast without even thinking about it. They set traps with foot movement alone. An MMA fighter could try and take Jones legs but Jones won't be in the same position when he executes it but his punches will be. That's not getting to the power speed in his hands. These guys hit through you, it disables you.

and I wouldn't say the MAJORITY of people training in grappling are doing it for street situational confidence. I'm a bjj purple belt training under Phil Migliarese on the east coast. I've been doing bjj for 8 years and wrestled 4 years prior to that. ALOT of our gym is competitive practitioners either grapplers or MMA guys. We have a lot of people who started training just to lose weight or get in shape. Yes there is a good percent that train for self defense but I wouldnt say it's an overwhelming majority, at least not at every gym.
and yes at smaller local gyms the fighters train with everyone else, but at large camps like a top MMA fighter would be at (since again, thats who is being presented in this HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION) they are training separate lol. If you go to jackson winklejohn in NM, you won't find jon jones training with the rest of the joe blows off of the street lol, he is in pro fighter only classes or in private camps working with other high level hand picked guys.
at larger gyms and fight camps the pro guys are NOT training with the 45 year old accountant family man who is there 2x a week to break a sweat lol.

also, RJJ has never been leg kicked, a leg kick from a high level kickboxer on an untrained person is far more "disabling" then any punch and it can be thrown from a distance.

Not really a 'street fight' then, just like bareknuckle boxing is not a 'street fight'.
A 'street fight' is normally a spontaneous occurrence, because someone's ego got hurt. Normally starts in conversation range, amongst a group of people.

Wrestlers would murk them as well.
In MMA he may win 10% based on athleticism at most. In a real fight noone knows, however assuming a fair dust-up grappling will always hold advantage in 1 on 1 combat.

And I wasn't lying they timed his hands. He's as fast as a Rattlesnake.
How many of you HS wrestlers ITT can dodge a Rattlesnake?

I sparred with people who wiped me out in boxing, but could easily grab them and take them down before getting KOed.
Assuming an agreed upon fair fight, most MMA fighters (especially good ones) would not be KOed before either getting Roy on the ground, or kicking at his legs. A real spontaneous fight however they are probably sucker punch KOed, or badly hurt in first exchange.

However the high school wrestling argument is retarded.
Someone with Roy Jones Jr. athleticism could actually go far in a high school wrestling meet with no experience.

I would imagine the MMA guy feels safe in going to the ground and using all of his tools.
and I wouldn't say the MAJORITY of people training in grappling are doing it for street situational confidence.

On winklejohns its interesting because donald cerrone was saying how they are running it like a puppy mill. Former champs such as holly holms was sparring against 'homeless' ppl looking to knock her head out with no regard to safety and general camp preparedness.
I dont know why ppl think ufc fighters would only throw punches in a supposed street fight. These are smart ppl fellas. It wouldnt be hard to duck under right hand and shoot in or bait for a boxer to overextend and be off balance.
