"For the past three decades or a little more, researchers have been assessing both narcissism and empathy using questionnaires developed in the late 1970s. The questionnaire designed to assess narcissism is the Narcissistic Personality Inventory (NPI). "
"Many research studies have shown that scores on these questionnaires correlate reliably with real-world behavior and with other people’s ratings of the individuals. For example, those who score high in narcissism have been found to overrate their own abilities, to lash out angrily in response to criticism, and to commit white-collar crimes at higher rates than the general population.[1] Those who score low in empathy are more likely than the average person to engage in bullying and less likely to volunteer to help people in need"
"Over the years, these questionnaires have been administered to many samples of college students, and analyses that bring all of the data together reveal that the average narcissism score has been steadily increasing and the average empathy score has been steadily decreasing ever since the questionnaires were developed [3.] The changes are highly significant statistically and sufficiently large that approximately 70 percent of students today score higher on narcissism and lower on empathy than did the average student thirty years ago."

I don't mind Silencespeaks but her comment earlier in this thread made me lol. Not going to read all 14 pages of this relationship help transplant but loled at her saying 1 in 100 guys in public are attractive. That is literally you saying you want the top 1%, proving everything being said here. And that this is just you being superficially attracted to them, and you've gone on to talk about how you want more out of a relationship, many guys are ****bois, etc.---so you want a top 1% guy who is interesting, caring, and wants a relationship with you as well, and you are settling for other men. Yikes.
If guys had the same standards pretty much no one would ever date or at least be happy about it (which is pretty much the case I guess). You are saying 99/100 guys do not catch your attention and no offense but I doubt you're a 10. Maybe it's just Denver but at least 50% of the people here my age are average---that's literally what average is. The overall pool of attractiveness here is probably better because it's such a fitness/outdoors-focused area but seriously...1/100...lawd. South Carolina was definitely lower because more fat people but I would still fk probably 30% of the women my age there.

Don’t really care for the “honeymoon stage” of a relationship either. I prefer the later stage where you’re just comfortable with each other and appreciate each other as companions.

Maybe more people are unattractive than that since the population of people that are overweight in America is ~70%.Yeah maybe 1/100 was a little extreme and it’s probably higher, but definitely nowhere near 1/5 (20% number). And again I’m talking about the general public counting everyone 18+ on say a busy street.
Yes most people are average of course so that’s 5/10 imo. And no they don’t catch my eye. The guys that catch my eye are like 7/10 AND my physical type. So that also excludes a bunch of 7/10+ guys that are goodlooking but not my type. And no ofc I’m not a 10/10 and never claimed to be.

I've been around the block and if most men are as boring as most women I can see it being difficult to get into a relationship. But to me, being not boring means a woman has some sort of hobby or activity going on in her life besides working, having a dog, and watching Netflix. I wo

Agree with SS go to any place that isn't the gym and there's no way more than 5-7% of people are what i'd consider attractive. Maybe 20% of people are decent/kind of good looking but that's it. I live in a city of 40k and no way are 8k people here attractive. Not even half of that.

Seek values like high integrity, stability, drive/ambition, honesty, good comms, leadership etc. None of us are really allowed to complain about lack of a decent partner when we pursue shallow traits (and I'm not saying you're the only one guilty of this).

The general population looks like crap, Lucifer is right.
1 in 100 isn’t that bad. I can go days without seeing a guy who catches me eye just on the street.
At school though I see them all the time. Everyone is 22-30 and mostly in shape. Much better odds.

It's sad, and IMO US culture heavily influences English speaking western nations. So it wouldn't surprise me if it's a similar trend here in the US

Your idea of dating being hard is that you once dated an extremely attractive person likely out of your league, so anything less than that is hard for you to cope with even though you would not consider yourself top 1%. The problem with modern dating in a nutshell, only exacerbated by things like Tinder because it's like a menu with 10,000 options and you have to decide what you want based off a photo and description of the dish. It's impossible.Like 6/10 misc standards. Average face, very fit, very well groomed, nice hair, minimal makeup.
And just to clarify I’m not saying I deserve anything or am entitled to anything. I know that’s not how dating works. Just saying what I want, which is a bf that I’m physically attracted to (and who has a normal/nice personality).
Also what plays into this is that I got married young and was very attracted to my ex. So it’s not appealing to now date guys I’m not attracted to.

I spend my time at work, where a decent amount of people in my age range are attractive; the gym, where people are generally decently attractive; around my apartment in a relatively expensive area, so people have money to groom themselves and look fit/fashionable; nice bars and restaurants; etc. Put yourself into better situations if you are around so many undesirable people, otherwise you are mixing with these people because you are one of them. The general population looks like crap, Lucifer is right.
1 in 100 isn’t that bad. I can go days without seeing a guy who catches me eye just on the street.
At school though I see them all the time. Everyone is 22-30 and mostly in shape. Much better odds.
