One of my friends is a union building "engineer" which is basically a glorified janitor and makes 150k a year because his overtime pay is ridiculous.
Yes, there are some tradies who make bank. However, on the misc, ALL tradies are high rollers. It’s b.s.

83k/year and you could buy a Nicaraguan beachfront home (only seventeen miles away, view beach from telescope). Higher end investment opportunities could allow you to buy two additional trailers in your neighborhood.

Damn. Before making power moves on that level you'd have to build up a pretty solid collection of low cost trailers.

an unlicensed plumber will not make 300K. My step father is the owner of a commercial and high-end residential plumbing company. he's been a licensed master plumber for 25 years. He makes like 200K profit each year. Which is certainly good, but c'mon where on earth will an unlicensed plumber get a 300K salary from?
I dunno what to tell you man. When I was in high school I spent a summer working for my uncle who is a plumber. We walked into a property management office that he worked for and he had to give the guy an estimate for a riser job for 3 tiers. My uncle told me before we walked in, "watch how I screw this guy right now. This job I should charge maybe 8 grand for, watch what I do to him." We get in and my uncle tells him the job's going to cost 15k to do. The manager starts complaining and telling him not to **** with him that that's too high. My uncle starts bull****ting him and telling him that's how it is and eventually the manager is like "just get it done." $15k job for a week's worth of work and maybe $3k in materials at that time.

Another friend of my dad's has illegal workers that he pays about $200 a day combined. He is the sole plumber for this management company that has 1000+ units. Every day they do about 3-5 work orders each where the minimum paying job is around $80 with a more likely average around $150. This same plumber also does remodeling for their units which is about 3 days worth of work replacing vanities, toilets, parts in the toilets, tub faucet parts, etc, whatever needs to be done in the units. This is usually 2-3 days of work and usually comes out to about $1,500.00-$2,000 worth of work. Sometimes they even do the kitchen cabinets and countertops with is another $1000+ worth of work. And all this money is from just the 2 workers. On top the bossman does the more difficult work like pipe repair, boiler repairs, etc. Oh yeah and all the material for this company is completely paid for by the management company. So everything he bills is all profit aside from the $200 a day he pays his workers.

Is 80k what you consider high rolling? Most union tradies start out making around $30 an hour in Chicago, so that means in NYC probably $45-50 an hour. 8 hours a day, 5 days a week that comes out to about 80k a year in Chicago not to mention if you work overtime you make a ton more.

Misc breeds a culture of insecurity and e-statting. Many people here genuinely value their life based on how much money they can take home to brag about to the misc.

Because the misc is full of liars.

In reality a large percentage of the misc are weird, broke basement dwelling FA's hiding behind fictional misc alter-egos, desperate to jump on other lying FA losers making up annual salaries that they do not earn.

It's definitely doable. I know a few tradies in electrical making 700k/yr, but they own their own business. They can charge high rates since there's so much demand now with lower laborer supply

Believing the salary numbers people throw around on the misc would be as foolish as believing Santa Clause is real, or that miscers actually lift.

The average household income in the US is $61,372.00 for 2018.

Most miscers are actually living in their parents basement making minimum wage and fapping into a sock at the end of each day.

I'm a teacher and work at Harbor Freight on the side. $57,000 approximately for teaching. Extra $700-$850 a month from HF, and it helps. Plus employee discount is nice.
