I remember some of my Fraternity brothers would give me a hard time because I was studying to become a teacher. They were all business majors. They partied 3-4 days a week. I rarely partied because I was busy working 30-35 hours a week while trying to maintain straight A's in college. I never became a teacher, but I landed a pretty nice job in the government (because of my work experience, but the college degree was a requirement to have the job) with great benefits. I'm living a pretty good life, while my bros who partied all the time are struggling moving from one start up to the next with minimal job security. In America, your life depends on the choices that you make. Sometimes, those good choices take 10+ years before any positivity comes out of them.

So they're willing to **** over EVERY OTHER GENERATION for their personal benefit because... that's just human nature.

For instance, in my state, there's a government employee retirement program called PERS. And the people that voted for the specifics of the program?

They were recipients of the program. Guess how that went?

They took EVERYTHING and BURNED IT TO THE GROUND for every other generation.

They had no-risk, GUARANTEED RETURNS OF 7% on their pension accounts.

Those investments performed REALLY WELL. Returned 15% or more.

Financial experts said it won't stay this way, but you get to decide to keep all the money, or to put it into the system so future generations can benefit.

I'll bet you can guess what happened.

As a result, my states public schools are ****ED. The kids? ****ED.

Our biggest school district? Lead in the water.

Public employees? ****ED.

But those baby boomers?

By 2000, most of them were making the SAME SALARY, POST-RETIREMENT.
Some were making more.

This is the attitude of humans, not just baby boomers. When you let people make decisions with a conflict of interest... what the **** do you think's gonna happen?

And this happens at EVERY LEVEL of government.

LMFAO!

The delusion is so thick it's dripping through your keyboard.

Not everyone can live with mommy and daddy into their early 20s.

"Most millenials are idiots who know nothing of leaching off their parents. You just need to be smart and not entitled (except to mommy's money, duh). But that's not related to the money I saved in my 20s. You don't need a fancy apartment in NYC... JUST LIVE WITH MOMMY AND DADDY DUMBASS!"
sounds a lot like that chitty Portland city that's filled with hobos. i tried to move there from california recently and there were no homes left. bastards

My old roommate just turned 30 is an electrician. He just got promoted to a PM at the firm he works for. Is making $103k or so salary, and gets a christmas bonus (usually 3-5k I think?). The company is employee owned as he has fantastic benefits + retirement. Just purchased a home for $420k or so on a golf course, it needs some work but he bought a fixer upper on his last house and put in all the time himself to fix it, remodel it and sold it 4 or 5 years later for about a 100k profit. Dude is a hard ass worker, doesn't blow money on stupid **** and does all his own work himself, well as much as he can. Doesn't drive a brand new vehicle, has a 5 year old truck. He started his electrician program right out of high school at 18... Has grinded and does re well. Does a lot of side jobs as well. People talk a lot of **** about tradies but honestly this guy has it made. His job is ****ing cake, all his company really does is work on hvac systems and **** at hospitals, .gov buildings, prisons etc. Most of it is programming the systems. Lives in a city that avg household income is 43k and average single income is 23.2k

On a side note, I think what happened to millenials is our parents fault. They coddled us, told us to "dream big, you can be anything you want!" "Go after whatever makes you happy!" even though that's probably something that won't make you **** for an income. Ingrained in our heads COLLEGE COLLEGE COLLEGE. Their parents treated them like ****, beat their asses and made them grow the **** up early. Our parents didn't want to be like their parents... So you get a different result.

Exactly, everyone I know 25-35 with an income of 50K or greater owns their own home. I think the biggest problem is millennials are getting cucked by social media as far as their lifestyle expectations.

If you have a phone that costs more then $200-300. If your entire shoe collection is worth more then $200-300. If your entire clothing collection is worth more then $200-300. And if you have any other luxury items (Watches that costs more then $15-20 for example). Then your poverty is 100% of result of financial misappropriation. Cook all of your meals. Shop the sales at local grocery stores. Get a few room mates for your apartment to split the costs of living. Downsize your car to a used one you can pay for cash. Etc. Don't go to bars and waste money on going out having drinks. Don't use tobacco (Huge waste of cash.) Etc.

Millennials spend money they don't have, on things they don't need. Then they b!tch and moan about working more then 40 hours per week or about 'minimum wage'. Etc. When the reality is as an 'employee' they offer little value to the work force and are easily replaceable. My first job was minimum wage and I managed to save 10K within about a year and a half. And I wasn't living with my parents at the time. 100% self sustained. Granted it was me and 3 friends living in a travel trailer. Still, we managed. I had a flip phone until I was about to be 26...

My sister is the prime example of a ****ing pos millennial.

20 years old, $450 car payment has a 2017 or 2018 Toyota Rav 4. Is out getting her nails done weekly, eyebrows threaded/waxed or whatever the **** they do. Posting instagram/snapchat stories daily out eating.

She makes $17.50/hr, lives at home and still complains about not having money. Just bought the new iPhone last week. I'm like no wonder you owe mom money and cant afford to pay her rent... you just spent all your ****ing money on stupid luxuries. My mom completely enables this behavior though. Wants my mom to help her pay off her debt, so she can pay my mom rent... I'm just like wut? My mom wants to kick her out but she complains she has no where to go and can't do anything. My mom is like wtf your friend soandso just bought a house and is a year younger than you and she complains "wahhh well her parents bought her a car when she was 16!" - It turns out to be like a 2005 honda accord or some ****, the girl pays like $50/mo in insurance. My sister meanwhile got 2 cars bought for her (well first one was bought, second one my grandpa gave her the money for the down payment).

Meanwhile my girlfriend makes less money than her, but can manage to have a car paid off (its a 2010 corolla), pay her insurance, pay for her apartment and still have money left over for a few luxuries... I can't fathom it.

did you actually just say that your sister's 19 year old friend bought a house?

just lol.

also, while i agree that you shouldnt waste money on luxuries like phones and eating out if you're broke, you cant do basic math if you think cutting back on those expenses would allow her to move out and like, buy a house or something.

she couldnt buy a house even if she did the things you suggest.

this is the best part though; this is your competition! some people may hate him, some people love him, but david goggins puts it into perspective:

“It’s so easy to be great nowadays, because everyone else is weak. If you have ANY mental toughness, if you have any fraction of self-discipline; The ability to not want to do it, but still do it; If you can get through to doing things that you hate to do: on the other side is GREATNESS ”

there are so many frail and weak minded people out there that put in minimal effort and expect huge pay out. they grew up coddled by their parents and were told that they were special, got participation trophies, and sheltered from the realities of life. then life happened, they werent prepared for it, and blame everyone but themselves. thats not how life works!

Yeah... It's about 1100 sqft, actually has decent curb appeal. Nothing special. But its a first house and shes 19, think she has a roommate paying her like $600/mo. Her mortgage is probably little over that.

Bro do you have any idea how much nails + eyebrows are? Or how much getting your hair done monthly cost? Let me do some basic ****ing math for you retard.

She doesn't get her nails done every other week. - $200/mo, eye brows $180/mo, hair $150(minimum)/mo. Instead of a $450/mo car payment, she gets a ****ing avg toyota corolla saves $300/mo.

That's $830/mo that she would save. She doesn't buy that iphone? $1000 this year. Doesn't go out to eat multiple times a week? At least saving $50/week... That's $200/mo. She could literally save $1030/mo EASILY.

even assuming your numbers are correct, i mean she needs a haircut every once in a while, right? she needs some kinda phone /w plan, yeah? she's gotta eat SOMETHING, right?

those costs arent zero like you assume in your calculation. she's gonna have SOME out of pocket expenses for these things. i mean, maybe if she lives at home for the next 4 years and you mom literally pays for EVERYTHING (doesnt sound like you want that), then maybe after 48 months she'd have $24k in the bank.

povertycells are obsessed with SAVING money, like they bought into the car insurance commercials hard. the reality is that your sis cant yet earn a decent income and MAKE money.

Maybe if millennials can't afford to live in major metropolitan cities on the East and West coast. They should consider moving somewhere they can make a living wage and have a comfortable life.

Either that or, ya know, continuing living 1 step above a homeless person and whining about the job market.

Everyone starts from the bottom unless they are born into wealth. Minimalize expenses. Save/invest money. Grow the habit of spending less then you earn.

My mortgage escrow is 900 per month and that covers mortgage, HOA, property taxes and homeowners insurance. I had a 1875 square foot home built to my specifications. 20% downpayment.

Bought a house at 28. Typing this on a 3 year old phone. Our newest car is 8 years old and my daily driver is old enough to legally drink. Wife stays at home with 2 kids and we make it on one income.

These are complex issues, it's no one person, or generations fault. We have all contributed, and all need to take ownership instead of pointing fingers. Are millennials on average more entitled, lazy, hedonistic, with weak work ethic relative to previous generations, yes. I wouldn't say its their fault though, they are merely products of their genetics and environment. Boomers raised them to be special snowflakes, and guess what, they grew up to be snowflakes, who would've predicted that. That's not excuse for them to not make an effort to overcome their situation instead of complaining. And like others have mentioned, the elites, bankers, ect are more to 'blame' than anybody else since everyone wants to point fingers. The elites have been eroding the middle class intentionally, it's by design.

even assuming your numbers are correct, i mean she needs a haircut every once in a while, right? she needs some kinda phone /w plan, yeah? she's gotta eat SOMETHING, right?

those costs arent zero like you assume in your calculation. she's gonna have SOME out of pocket expenses for these things. i mean, maybe if she lives at home for the next 4 years and you mom literally pays for EVERYTHING (doesnt sound like you want that), then maybe after 48 months she'd have $24k in the bank.

povertycells are obsessed with SAVING money, like they bought into the car insurance commercials hard. the reality is that your sis cant yet earn a decent income and MAKE money.
No she lives in a city of about 160-200k population. The girls house was like $160k or so I think. I'm assuming she put 3.5% down since its the lowest FHA.

Lol. Yes not every single month bro or multiple times a month. She doesn't need to color it everytime etc etc. She had a phone... a iphone 7, it worked perfectly fine. But hey gotta have the "newest best" thing right?

Cost are zero, she has plenty of food at home to eat for free (she lives at home...) yet she chooses to go and eat multiple times a week with her friend.

You need 3.5% down for a FHA loan... She could EASILY save 3.5% and find a decent starter house for $200k in our city, it wont be 2500 sqft brand new, but it'll be 12-1400 sqft and have all the essentials. So yes she could earn $7k in a year if she saved for a down payment.

So she is making enough to afford a house, that she could have a roommate in and then have a payment less than avg rent in the area.

This

U mean to tell me that the gov can't tax corporations more bcuz either way they make more off the American market with than without

U mean to tell me gov can't offer more subsidies (with corporations tax) to benefit the middle class

Gov and corporations have the money. And Fed and Fed's member owners have printed out so much money intentionally and fixed rates intentionally to inflate money to keep tender even less powerful

The government can literally tax the chit out of corporations; if they stop catering to the American market they'll post a record loss versus paying a higher premium for selling to Americans

Bcuz after all this is what gov does to middle class

Gov could even adopt a cryptocurrency along with the dollar to lessen the dependence on centralized banks (not btc bcuz there's a limited amount)

Ohhh but that's right, gov=corporations and banks whether that's direct or indirect

I will say though, that the education thing is 100% correct. Not only is "education" often useless and unneeded - but the fact that they charge so much when it CLEARLY is not worth what they are charging. BRB throw up the same power point slides for the 10th year in a row or have some liberal hack grade papers to hand out degrees that offer no tangible skills. BRB "non profit", better increase all of our salaries and buy a helicopter. It's bull ****. I'd be interested to hear them all explain how college became so much more expensive in the last 20-30 years despite advances in technology. Because as far as I can tell, you could send me all your PDF files for the class and I never would have to leave my house and I would get the same experience minus the drinking and ****ing around.
Simple. Malinvestment due to government loans and subsidies. Similar to all other bubbles.

That's why this yellow jacket revolution thing is built of millennials. Similar to the antifa commies to an extent. Mostly people who don't understand basic economics or finance. And generally people who, despite government being the problem, support more government as the solution.

The third or so example of how the public sector (government) has failed. I sense a pattern. A trend...

The beaten path is harder (degree + homeownership + stable job etc.) but globalization and technology allows you to do anything you want, given you had an OK upbringing. I don't buy the generational war as much, although it's annoying as **** how to this day corporations and politicians alike bend themselves backwards to please boomers even though they'll be mostly dead in 10-15 years. I suppose they're the ones who can go bitch at city hall then go to a department store while everyone is working, though.

Stfu op

Here's my advice. Stop being lazy by choosing stupid, worthless degrees that include 6 hours of lectures a week.

today, when many of the millenial generation graduated or entered the workforce right around the 2008 housing crisis, they have far greater debts, and far less income.

millenials paid something like, what, 1,200% more than the boomer generation for education (ive seen figures ranging from 1000% more to 20,000% more lololololol)

millenials earn something like, what, 20% less than the boomer generation when accounting for inflation

and they wonder why nobody is buying a house

the boomers were entitled as

anyway go fist yourselves

imagine being such a weenie that you group your problems with your generation, and blame it all on your parents. Yeah life is so hard now a days, you have people complaining from their computers or Iphones, with some starbucks in hand after a hard day of work sitting down in a heated office.
