You should be measuring at the naval/belly button for men. The measuring point you indicated in a previous pic would be considered the ABS and not Waist and is a measuring point for females.

Secondly I would say that your losing overallweightat a greater rate than you are dropping inches which would indicate significant muscle loss occurring. Your dropping over 6lbs per inch lost. This should be more like 3-4lbs (of fat) per inch lost. If Im right then you are losing a lot of weight but your bodyfat percentage is remaining the same or not changing by very much

Embedded pic from Dec 1st for OP

Definitely not gonna happen by year end. Deadlines for these kinds of things are dumb. Hopefully OP can find a sustainable diet long term and has the dedication to stick with it. Consistency and sustainability are the most important things at play here but it's only up to OP how much of a priority he wants to make it. Really nothing wrong with it not being #1 on his to do list, for most people there are more important things in life than having visible abs but if he wants it bad enough he can do it... just won't be by January 1st that's for sure.

Bro just looked at your first pic. You should have visible abs by now (SRS) if you've been taking it serious. You're not completely skinny fat so get to it.

Edit: Or was that the Dec. 1 pic? You can still do it. Almost can see a little definition already.

You need to start lifting op.

you're going to have to cut to aushwitz for abs to show given your lack of muscle mass

you'll look good in 3 or 4 years of solid lifting

how about you replace your cutting to abs goal with a 225 1rm on bench goal

Just adding some more personal thoughts. You started off on the low muscle side and I think have lost significant amount of muscle during your cut so far. My advice is to find an "accurate" means of body fat testing such as bodpod and find out exactly where you are currently at. I would suggest continuing to lean out down to like 7-8% bf, no matter what it actually looks like. From there you will be in a good position to concentrate on building back up. Bulk to 12% and then repeat cut back to 7-8%. Im a firm believer in that you put on a better muscle ratio gain when you are under 10% to start with.

Are you doing any resistance training ratbrah? if not, do it. Increase your test levels, increase lean muscle mass, and ultimately increased BMR will go along way with your physique, srs.

Who ever said pelvis? Hips? What?

No my bro, we may love you for your gifs, but when it comes to nutrition, dieting and even simple things like measuring your waist, you might as well be a red.

As I said before, you measure your waist at your belly button and evenly around, relaxed. Simple chit there, rib-bro, so that 33" rib measurements you got going might be great, but you need to be focusing on that 39" waist measuredcorrectly. It's not your jeans size, it's not your fuking ribs, it's not below a protruding belly or any other slick methods to hide a giant gut.

Belly. Button.

As a friendly piece of honest good advice, at your height (which you're what 5'10" iirc? About same as me) you really want a legitimate waist measurement of 31-1/2" to maybe 32" before you will really be at your goal. That's about 7" of hard work in front of you. Time to stop worrying about your ribs and start worrying about your gut.

I think you've gone about this with the best intentions and haven't knowingly fuked around, but the #1 Gainz-Breaker when it comes to dieting down is being unrealistic.

Not being realistic with the actual amount of weight you need to lose.

Not being realistic with where you actually are.

Not being realistic with your actual progress.

These things fuk you. They fuk you hard and they fuk you right up your ass and they do not have the courtesy of giving you a reach around when they're done fuking with you.

If you don't honestly know where you are, if you can't honestly measure your progress and if you can't realistically estimate how much actual weight you will lose to reach your goal -- You, and everyone else like you, will Fail.

So, sorry if I'm harsh with you. I'm only this way because I am rooting for you, but you need to make some honest adjustments.

Anyone here who has cheered you on, told you that you were going to make it or said that your pineapple-waist was 34" -- they might like you and want the best, but what they were saying was Trash and was enabling your failure. You need reality, bro.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

This is a great post. With where you're at realistically you need several months longer. Just continue to chip away, I wouldn't worry about hitting time deadlines and just focus on making continuous progress, be that more muscle or less fat. Keep grinding and good luck with the future mate

I agree w most of that except I dont think he is as high as 39". He might actually be in a good percentage range but just so low on the mass side that its hard to tell.

All of dis ^. Measurements should be taken 2-3" below bellybutton, at bellybutton and 2-3" above it, under the bottom of your ribs. Also measure upper thighs, arms around the fattest part, and around the chest to keep track of the fat we brahs hold under our arms/on chest.

Scale weight is meh, I've found it causes more harm then benefit. It'll stall and discourage you or go fast one week and give you unrealistic expectations, etc. With the measuring you can see it come off and by measuring all those places you catch it no matter what, since some weeks it comes off your arms/legs mostly, others off your bottom waist, then belly button measurement, etc. And only measure under the same conditions, so within the same time from last workout, within similar carb intake times, same time of day, etc. Science the chit out of it basically.

Also track your lift numbers so you can balance that against the measurements, if they're going up then can assume you're putting on some muscle and that'll slow the measurements.

He might have actually bandied that specific # around himself, guessing what his (actual) waist was.

Were I guessing, I'd have said 37-38" to begin with and with his Nov1 (which I guess is his most recent? Where is Dec1 update?), but there I'd have pegged maybe 36" or a hair more, probably under 37" and, yeah, well under 39".

I do myself no favors, but often when I'm making a point, I'm a dick about it and part of being a dick means you toss moderation to the wind.

People really need to stop throwing these ridiculous bf%'s they're pulling out of thin air... no one you see in the gym is 7-8% bf unless they are 2 weeks out from a bodybuilding show. To tell someone to cut to that low of a bf and then "bulk" up to 12% just tells me you have no idea what 7, or 12% bf actually is. Bf% numbers mean nothing. Just gauge progress by the mirror, and by the scale. Unless you have regular access to a DEXA scan, it is not something to even try tracking. If you had a dexa done you'd quickly realize how warped your view on bf% is. What you think is 10% is a lot more like 18-20%.

Sorry for the side rant. Posts like these just make me cringe so hard talking about average gym bros cutting to a sub 10% body fat level. That is stage ready at local bodybuilding shows so expecting someone to get to that level without months of different stages of well thought out strict dieting and without a legitimate contest prep coach is very unrealistic.

I couldnt disagree more with ya and think that perhaps you lack of knowledge on different testing methods is clouding your judgement. I have routinely dieted that low over the years along with being body fat tested and without competing and most competitors will go much lower than that. I'll also say that if you ever actually had a DEXA test you would know that since its is the only testing method that tests both subconscious and visceral fat the results do not even compare to what we think of appearance at certain body fat ranges.

As of this morning, if i stick my gut out as far as possible, the measurement below my ribs is 32.5", on my belly button is 37.5" and where an employed male actually wears his pants (which is more of a hip measurement) is 35.5". I'm gonna hold a lot of love handle fat until the last gram and when i close in my goal i'm gonna be on that gollum time (more than usual)

Im a firm believer in that you put on a better muscle ratio gain when you are under 10% to start with.
i actually don't think i'm losing that much muscle unless your lifts can inch up in rep count while losing muscle. is that possible?

What the fuk?

Why?

Why would you stick your gut out at all? Why is it when it's been said repeatedly what to do, and it's fuking simple, you just can't do it?

Gut out 37-1/2"... means you might be around 35-1/2" I guess? I don't even fuking know. Who sticks out their gut when measuring their waist?

You've yet to post your routine. Watching you fail several attempts to simply measure your waist, I'm skeptical of your workout program.

This applies to everyone, but usually most people drastically underestimate the amount of fat they truly need to lose to get the six pack. Fat is stored all over your body, visibly and some you don't see. Some is there but you don't really think about it because you can't touch it, but it's what is keeping people's chest from being defined, why their arms are blocky and such. It's all fat and usually people just look at their bellies, figure there is XYZ fat there and that they can go on a diet, only lose the fat and no lean mass and once they drop exactly XYZ in weight they will be at their goal.

The reality, for many, is you end up having to lose double that initial estimate in weight before you get there.

In your case, strong recommendation to make lifting a priority. Make core movements a priority. Make getting stronger a priority. Do not show up to the gym and do cardio first, save an off day here or there. You might want to invest in a trainer and tell them you want to focus on the deadlift, bench and squat and see if they're good. If so, spend a few sessions with them getting your form right.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

lol yeah I'm sure you sit at 8% bf year round and bulk to 10% in the off season just like half the members at my gym and that one old guy that used to bench 500 pounds back in his day
