Bodpod is the most regarded method for BF testing, and iirc, the SugarFree1 guy said he'd been tested that way.

Just my $.02, I've seen youtube-style videos going over bodpod testing, one Veturvian video where he went through the testing of several youtube fitness people who'd been tested - and my walkaway was that even this most-trusted method was not that accurate. A lot of very lean looking guys ended up being higher, some stupidly so, than other guys who just looked flat and were at these ridiculously low 5-7%, which I just knew wasn't even close.

Specifically with SugarFree1, he's got an avi picture and he's lean and in shape in it and it, like my own, is older - so it may or may not apply to 2018. Again, he looks like a guy in great shape who is very lean in his avi, so this isn't me being a snarky dick trying to chit on anyone, but he is not near 5-7% BF in that picture. Not even close.

I think this might be a misunderstanding on his part, him getting tested and having it come back and legitimately tell him he's 6% and him just going off of that. Meanwhile, while he is in incredibly good shape and conditioning, he might be 12% or even more (which, btw, is extremely athletic and low). I don't know though.

I've never been super low bodyfat myself, but I strongly suspect at single-digit levels performance really begins to drop off, in the gym and in the bedroom, and that's not a sacrifice I'm interested in making by a long shot.

IIRC last update he was 5'10 and 176, it's been a month though so he could be down a few more lbs.

Ratfish, you better get a barbell on your back and start squatting. You need to build a solid core to see abs and not look like a holocaust survivor. It will be a lot easier to have visible abs if you put some time in training with heavy compounds. Dieting alone can get it done but you will be skeletor looking by the time you get there based on your current pics, and it isn't happening by Jan 1 from where you are. I don't think you would get there running PSMF at this point. Learn how to eat to your goal sustainably, train effectively, and set reasonable and achievable goals (probably focused on strength before abs). Abs will come in a LOT easier once you have built a solid foundation.

Comin in here to offer some perspective. Most of the really lean guys commenting here also have a significant amount of muscle. About 8 years ago I had a similar muscle mass to OP. I am 6'2", have a pretty big frame and very active mostly with bodyweight exercises and I had to cut down to 160 before I had visible unflexed abs. Glad to hear your heel has healed and your gonna get on that cardio cause you'll need it. Your a good poster OP and I don't want to see you banned

You'll probably have to drop to 130 pounds lol but who cares? You'll look way better and people in real life will think you got bigger.

What kind of stuff do you eat? Do you count everything? I started dieting around the time you made this thread and I've only lost like 8 pounds lmao. Didn't count calories for the majority of it though. Started doing that now so should see better results.

I'm not worried cause I live in the PNW too so have a minimum of 5 months before I need to be 13% or under when the sun comes out and it really matters. Prolly gonna be easy as fuk to reach.

don't think i'll ever be telling a gal how much i weigh. one came over yesterday and she was saying how much skinnier i am now (lol) and i put my hands under her armpits and lifted her off the ground for a few seconds so she probably thinks i weigh 200lbs.

i've been eating 560kcals of beef jerky (had to switch to it from steak because it's leaner and i needed the extra sodium to stop muscle cramps and twitches), a cup or so of nonfat yogurt (120kcals), a lb of wild shrimp (480 kcals), a cup and a half or so of peas (200kcals) and 2tbsp of grapeseed oil (240 kcals)

I guess i'm at 1600, not 1500

it's 2:19 right now and so far i've had 3 cups of green tea and walked for 1 hour

i could conceivably cut my calories down further, but i don't want to decrease nutrition anymore. i have micros pretty well covered.

Rat, i think the crap ton of cardio is a mistake. At least for the time being and in regards to fat burning. Cardio can burn a ton of calories but much of it can come from mass instead fat. At your current bf range, a 1500 calorie diet and a good lifting routine, you should be melting off 1% per week while protecting against muscle loss.

I usually hit a wall and start to stall out in my progress at around 11 to 10% at which time ill start adding in morning cardio sessions

Ill just add that ive been in your shoes in the past and it is a big reason im obsessive about bodyfat testing and watching against muscle loss

well, i'm eating 200g of protein a day and using walking for cardio for that reason. low draw and minimal glycogen depletion. i do a couple hours a day. probably worth 400 net kcals or so per day. maybe a little more since it's cold af now

In real life people generally(not lifters) equate getting leaner to looking bigger because visibly they look more muscular.
