I have the 30". If I were going to do it again, I'd get the 40", main reason being so that I could fit larger things without trimming. But you can still cook plenty in the 30". The first time I used it I did an 8 lb pork butt and something like 4 or 5 racks of ribs. I used a vertical rack to fit most on one grate, but to make them fit you have to cut off 2-3 ribs per rack. Those I just threw loosely onto another grate. For Thanksgiving I smoked a 16-18 lb turkey, I forget. But it was looking like it would be a tight fit, so I spatchcocked and quartered it which worked great.

But really I think I'd lean more towards a reflex than tube type on a shotgun. But I guess make sure that they're rated to handle that amount of shock from the recoil.

Actually, what's worse - the shock to the sight from the recoil of a shotgun or the reciprocating of the slide on a pistol?

I would expect this to be the case. My viper is still going strong on my g21 so I think I would trust one of thsoe on a shotgun.

I've got this model,https://www.amazon.com/Masterbuilt-2...propane+smoker, it bounces back and forth on price a lot. I got mine for around $200 I believe. I haven't used the model SpeedCheeser has, but strongly 3rd the use of the cast iron pan. Made things turn out a lot better. The 2 door set up is probably better than the 1 door model I have.

What kind of use? I used to use an Aimpoint Comp M2 on my shotgun but more recently switched back to Ghost Rings. Seemed like a waste of money for any application where I'd use it.

Anyone else barely even carry anymore? I went cold turkey on all my double stack guns, rarely carry a SS 9mm. If im heading into somewhere shady i'll pocket carry a Luger LCP2 but that's about it

I like Gabe Suarez's take on the issue...if it's just one gun of many available to you, the bead is probably best for its application. If it's your only gun, and you want to force it to do rifle-like things (beyond say 50 yd) then an RDS with cowitnessed irons is probably better.

Yeah, kinda thought that as I typed it out - surely if it can handle cycling back and forth on a slide, it should be fine on a shotgun.

Another thing to note - on the non thermotemp models, the racks are adjustable, but in the thermotemp models they have fixed positions, if that's an issue to you.

right on, how is it? When i googled best red dots for shotguns this was actually the top recomendation. I was surprised it was over the standard big dogs like trijicon/aim point/eotech
