She approached with her hand extended,. I slowly stepped back. "No" she said. "I just want to shake your hand. You're amazingly gorgeous." As she walked by me she copped a biceps feel.

Would be worse to be DYEL and have a chit deadlift. Better to be ugly and stronk than ugly and weak.

I do deadlifts, i have a decent deadlift, i don't really care if others want to do them or not, it's just my take on it.Personally i think having large spinal erectors is an aesthetic look.

Now, you say you like having large spinal erectors? Well that's okay but don't expect a bb judge or most other people to appreciate them.
Most bodybuilders train back for lat width and thickness.
I personally train deadlifts AND squats. But only for core strength, not aesthetics.

.I think for some people they will carry little value, it depends on the individual i guess, but guys like arnold and franco did them and rated them highly for bodybuilding.

It's all about leverages and specificity. Try a strength routine and you will be surprised at how strong will you get without adding any body weight at all. When I first did Madcows 5x5 I was progressing every single workout for 2 months, didn't gain 1 gram of bodyweight. Low reps are hard on your joints though...

It's too difficult to please 7 people.
If the judges like my physique I will place and take home some hardware.
If they don't I won't, no big deal.
It's a lot less stressful that way.

Probably the lift with the highest correlation of DYEL and fat fukk:to high numbers ratio, that's for sure.
Can't recall the number of times I've seen some ******* in spandex pants, carrying a notebook and deadlifting huge numbers. Often Sumo as well, which makes it even worse/looks even more ridicolous. brb 2 inch ROM for 2-3 reps, barely any time under tension, hardly a mystery why they look DYEL.

Misc standards are getting higher. First we have the daily if you don't make 200k/yr you're poor threads and now 500lbs on deads are twink mode.
In 5 years time 700lbs will be the new 500 and 400k the new 100k.

Dyel can pull heavy and look bad because they do 5 reps for a workout. Its all cns training. Plus sumo, and 6" rom...
My 61 year old father can pull 5 plates, it's not impressive. I maxed out last year 545x15. No cell-tech now so I sit around 6 plates for a triple but maybe once a month. High rep deadlift recover is not worth the minimal hypertrophy. Get better results with rack pulls and rdl and don't feel beat up all the time.

Maybe I overdue deadlifts but I can tell you that I mix low and high reps. Start w/ warmup, followed by heavy low reps and then follow with 315 for 5x10. I wouldn't call that useless by any means. If you do them right you're working much more than just your lower back, lol.
