Clearly my point was that it's retarded to say that that chart "proves" no pros use something. It's a survey of some USPSA competition shooters at a particular event, to treat it as the be all end all of what gear we should consider for a defensive pistol is beyond stupid.
BTW pretty sure Kyle Lamb reps S&W M&P as well

I have a dilemma at work. I have a good job. Don’t make a lot but whatever. It’s a Fortune 500 company and everyone makes about the same unless you are management. Been doing it a few years and I’m good at it.
Got contacted by a recruiter for a position in another group so I interviewed and was offered a position. But it’s the same pay essentially. A little more flexibility. Can come and go a little more and not as structured.
But I’d be leaving a job that I’m already good at to take a gamble on a job that I may or may not like. It would look good on a resume though and could open doors. Wouldn’t need to stay long if I didn’t want to.

MFC seems to have a hard on for him lately...IDk why?
I didn't think veggie was talking about sights or classes for competition.
veggie what do you compete in? These classes you're taking are for getting better at competing?
Is there a chart for what the "pros" use for carry or defense sights? You know, where there is likely to be low light?
Is there a chart for what people who professionally carry a gun for defense use? LEO, various .gov and .mil, current and former?

Looking back through older posts in the thread on this topic, it looks like for the "carry" side of things it basically is just coming down to the horse beaten to death argument of "fiber optic vs night sights".
Idk man, there's pros and cons to both, choose your poison. Fiber optic is going to be a lot better in good light, night sights (such as tritium) is going to be better in low light. However, it seems that the best option is a reflex sight (such as an RMR) if you can afford it.
Seems like the big dots are not something I'd care for (though I've never used them). I'd prefer a traditional front sight post (whether tritium or fiber optic) and rear notch. I guess the argument in favor for big dots is that you can line them up quicker when you're under duress, but I mean I think you can also just point shoot even faster at closer ranges and do that well with any type of sight, then the further out you go the better a rear notch is going to be.

If you look at page 42-43 of the magazine I linked (https://uspsa.org/magazine/view//2018-00#page=43), Carry Optics division has the most people using S&W at 27%, then Glock at 22%. Most likely because both of those manufacturers offer slides cut for optics from the factory (and because Carry Optics only allows models of guns that are also on the approved list for Production division).
Also when you say "pros", I don't know what constitutes as "pro" exactly, but I'd say that if someone's primary source of income is not either something from the firearms industry or from them using a gun in their day job (LEO/Mil) then they're not a "pro". I think that a lot, if not most, of the competitors at USPSA Nationals would not be considered "pros" by my definition, they're just really good shooters with normal people jobs.

I know of sponsored shooters that get free stuff (varying in degrees of value), but it's not a lot and at the end of the day they're going to compete with what they believe they can win with. If they can't win then they're not going to get sponsored.
I know of many A class, Master, and GM Production shooters (which are the top 10% of Production, not the general population of shooters) that aren't sponsored in any way and they compete with a lot of the same stuff that's on the charts. They could also do extremely well with almost any type of gun. I have personally seen them score extremely high with a CZ SP01 then turn around and do the same stage with an 8 round tube revolver only a second or two slower, they're just extremely good shooters, but they prefer certain types of guns for certain divisions (i.e. tool for the job).

If we want to discuss LEO / mil vs. competition shooters, I'd put money on LEO / mil being more constrained on what they're allowed to use (issued / available weapons vs. sponsorship).

Big Army was (still) using the M9 until recently and I'm guessing a lot of units still use them. Some US Mil units started using Glock pistols in 40 cal early after the start of the Iraq war. US SOF started buying G19s because the M9 was huge, and they could justify the G19 for plainclothes work. At the time, Glock was one of the only manufacturers (2006ish) producing well-known polymer pistols. It really depends on the unit though and when the guys served. Getting all of the paperwork in place to procure a weapon, plus holsters, plus magazines, is a pretty big undertaking. There's a lot of bureaucratic red tape involved...if Unit A gets it, Unit B has an easier time getting it.

Re the whole night sight thing they're good for a carry gun but I leave illuminated rears off the pistol I'd take into a serious end of the world fight. Same reason I dont wash my gear or clothing with detergent...all of that stuff shows up crazy bright under IR. If you've ever worn night vision in a class, guys wearing laundered gear appear shiney and similar to what white looks like to NVGs. Optics that have visible glow from the front are the same way - basically a "shoot me" sign. You can see night sights with NVGs from very far away glowing in their holsters. Front sight is cool but rears? No way.

TGIF you buncha homestyle pretzel heads. Because who doesn't remember spending all day in the kitchen with Grandma baking hard pretzel sticks.
Minor GST update: At a hearing last Monday, the judge granted a six-month continuance of the trial date to July 22, 2019. The parties now estimate a 30 day trial, versus a 16 day estimate they previously gave the judge. There are several more motion hearings to go, relating to admission of evidence of prior bad acts, the use of self-defense and battered woman syndrome arguments, and whether she testifies at trial.
