i think your calves look worse than they are because there isn't a shape to them. I know my brahs who played soccer have awesome legs from running hills.

Skinny calves crew here, but finally seeing some real progress. One thing I started doing (in addition to the added volume you just started) was following the advice I saw in one of Alberto Nunez's video blogs. Try and give a good 2-3 second pause at thebottomof the calf raise/press. There is a lot of tension/energy stored in the achilles, like an elastic, and it ends up supplying a non-trivial amount of the force at the bottom of the rep if you just go down and straight back up. Try lowering the weight, giving a 2-3 second pause at the bottom with a good, full stretch, and then pressing up and squeezing hard. Go for real quality reps and see what happens. You're gonna look beastly shredded.

my calves didn't respond to high frequency or heavy weight, i had tried every variation of heavy weight and high frequency chit you could imagine. it wasn't until i followed a bodyweight thing a guy on another forum swore by that I started growing. So on my leg days I'll do 4x failure bw calf raises on flat ground (slow and controlled 2 seconds up 2 seconds down squeezing as hard as you can at the top) with my arms leaning on something (so hips out behind you), then a static hold 4x failure for each leg. then standing straight the same thing. It sounds like a lot but you can rip through it in 20min max, and when you first try it you're going to be embarrassingly weak at it, i thought i had strong calves and remember struggling to get 5 solid reps after the first set
Will try. Thanks brosef!

I think I got them to grow a tiny bit a few years ago when I played ultimate frisbee.

Yes, they were smaller.

I may not pause enough at the bottom. I focus more on holding at teh top for a bit, but wasn't really thinking about that strong ass stretch reflex. Will try. Tired of looking swol from the knees up.

Goal by new years: 160

5'8, been lifting weights on and off for the last 10 years, so have no idea what my aesthetic weight would be. Going for 160 because i know mayweather is around that weight for his fights and he is a little shorter than me.

Eating 1500-1800 calories a day. One cheat every so often. Cardio 6 times a week (300-400 cal burned according to treadmill). Weights 3 times a week.

Thing is, i dont really look bad now, and When im at 200, i can fit into medium shirts, abs are somewhat visible, just love handles of peace, but i want to be aesthetic. This is my year. So i gotta go low to get there.

5lbs a month. 1.25 per week. i feel like i probably have a good body, just hiding under fat.

In. Dry and depleted 176 in Avi (5’8”) managed to keep visible abs for nearly an entire year (will be 1 year in March) but weaker than I used to be. Currently sitting around 185-189 depending on carb intake. Probably drop down to 180, I started feeling pretty beat up last year below 180 but that was about a 40lb cut (215 down to 175). Maybe I’ll be able to go a little further this year but I’ll take it by feel.
