When what happened to your friend, is probably the story of the overwhelming majority of humanity in regards to relationships. (Meh or OK, to 'WOW'!)

Psychological attraction developing over time, seems to be pretty much how everyone I've ever known has entered a relationship (even the ones that have developed to marriage).

I've only met a couple of those girls in my life. And, it took a lot of people to meet them and in diverse locations.

A female friend of mine lives in a small town and only sticks to her section of it. She says she can't find love but all she does is stick to the same little section of town, plus, she's obese and just won't lose weight. So, the the deal is she has very limited chance to meet anyone that will accept her, let alone love her, because she doesn't have the chance to meet many men.

And again I think that book conflates physical attraction with mental/emotional chemistry. Because many women lie about that and if asked why they turned down a guy they’ll say “no chemistry” or “no connection” when the real reason is “I found him unattractive.”
But how do you have sex with someone you don't feel chemistry with? I don't know, I don't think I could. Physical attraction is different than sexual attraction. I have found guys very physically attractive that I didn't want to have sex with because there was no chemistry/spark.

I also agree with you regarding that book. Also, maybe it's because I've been married and have a kid that I'd rather not settle for someone that won't make me happy in the long run. I still have a sex drive even though I'm old as dirt. I still want passion. I'm sure if that's not important to someone it's easier to find a relationship.
