Don't be a tool and put words in my mouth.

Made clear repeatedly that I hate gun control laws, that they are unconstitutional and don't work. That I would like everyone to have absolutely free access as long as they don't have violent felony convictions (I'm even ok with non-violent felons). Again,I have an extreme anti gun control stance

I just don't want to subject law enforcement (on duty) to stupid gun laws simply because citizens are already subject to stupid gun laws.

We had a meeting scheduled with the IRS this morning for an audit of a multi-billion dollar merger that closed last year. The IRS agent didn't show up for the meeting, and she never called to cancel. We called her at the IRS office. Her voicemail says she will not be available for the duration of the shutdown. It is going to be months before they get to us now. This sh!t has gotten fukking ridiculous.

Kind of BS because don’t they get back pay once the gov is back? So the ones taking off will get extra paid vacation essentially.

He's not putting words in your mouth. Examine your position against what he said before getting defensive. Cops aren't special the same way accountants aren't special.

This is the dumbest line or reasoning ever. There is a big difference between off duty cops and on duty cops. I agree off duty, they shouldn't have any special privileges. On duty, it's insane to say they aren't special in terms of the need for their firearms. Nobody is expecting an accountant to enter a mass shooting situation they weren't involved in.

This is essentially arguing that if the state wants to limit civilian access to large diameter hoses for environmental purposes, firefighters should also be limited to garden hoses to do their job. It's an absolutely insane position.

Yeah it would be insane to limit the firefighters too, so just don't limit anyone. I think that's what Farley and the others are getting at: police and the common folk should have access to the same gear, if folk aren't allowed then so shouldn't police; if police need it then just remove the restrictions for everyone. I don't think Farley is saying "police don't need it" I think hes saying simply "police shouldn't get it if folk can't either".

I also think when the gov wants to come confiscate your guns they just need to get big fire hoses from the local fire department.

I agree I would rather have no restrictions at all. But the idea that since we currently have restrictions, cops should have them too is terrible. It's just sour grapes because we all know we've been screwed as private citizens. If they actually implement the same firearms rules for police, people will die. There is no question. If someone has a proposal for how we actually get the existing laws repealed, great. But the sour grapes path against on duty cops just doesn't seem productive.

Law enforcement needs to stand united with us on the principle that "We do need it, but if regular Joe's can't have it then neither should we." That would be a large deterrent to the laws being put in place to begin with, and it would be a good start to repealing existing laws.

It's not sour grapes to think that the laws should cover all civilians the same way. If some rule would make it so that people will die if cops follow the rules, we need to adjust the rules, not exempt certain professions from following them.

Yeah, on duty armed government enforcers are, historically, the ones responsible for millions of murders.

Care to cite the Constitution or Bill of Rights that specifically and explicitly protects the Right of The People to keep and bear water hoses without infringement? I'll wait.

Exactly how much of a liberal nutjob are you that now you support banning high capacity garden hoses, exactly? FFS man

PS: The solution to that is not to ****ing ban high capacity garden hoses

Correct.

I have very explicitly and repeatedly said, for example, that if police need X, other people also need X.

No that's just you not being smart enough to comprehend.

Here you go saying people will die again. You realize governments have murdered more people throughout human history than private citizens have...right? But hey, a force monopoly on the group that is responsible for most murders is a great idea.

If people are less safe because the professionals they call to save them cannot have X, they are also less safe because they cannot have and use X to protect themselves.
