If you want to argue semantics then the guardians/caretakers/parents/legal guardians/custodians of the children are responsible(but I can't fit that in the title)

It isn't an unreal situation either. Faulting people for their birth seems very far stretched.

How could anyone have kids without a secure home, access to weapons or a plan in case shtf??? I wouldn't be able to sleep at night in those circumstances
A parent bears the ultimate responsibility and any lack of contingency or forethought is on them. Extreme ownership

It's true.
Besides all of the religious chit, thanks to my upbringing I didn't turn into a hoodrat. First time my father caught me sagging my pants I got a smack and a lecture.

Nature vs nurture argument has been around for ages. While there is no clear cut answer upbringing plays a massive role no matter how you slice it. Without bringing in extreme examples I'd say its somewhere around 50/50 give or take depending on your perspective.
There are some generally interesting studies and cases of identical twins being raised in different environments from birth. If this is something you actually care to know more about rather then just spewing opinions on the misc look into it.

Cant be arsed to find the actual studies this isn't unique and I'm on a phone

Two things mainly influence how a kid turns out - their parents and their friends. If the kid has great parents but bad friends, there's a chance they'll turn out bad as well. And vice versa.

Nah thatβs just a cop-out for people who are **** ups in life. You can come from a chit environment & turn out fine & alternatively you can come from a great environment & turn out to be an absolute train wreck.
Itβs ultimately on you.

Wrong. You cannot stop every child from being their own person no matter what you teach them about discipline.

If you're a parent it's ultimately on you.
One does not exclude the other and everyone must be responsible in life boyo.
Imagine if I purported your argument to parents "oh how your kid turns out is their responsibility"...either way it's not a good outlook

What if war breaks out and there are limited opportunities?
Parents canβt always control that!
Best parents can do is invest in you and teach you to think for yourself but the way you turn out has to do with your shifting outer environment too!

Dirty, based on your posts I think you'll make a good parent someday if you have kids. While I generally agree with your sentiment about parenting being the single biggest factor in how people turn out. I don't think it's fair to say 100% Becoming a parent is incredibly humbling because you realize that not only are you not doing EVERYTHING perfectly but also that you CAN'T. It's not possible. Nobody in the history of the world has ever been perfect and by extension been a perfect parent. Part of you will always think/wonder if you're REALLY doing everything you possibly can for your kid(s).
