Boxing is great, but if you think that would be the standard outcome between a boxer and a wrestler then you are delusional and coping hard.

Ded srs question.

Brb grab the guy, and throw him hard down on to the floor, or on to a table. Fight over.

Boxing and it's not even close.

Fact is, you only need one good hook to the gabber and your opponent is out cold. Fists of fury will win almost everytime.

Just lol at thinking ground game exists on the streets. By then people will break it up.

And nobody is throwing you around when you're 6'2"+ and 200lbs+. So wrestling goes out the window there.
Look, i know i don't really know you and all, and i know you probably hear this like everyday, but your just so perfect to me. The few hours we talked were really great even if the convo was stale, your really pretty and chill, and your country thats just perfect :'D i really dont know how to explain it, but i think i have feelings for you somehow. i never felt like this with someone i just met, but i felt the need to get it off my chest. sorry for being all weird just idk how to explain it D:

Because the average dude looking for trouble isn't that size.

used it so much that he went pro and completely abandoned it. go into a fight with the sole plan of "grab guy and slam he hard down on the floor" and tell me how that works out for you.

or you can watch Rhonda Rousey vs. Hollie Holm. Or anyone vs Amanda Nunes. see Conor Mcgregor lol.

Ronda tried that cute Judo/BJJ chit against a Boxer/Kickboxer vs Holm. destroyed.
Ronda tried that cute Judo/BJJ chit against boxer Amanda Nunes..her career was ended.
Jose Aldo tried that cute Muay Thai/ BJJ against conor McGregor. got dropped in .32 seconds.

if youre keeping track:

The baddest woman on the planet (Amanda Nunes) is a boxer. wrecking fools
Judo WORLD CHAMPION Rousey was wrecked by two boxers.
BJJ WORLD CHAMPION jose aldo was wrecked by a boxer.

but yea. throw guy hard on ground sounds like a better game plan.

Yes so i'm not really worried about getting thrown around like a sack of potatoes.

I definitely do not look for trouble and always keep my cool unless something really irks me. I am usually the calmest man in the room srs.

I learned how to box in high school, and would continue later on with just a home punching bag. It was the best decision i have ever made. Because not only do I feel confident in my self defense, I also learned about respect and to not be a bully just because I know how to fight now, which as what the trainer taught me. I treat everyone with respect initially.

Yeah... You'll see a grappler, trying to box a world champion boxer.

When she was already lit up via striking, she attempted sloppy takedowns. Holly has trained take down defence. Did you not recognize that?

Like I said, the early UFCs show what happens when a grappling goes against a pure strikers. Grapplers dominate.

All the examples you posted, are people who are either highly trained in grappling, or have learned grappling defence. They aren't pure strikers.

Again, I invite you to watch the early UFCs, hours of evidence there. Then strikers began to train grappling defence.

If you don't see the defence that all the names you mentioned do against clinching, or attempted takedowns, then you simply don't understand what you are seeing.

you cutting out 99% of my post to nit pick is pathetic, even for misc standards.

the old NBA had dominant big men requirements to win championships. now, you don't need one at all. the game has changed. I wouldn't refer to old NBA tapes to see how I should play the game now...stop telling me how MMA God Gracie looked back then. idc. the game is different now.

Have you ever watched Holy Holm? her take down defense is laughable at best. "youre watching a grappler vs a striker"..oh. so a wrestler vs a boxer? yea. She was the catalyst to Ronda Rousey going to WWE. Amanda Nunes (the girl that just destroyed cyborgs face recently) is such a strict boxer its incredible. Shes legit fun to watch because she throws bricks at you.

you don't know what youre talking about.

with your awful logic - Nunes would be so easy to beat because all she would have to do is go against a wrestler or BJJ person and she would get mopped. same with Mcgregor. but that isn't happening.

THe McGregor for Aldo fight is a perfect example. Over extending vs a striker will result in a KO EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

How did Wrestler Randy Couture vs former world champion in 3 different weight divisions James Toney turn out?

Doesn't quite fit into your delusional view. That's just one example.

You keep talking about how strikers would best grapplers, so matches showing grapplers vs strikers is revelant. Hence the early UFCs.

We have video evidence regarding what we are talking about, no need for 'what if'.

The evidence is clear, grapplers dominated strikers: Royce Gracie, Dan Severn, Ken Shamrock. All of them faced strikers, and beat them.

It wasn't until strikers began to learn grappling defence (Eg. Maurice Smith) that the tables began to turn, and grapplers realized they hand to begin to learn striking.

Have you watched the early UFCs?
Have you ever watched Holy Holm? her take down defense is laughable at best.
Yeah... That's why I said that Ronda tried to grapple after she got lit up through trying to box with Holly.

I literally just wrote that.

You edited your post, I'll address this...

Nunes is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Conor Mcgregor is a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (one belt away from black).

They aren't pure strikers, they know grappling defence.

Again, I'm referering to pure strikers vs grapplers.

Nunes and Mcgregor know that they need grappling training, to compete in MMA.

Also, seeing as you seem to love Conor so much, and hold him up as an example of the superiority of striking...

He was 47.
because he was old as dirt and it was his FIRST time stepping in an octagon. I'm glad you brought up Randys age. you could safely assume that Randy had been training martial arts as long as Toney has been alive.

httrl]
yea I don't like conor McGregor at all and think he is an overrated hype job who stole every bit of Floyd Mayweathers promotion techniques.

he has one move and that's his check counter punches. the step back uppercut or stepback straight. that's how he dropped aldo and how he smacked Mayweather with that uppercut.

I'm just using him as an example. Holly Holm is still a good example and her take down defense isn't that good. they might have belts in those respective skills but their base/success relies solely on their striking. especially Mcgregor.

I'm not saying wrestling is a useless talent. I'm saying that if youre in a street fight, being able to punch effectively is the single most important skill to have.

not sure why this is even a debate

If that is all you are saying, then I agree.

(Though I would say being able to strike is the most important skill. A strike can be a slap, palm heel, head butt, etc.)

I mean traditional striking. Kicks, Knees, Elbows, Punching.

Ive been boxing for 21 years and I would be absolutely terrified to go against a Kick Boxer lol. that's about the only skill I fear. If someone is trained in Judo, M Thai, etc I wouldn't be as worried because in boxing youre trained to hold distance and use footwork to close distance quickly..

kick boxing is a whole different animal. They close distances entirely too quickly for just about any martial art to defend against.

You're not as worried about Muay Thai as you are kickboxing?

I don't understand that rationale.

Most kickboxing champs have cross trained in Muay Thai. Muay Thai has clinching.

Tai Chi. I used to practice it, and you wouldn't believe the reflexes and stability you get.

I don't understand that rationale.

Most kickboxing champs have cross trained in Muay Thai. Muay Thai has clinching.
The gym I train at right now is an MMA gym. 99.5% of the ppl I coach and train with are Muay Thai based. This is a small sample size overall obviously but it’s not even close. There’s just a different level of quickness and precision with kickboxing. A Muay Thai / Kickboxing mixed master would be dangerous obviously. But anyone with that formula is probably already a pro

No question Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. You don't need to train in boxing or get a black belt in tae kwon do in order to do the two most effective moves in a street fight: 1. Wild overhand right and 2. knee/kick to the balls. Grappling/submission techniques, on the other hand, doesn't come natural and needs to be taught.

And people can have Jiu Jitsu, Free Style Wrestling, Greco Roman Wrestling, or Catch wrestling as their grappling foundation.

There is no system of techniques or principles, because it's a ruleset. Any techniques or principles of any combat sport/martial art, can be used under the ruleset.

If you do more research into Sambo, you'll likely see the difference.

(I know very little about Krav Maga, so I won't comment on that.)

Calling MMA a martial art, is like calling K1 or Glory a marital art... Do you see how ridiculous that is?
Combat Sambo is literally a mixed martial art.

Forgot to answer...

He defeated him using pure wrestling.

Toney was a 3 time world champion in boxing.

Randy never was a world champion in wrestling, the highest level he got to was an Olympic alternative.

An Olympic alternative level wrestler beat a 3 time world champion level boxer, using pure wrestling.

I took him 15 seconds to get the low single, and less than 4 seconds to secure full mount.

Not, it's a marital art.

By your reasoning, all martial arts are mixed martial arts.

Brazilian Jiu jitsu was derived from Judo, Judo was derived from Japanese Jiu Jitsu (they made it a marital arts and combat sport). Japanese Jiu Jitsu, was created by various martial arts.

What makes a martial art is that it is a system of technique and principles.

MMA is not a system of techniques and principles, it's a rule set. It allows people to use different martial arts (ie. systems of combat), under a ruleset.

Calling MMA a martial art, is like calling K1 a martial art.

Just lol at thinking ground game exists on the streets. By then people will break it up.

Andnobody is throwing you around when you're 6'2"+ and 200lbs+. So wrestling goes out the window there.
LOL

I am 6’2 200+ and got tossed around like a rag doll by a minor local wrestling champ who was about 6’0 180 when he trained me a bit. So yes, when you’re 6’2 200 lbs you DO get thrown around. It just depends on who is doing the throwing around. You VS a good wrestler = you get thrown around and mauled. Reality.

Semantics. Since Combat Sambo is basically MMA and competition closely resembles MMA, guys don’t even have to learn anything new when they go into MMA from Combat Sambo, if Sambo is on the list in OP, MMA should also be. Combat Sambo is basically MMA for military. COmbat Sambo competition is MMA competition almost exactly, there are small rule and attire changes.
