I dunno if I'm gonna make it brahs. I've been averaging 2000-2100 cals a day for a few weeks now and haven't dropped any weight. I count and weigh everything on a scale and MyfitnessPal so it's legit.
I lift 3-4 days a week and do 45-60 minutes of cardio 5-7 days a week too. Burning 20,000-21,000 cals a week based on my fitbit charge 3 HR. So like 2,800-3,000 cals a day. Definitely should be dropping weight.
Gah, if it stays like this might have to drop to 1800 for 8-10 weeks. I look a bit leaner though so maybe there's a whoosh coming. Fat feels and looks softer and can feel those little marbles underneath the skin. According to Lyle McDonald that's a good sign.

My weight will go up the next day or two, most likely from food in my gut, but it starts to drop again later in the week.

On a more general point: have any of you dealt with 'body dysmorphia'? My wife paid me a compliment recently on my upper back and I honestly can't see it unless I've got something like overhead lighting in a dark room. So when she says 'wow your upper back is improving' I sort of say something like 'meh', and this week she did a "It's becoming pointless complimenting you, because nothing I say seems to satisfy you", and in a way she's right - I value the opinions of lifters a lot more than anyone else. And when I told this to her she said that my inability to 'praise myself' is a sign of 'body dysmorphia' but my point is this: if I'm not happy with how I look now (and I'm not, and based on bb09's post I think I have years to go) why isthat a problem? Why can't we be self-critical, perhaps even harshly so, without it being 'body dysmorphia'?

every lifter is hyper critical of themselves, it's when it reaches obsession that it becomes unhealthy. If you aren't working towards a show and you avoid going out to eat with friends, avoid going to partys and hanging with friends just cause it might impact your diet or training or whatever then it's bordering obsession. Not to say I haven't and won't continue to do chit like that in certain ways but it's something I recognize that i've tried to work on. That's one reason I'm kind of half assing this cut right now, got other people in my life and I know I need to break out of the "hermit mode when cutting" chit. Also ed's and what not are stupid common in gyms but few ever mention how common that chit is

fugggg need some motivation brahs. Life smacked me over the head lately. School has been hellish, finals coming up. about 2-3 weeks ago had a complete melt down and ruined my relationship with gf due to me being a big btch and getting cold feet about commitment in certain aspects of life. Now struggling every day with guilt wanting to go back but not sure if that bridge can be repaired. Usually can handle stress like this by working out to death but this chick was damn good and is sittin in my head 24/7, even at the gym. Need some energy from my aesthetic brahs to keep me on the path

I must confess I'm not that shredded today.
I'm 23 pounds heavier than that pic. I can still see my abs and delt striations.
I'm very slowly shredding my way back to that condition.

Does anyone here deal with arthritis in their shoulder? I'm getting seen by the doctor next week to see what's wrong with my shoulder and I suspect its arthritis. I hope I'm wrong.

Setting a weight at which one thinks he/she will acquire The Shredz is a set up for failure.
The pic of me above in post#676 I weighed around 164lbs.
I look pretty good...yes?
You will look bigger with The Shredz at a lower weight than you do now in your pic.
Set your sights on the end result..The Shredz.
Here's a great example and explanation about this;
See how much bigger that guy looks at a much lower weight?

I weigh 197lbs and I've gotten fat again. Starting my diet back up today and will be doing cardio everyday. I want to lose 37lbs by mid July so I'll weigh in at 160lbs which is my target goal weight.
I've been depressed lately and have been eating like chit. I havent been watching my weight. This is what I get for fuking my diet up and not going to the gym. But, all that changes starting today.
Hitting the gym 7 days a week and doing cardio. I have a fire lit under my ass now and I'm going to do what I got to do to lose this weight.

I gained some decent strength over the winter and a little weight. AVI and profile pic is me at 174. Iâm currently sitting at 191. My barbell routine is a HLM and designed in cycles to peak you for a meet or PR attempts. It focuses on the powerlifting lifts + OHP. I add in pull-ups but thatâs it.
I want to get lean for summer (back to the low 170s, I think) and hold on to my strength as much as possible, of course. But I wonder if I should be following a program that is trying to make me stronger and getting progressively more difficult while in a deficit.
Do you guys run some kind of repeatable routine thatâs not really about progressive overload (knowing youâll likely be losing some strength)? Or should I just keep trying to follow the program even if I start missing lifts and losing strength? Should I add any specific âbodybuildingâ type exercises or just go with what I have?
I am actually 49 and natural so recovery can be a factor (mostly because my sleep quality is chit, I think)

I am actually 49 and natural so recovery can be a factor (mostly because my sleep quality is chit, I think)

so i'd continue doing what you're used to. you might lose some strength or stamina and have to decrease amount of sets, or lose a rep here and there.
then again, you might even gain strength in certain movements even while cutting. just try to at least maintain as best as you possibly can.
added to that, you're only looking to lose 15 pounds or so, that shouldn't cause a dramatic shift in amount of weight lifted. I've lost 30 pounds since October and am still gaining strength or at the very least maintaining.
