- That philosophy only works if.....
- The kids stay in a banged up motel whilst you stay 5 star with the wife.
- Kids eat from the average food truck whislt you and the wife dine Michelin style 5 star.
- Each kid get $50 for the week, if they blow it in 2 days fuk them. You and the wife blow up the Amex Black at Haute couture stores.
- and on and on
Utterly stupid
You can spoil a poor kid just as easily as you can spoil a rich kid. It's about discipline, mindset and boundaries. Not who flies what class and skimping on minor sh!t you can afford. Gordon's a kunt
I just came here on the internet to lie

Why bother even having kids if you think they're nothing but an inconvenience and drain on money? They didn't have any choice in the matter of being born.
What's the point in having hundreds of millions, and not using it to enhance yours and your loved ones time on Earth?
I would buy their homes outright and make sure they had a lifetime monthly allowance that would cover all their basic expenses. This would bring peace of mind to all. They then have the option to work for any extra money they might want.

completely different circumstance to the one with his kids i know, but no concessions to close family members in need when you have that much money just out of pride or whatever is dumb

I wouldn't want my kids to live a "regular life". I would want them to learn the skills to live agoodlife, which is more than regular, and also more than jerking off 24/7 in comfort. There's a happy medium of showing them the real world and guiding them into good situations without handing them everything so that they lack the skill-set that people call "grit" or "resilience".
I rather enjoy my time doing hobbies or explore the world or spend it on whatever i want to spend it on, rather than do work that i don't enjoy for someone else. Every millionaire says the same thing: Time becomes most valuable. So why waste it doing something you don't enjoy, unless you're talking about doing work like your own business that you find joy in.
Like I said, we're talking past each other. I was explicit: thatIwant to do. That's what wealth is. Options. I don't know 65-year-old me yet. That might mean investing in startups, or philantrophy, or it might mean running a bait shop by a nice lake, but I'll want to dosomethingwith my time to remain a consequential person. SomethingIwant to do.I'd want my kids to have options, too. That doesn't mean extending them so much unearned luxury that I teach them not to exercise any of them.
Why would you put your kids through the same chit we normal people have to endure if it's optional?
Again, baseline of normal adult perspective that is required to function as a man. Flying coach isn't "being put through some chit", and if you feel like it is, it might be your coping skills that are the problem. Flying on a bench seat in a troop transport isn't even "being put through some chit".Now flying on a troop transport that's getting shot up? That's "being put through some chit", and is a thing that lots of normal people have to endure. It's also something I'd want my kids to be able to opt out unless it's the life they want, but also to be able to persevere through if they had to.
And it doesn't have to be 1 or the other. You can raise perfectly fine kids even if you don't make them get a job.
I'm unpersuaded of this- although I take a broader view of what a "job" means. When I was younger, I used to believe that everyone could simply choose to think clearly and leave bad situations, like I did. As I've had more exposure to cyclical poverty in rural places and urban places alike, I've seen what learned helplessness does to people. I don't see excessive wealth as any less potentially toxic. If you don't learn to help yourself, you learn an alternative skill-set that allows you to fake your way through life and paper over problems without ever really being in control. It's an empty way to be.Even the bible says that a man who fails to teach his son a trade is teaching him to be a thief. You learn discipline from taking on real responsibilities and eating your mistakes, and why right and wrong matter.

I'm going against the grain on this one a little bit...I didnt bust my a** for the last 25 years for nothing. I busted my a** to give my kid the best life she could have. Part of giving my kid the best life is ABSOLUTELY teaching them hard work, grit and sacrifice. BUT giving them a leg up or the best start is also part of helping them to obtain the best life.
Example - If my daughter wants to be a world class horse trainer she is going to spend sun up to sun down at a barn doing the worst task to the most important task. She will sweep stalls, cleaning up crap, feed horses, etc....BUT Im also going to give her the best education that money can provide. Im going to send her to the greatest training academies. Im going to find mentors for her that can train and open doors...If I can open doors for her, I will do it. She will be debt free when she starts her life and I will provide the financial backing for a time that allows her to soak up risks to do something greater with her life.
In the end just because someone helps guide your path and opens doors for you does NOT mean you havent busted your a** and deserve what you get. In addition this life is shiddy. Why in the world wouldnt I "break the ice" for the person that I love the most as long as they have an appropriate foundation, appreciation and respect.

Fantastic! Now if we can get more parents to start this business, our world would completely change in 10 years.
Thus let me live, unseen, unknown;
Thus unlamented let me die;
Steal from the world, and not a stone
Tell where I lie.

Maybe he's lying about the inheritance so they won't expect it, then when he dies he leaves a video saying "Sike! I just didn't want y'all to be lazy fuks" and then gives them everything.

The whole point of becoming wealthy and having kids is that so they don't need to go through the chit you had to go through imo.

Kids of wealthy parents have murdered entire families just to get the inheritance sooner.

Lol what is the point of achieving mass sums of wealth and not securing your families future?
I don't understand wealthy people that intentionally screw over their kids for the sake of teaching them independence.
Guy sounds like a complete kunt that is getting back at his parents through his own kids.

Normal. Adult. Baseline. Perspective.
Flying coach is not "going through chit". If you can't handle it to the point that you have an expectation that others will pay for your upgrade to spare you the inhumanity, you're fuarked in the head and don't deserve to be taken anywhere.

Living a life of comfort and security is not a real life and does not prepare you for anything but letting other people do for you rather than do yourself. I was going to say you probably want a nanny government and end up like the EU....But then again your from the UK where you expect the Government to be your parent and give you everything you want as well so yeah.

Going through college if it's not your dream to pursue something that requires it, making homework stressing over exams every day is also chit.
So why put your kids through it? Do you think it takes having a job for x amount of years just to learn perspective? It doesn't.
If you hit your hand with a hammer, you learn pain. There's no point to hit it a 100 times more. You already learned the lesson.
I'm unpersuaded of this
There have been extremely religious parents where the daughters became giant sloots or even ended up in pron.Just because you try to teach 1 thing, doesn't mean that it will work the way you want.
Making your kids get an actual job for the next 30 years and struggle through college etc, who is to say that they will turn out for the better? There's a ton of people who that routine who became depressed.
If you want to teach your kids a lesson, expose them to something so they can learn but don't make them get stuck with it.
Let them have a summer job with a minimum wage and cut them off completely for a few months. They'll learn what it's like to work and how difficult it is to make money.
But now that lesson is learned, why even bother making them get a job longer than that? It serves no purpose.

I just didn't want y'all to be lazy fuks" and then gives them everything.
If you pull up his instagram he has pics with his kids and he tags them. If you pull up his kids IG they have family photos and pictures with him in there. I don't know any young people that have a screwed up relationship with their parents that are posting family pictures on social media and pictures with their father on social media. Plus if you ever see any of the videos he posts when he's cooking at home and his kids are around they definitely don't appear to have a hostile relationship.

It's far from "regular life". That's the unusual disaster outcome that you're trying to avoid by teaching people normal life skills so they can function without you and your money.
Maybe the real issue here is that poorcels who think being trapped in a minimum wage job is normal are unaware of their own failure, and even when rich, would still proudly insist on transmitting their broken, low-energy values to their children.
There have been extremely religious parents where the daughters became giant sloots or even ended up in pron.
Just because you try to teach 1 thing, doesn't mean that it will work the way you want.
Some high school dropouts become billionaires, too. It doesn't mean your precious and unique starchild is going to beat the odds.Just because you try to teach 1 thing, doesn't mean that it will work the way you want.

This thread is bananas.

I'm with choco nips up there. I think Gordon's intentions have always been to support his children, but he's playing hardball and saying they aren't receiving his riches in order for them to pursue and follow their dreams.
In Gordon's head, he gained a multi-million dollar fortune by following his passion for cooking. Perhaps he thinks that his kids won't be as motivated to succeed if there's a pot of gold already in their hands. Maybe Gordon thinks that life isn't all about money and that it's about succeeding in whatever you love.
