Wow I expected this thread to be about 40+ year olds... 30!?!? Cry me a river cupcake and work ****ing harder. If you're losing gains at 30, your training or diet sucks

I didn't start training until i was 23

Ok so one day It's gonna slow down but you can stay strong and jacked into middle age no problem

I fought competitively (including as a welterweight which is tough after) and benched 2 plates for reps for 10+ years and just starting to make real gains now

I am mid 40s and can still make gains. My work is killing it right now but i am still maintaining. Only about 4-5lbs off of my target maint. weight. About 20months ago may have been my best as far as Lean/Muscle.

/thread. This dude is bigger than OP has ever been.

Yes, it gets harder as you age, but people need to stop making excuses.

I must have all of those same things at 39 and have only gotten stronger. Maybe you guys have missed that fact that we are not all created equally.

I just squatted 650x3 and 650 was my max a year ago...I've changed nothing in that time frame but removed excuses and worked harder.

I am completely aware of that and realize everyone has their challenges physically, mentally and so on. I find escape and recovery when I touch the weights which is why I go and stay longer every single time I do not ant to go at all because I know I need it. I record my lifts and stuff so that when I have days that suck, I look at those lifts for 2 years ago and realize how far I've come.

The mental aspect of life, employment, relationships, etc. is so important it's staggering. Tell yourself your day will be sh!t or someone will fuk you over...you bet your ass that's exactly what is going to happen.

I think the bolded is the biggest predictor of bb'ing. Not everyone has the genetics to be aesthetic and gain a good amount of muscle. They could work out harder than anyone and they still won't look like you (general aesthetic lifters) or be able to lift like "you". I can understand how that would be frustrating as heck. Still not an excuse to LDAR. Working out has more benefits than just getting someone physically aesthetic.

Put in the work kids. Consistency is the key. I have been lifting for over 20 years, but really didn't make the biggest impact until the last 10. That;s when I learned more about Macros and how to lift more efficient/smart.

This was at 43. Not perfect or shredded, competition, IG posting material, but compared to my peers I am cool with it.

Genetics is everything in bodybuilding. Look at David Laid he is a legit 6'3 185 lbs and looks absolutely massive. Most guys would have to be 6'3 210 to look like him but for some reason he just looks way better.

IMO, you are in the top 1% of your age group. It's easy to not see that when you're on this website or at the gym around other fit people, but just look at the general population when out doing errands or at work and it's very noticeable.

Looking GREAT!

This is what too many people miss.

As we get older it isn't about lifting the most weight every session.
This eventually leads to injury and joint pain.

It's about learning to lift smarter and effectively.

Most younglings seem to think they can lift M-F and then get yucky on the weekend, eat whatever they want and still make gains.
Eventually that will catch up with them.

It's more about the macros than you think.
