barbell looks goofy other than that it's a solid idea, needs a redesign though

It looks like it would be useful to anyone that's loading weighted pushups. The problem is that's not a popular exercise and most people won't need the capabilities of loading that much weight. If you can refine the design you'll need a pro bber or two with large social media followings to plug your product.

When I first started 'working out' I managed to load 60lbs worth of sand-bags in a backpack. It was pretty horrible but it worked for what it was. If your serious about patenting a design you may want to consider something more compact. And perhaps something that takes sand-bags. Instead of a product that requires a gym/rack you'd be better off with a stand alone pack/weight combo.

Another idea would be some kind of plank you put down and you attach a band to either side that goes over your upper back. It would use a band instead of a weight.

Actually one might argue that pushups are a safer exercise and require far more core/muscle groups then the bench-press. I personally think a weighted push-up is superior to a flat bench-press.

When I do triceps I prefer a diamond pushup to a close grip barbell press.

The barbell is no more of a hazard than when using a barbell for squats or deadlifts. It requires basically the exact same amount of space. You guys are just holding the vanity of this device above the actual problem that it solves... that makes zero sense.

If you want to progress on push-ups and get results, you will basically have no choice but to use a device like this unless you have access to a pitshark machine.
Except it is. When doing squats, deadlifts, hip thrusts, snatches, you're using your arms to move the bar or hold the bar steady. You have a lot more control over what your arms do than if you were to just have it sticking on your back.

Imagine holding a backpack with your arms. You can place it on a table, move it around people, put it above your head, etc. Now if the backpack is on your back, you can't really do most of that stuff. You may not even be aware of your spacial footprint with just a regular backpack. Countless times I, and others, have had our backpacks knock stuff off tables, brush other people as we walk by them, etc.

Not sure why you're not taking what misc says seriously. We are your potential customers. Companies pay millions to marketing companies for feedback like this. You're getting it for free.

So instead of being pinned against a bench it's pinned against weight plates? I'm out. Please don't invest your life savings in this

Hahahah mirin the ingenuity of your contraption but lol'd hard at the barbell. looks pretty impractical, plus what happens if you pin yourself?
Why not just make a vest that has hooks on the front and use resistance bands that hook to a platform on the floor. resistance bands are all the rage these days.

I'd say have some other way to hang and load it so people can use it at home.

Well, if you’re going to be moving around anymore than what it takes to un-rack the bar, take a step or two back, get into position, and then re-rack it, then that would be an operator error. But to do the aforementioned (using it correctly) does not require much space - as also demonstrated in the vid - and should not pose as a hazard as long as you’re aware of your surroundings and do a few test runs with the device so that you’re comfortable using it before going heavy with it.

Your feedback is great though, i really do appreciate it man. Your concern is definitely valid and I’m sure others feel the same way as you do, but it is not as much of an issue as you’d think. I really wish I could get some miscers to test it out so they could see for themselves..

Awesome product.

Constructive criticism. If you could lead a line down the front of one of the straps that opens the bar attachment mechanism to break free from it, kind of like how a TV mount has those strings to detach the claw. That way you are not stuck having a bar on your back unless you want to.

Edit. When you go to put it back simply back up on the bar again, draw the string to open the claw on the hanging mechanism and secure it.

Vanity is most definitely an issue if you're going to market to gyms. Have you ever been to a gym man? All the dudes wear cut off shirts to flex on people and all the chiks wear tight yoga pants to show off their asses. Sorry bro but a barbell on your back looks goofy and your average gym bro or gym sloot aren't going to do an exercise that makes them look dumb when they're trynna show off.

This is unfortunately not universally available and the atlas trainer itself is not usable for push-ups from what I can tell (doesn’t look like the back surface is flat) and on top of that it wouldn’t be independently loadable/usable for heavy weights, nor is it very affordable. $300 is very steep. With the device I created, you can walk into just about any gym and it will be usable, the entire device only weighs 10 lbs so it’s very transportable. It can also be producible at a much lower cost than that.

And yes, I have a very strong clamp for it that holds the weight in place because I wanted this device to be multifunctional for weighted chin-ups, pull-ups, and other closed chained exercises as well.
You should market this to Canadian forest firefighters. That video I posted is the fitness test, and although it doesn't really show through the video, I can tell you that it's damn hard and anyone who doesn't train for it will fail. That guy in the video is also phenomenally fit to achieve a sub 10 minute time. I used an old camping backpack with a 60 lbs cement bag in it - it's not quite as elegant nor is it comfortable.

You answered my next question, how much it weighs. Plan is definitely to bring it with me to the gym, and 10 lbs is good.

Dips are in a whole other league of their own when it comes to shoulder issues
disagree. do a pushup at 45 v 90 and see what happens in terms of shoulder stress. wanna engage your pecs at 45? go down to the ground, deload fully and reload pecs first.

also if you stop rejecting constructive criticism so hard, you might actually get somewhere with this. but keep defending the idea like this is the best practical option out there despite looking like a retard trying to fly at the gym, you won't make it. srs

edit: cute neg, case in point. you're a soft pussy that can't handle feedback if it isn't pumping your tires. no sane businessman would partner with someone with these qualities. nice try anyways, hope the patent didn't run you too much

Ill try and be constructive.

- loading looks time consuming. It also hogs a curl rack. I can definitely see people doing their back going from curl rack to push up position or vice versa. Would be great if you can load it from push up position and attach somehow to front of your chest while youre on your tummy

Got an eye deer. What if you load the weight on the bottom of chain/device thats attached to a smith machine/rack. You get on your tummy, and get under it, and then you push the weight up by doing push ups. Perhaps some type of binding element to keep the weight on your back (rack pole, magnet, etc). You can basically crawl out after your set is done.

Ok, let’s break your post down.

“the pectoralis major is biomechanically more efficient and thus stronger when the shoulders are internally rotated.” You cannot maximally stimulate your pecs unless you flare your elbows out. Again, this is not a major problem with push-ups because your shoulders are not pinned against anything...

See here:https://www.t-nation.com/training/mu...-and-shoulders

I’m open to constructive criticism, but if I don’t believe that the criticism is superior to what I currently have, then I’m going to defend the product as it is and reject the criticism. A lot of it is people looking at this the wrong way, which is understandable because it does look pretty crazy but appearance should not be the main focus of this.. and to serious lifters, I’m certain it won’t be.

You telling me that the barbell looks “goofy as fuk” yet offering zero alternative viable solutions is not constructive criticism, it’s a useless attack that helps nothing.. it’s already been established that the vanity of this is not perfect, but vanity has no choice but to be sacrificed in order for this to work. It’s not like the HBB’s at the gym give a fuk what you do anyways, plus most guys will never even approach them. And enlighten me on a more practical and affordable way to do 160 lbs on weighted push-ups as of right now since you seem to know of one? Appearance has nothing to do with practicality

I’ll be fine, I was fully expecting there to be a fair share of pessimists like you attacking me

Sounds interesting but I’m having a hard time imagining this.. any way you could make an ms paint sketch of your idea?

As for the first part, it is time consuming yes, but so is all other methods of doing weighted push-ups to be fair

I was mocking you writing off dips and then putting your shoulders in a more vulnerable position while doing a push up first of all.

And cool article boyo? Did I say you're not hitting your chest effectively? Nope. Not once incel. Let me spell it out for you, I was laughing at you preaching shoulder health, only to perform push-ups in a less shoulder friendly manner than you could be doing them. There's a t-nation article out there for that too I'm sure, how to perform push-ups with respect to shoulder health and longevity. Since you were so keen on linking that I'm sure it shouldn't be hard for you to go find that one big guy.

As well, why would I give you my legitimate constructive criticism when majority if not all of your responses are of you justifying why this is basically as good as it gets and you can't improve this or that, and you did it this way because. Here's a suggestion I'll suggest again for you, since you need things spelled out: Go and actually listen to and acknowledge what so many posters have provided you for constructive criticism, stop rejecting and deflecting nearly everything.

I understand you're likely some spoiled twat living off daddy's paycheck, went to school, learned nothing useful, now you've got some P/T-F/T mediocre job and your parents are so proud because you're an aspiring entrepreneur. If you want to ever be taken seriously, don't think everyone's attacking you and grow up you little *******.

“Less friendly manner” ok? How much less friendly? Because it doesn’t affect your shoulder health to any meaningful degree on push-ups, as I’ve stated several times. What will be effected by your elbow positioning though is your pec recruitment.. so I’m backing up why I’m doing them as I did. Potato.

And strong argument that “there should be an article out there” lmao, wut.

You aren’t giving constructive criticism because you have none. Again, please enlighten me on a superior method of doing weighted push-ups with 160 lbs? I’ll wait.

Just lol at your last paragraph. That is about as dumb as the “hurr durr bet you have a small dink” arguments that were used in middle school. What is for sure though is that I’m more creative than you and have come up with a solution to an actual problem and am helping to further the fitness community - you haven’t done jack chit, and you never will because based off of your posts it’s obvious you’re a potato and do not have the brain capacity to think up anything innovative or clever. Peace out *******, this will be my last reply to you.

Obviously I hit a soft spot that's a little close to home with that last paragraph

oh and FYI:https://www.t-nation.com/training/pu...-real-strength

"Too many people want to think in absolutes. Either they want the elbows flared out to 90 degrees, or they tuck them in hard by the sides. Neither option is great for your shoulders."

ded, go ask your daddy for more money so you can design another incel contraption that's "helping to further the fitness company"

Bro, no one is going to buy it in it's awkward, barbell toting form. No gym owner is going to want goofballs back-pedalling around with barbells strapped onto them face high...

That reduces your market to home gym bros. Serious ones. Because 90% of even home gymmers only want the stuff they see the gyms have...

It's a god idea, but the barbell is a no go. Refine it.

Why can't you take the 4000% less awkward pin loading idea from that walking backpack... It would work & every gum go-er & owner is already familiar with chuck keys of safety pins like that...

Gym owners face a lot of problems to be fair though. Deadlifting is much more destructive on equipment than this will be. This doesn’t damage the equipment at all so why would a gym owner be opposed?

Yes it will be for niche lifters for sure, but let’s not underestimate how many lifters are in the niche though.. there are tons within that niche that would be interested in something like this.

Aware me on the pin loading idea that you’re referring to with the walking backpack tho? I don’t recall that being mentioned ITT. Would that still render the device independently loadable and unrackable/rerackable like the current one is?
