Basically different types of matter that is orbiting the black hole but has not yet fallen in and if i remember the glowing has something to do with the matter heating.

When you learn about how they work, it's mind blowing but then the conclusion is that everything balances, everything goes full circle. While many parts of the universe is expanding, other parts are contracting. Everything is changing all of the time.

20th century we worried about atomic energy wiping us all out. 21st century we worry about AI and robots taking over. 22nd century some dumbass is going to learn how to make a black hole and probably suck the whole planet into the size of a postage stamp.

Black holes were theorized in like the late 1700's I believe. Smart folks.




It's something stupid like 55 million light years away. It could have been gone 30 millions ago, and we still won't know it for another 25 mil.

Well for example, this picture of a black hole wasn't generated from visible light either, it was taken with radio telescopes, multiple across the globe working together as one giant telescope. The image is taken in radio waves that are picked up via the network of telescopes and the data is then gathered over time and put together on a computer that can produce an image. So the originals would technically be a bunch of ones and zeros generated from radio waves. I guess if you dont believe the science behind it, you can call the images "fake", but not believing in radio waves seems kind of strange.

It took an array of xray telescopes across the earth all looking at the same incredibly tiny point in the sky in addition to thousands of high IQ man hours, to translate what the telescopes detected into a representation we understand. We have amateur astrophysics misc detectives dubious however of the veracity of the image. Yes lads this is all part of the globe earth government conspiracy hoax to trick us plebs into believing in general relativity, satan is behind all of it.

One of the biggest accomplishments here is just turning theory into reality. Black holes are so ubiquitous in science fiction, we’ve lost sight of the fact they only existed as numbers on a whiteboard somewhere. As recently as 50 years ago, many in the scientific community weren’t convinced they existed at all

This is a big fukn deal boyos, what a time to be alive

Agree. Though telescopes have seen clues suggesting they exist for a while, gravitational lensing of light, and cosmic rays so powerful they could only be produced by matter moving at relativistic speeds. Now we have a direct picture of an accretion disc orbiting an event horizon, it's a big deal.
