honestly, the only way they can fix the plot and everything is if there are 4 or 5 movies, not 3. you know they can't explain all the chit in 7 and 8 and add all the stuff in 9 and expect it to stick like glue in 3 hours of a movie, if they'll even bother explaining some stuff. ffs did they even write the story for all 3 movies or did they just do it one by one?

It's...alright.

Nothing spectacularly bad or good about it, just decent, which ironically makes it one of the better Disney SW movies. Han actually has a goal and motivation plus they actually took the effort and made a short scene that at least somewhat explains how he became a skilled fighter, so he's already a far better protagonist than Rey ever will be. I'd say give it a try if you like SW.

There is some cringe, but imo it's manageable and they definitely turned down the sjw meter.

Lol it’s gonna be a pile of **** like the previous two. Watched force awakens at the theatre - was expecting to be mind blown but came out like Meh, just average. Then TLJ reviews were so bad I didn’t even bother till a year later - and when I got round to watching it, my god what a steaming pile of horse manure! That movie literally killed any excitement I had for the last movie. Seriously don’t understand how this bish has so many Jedi powers with no training

JJ and Johnson discussed some of the overarching plot elements, and JJ wrote the drafts for VIII and IX, but basically each of them was allowed to do what they wanted. Johnson apparently rewrote/dismissed most of JJ's draft, and we ended up with TLJ. Not implying that JJ's draft was any good, just saying that TLJ is all on Johnson. And KK.

To comment on the trailer.

Disney can really go suck a dik. They teased us with Luke in TFA for nothing, teased us with him before TLJ, then went on and fuked over his whole character and killed him in the cringiest way possible.

And now he's a narrator for "The Rise of Skywalker", which sounds like a title for a fanfic written by a 12 year old. Guess there will be some scene where Rey summons all the Force Ghosts to teach Kylo and the rest about the power of love and respect. The Palpatine - Joker laugh in the end is the icing on the cringe-cake.

Really looks like damage control turned up to eleven by shoving in as many OT references as possible.

On the plus side they apparently ditched Rose "if we kill them they win" and went with the Finn-Poe bromance. Or not.

He was the only one to master both light and dark sides.

That final shot is on Endor, where the 2nd death star blew up.

- Snoke's corpse gets possessed by Palpatine, because Sith Force Ghosts are now a thing
- Kylo will try to turn Rey to the Dark Side just like Vader did with Luke
- Rey resists, reaches out to Kylo, because she sees the good inside him
- Snokatine zaps Rey
- Kylo has a change of heart, throws down Snokatine down an elevator shaft, then dies, but before that he tells Anakin's Force Ghost that "he finished what he started" as a throwback to TFA
- Kylo becomes a Light Side Force Ghost, all the ghosts appear and praise Rey

Coming from someone who has read most of the EU books, played almost every Star Wars game ever, and listens to SW audiobooks daily, I just don't think I can possibly have any excitement for this. TLJ was the nail in the coffin for me. That's okay though, I just pretend that this new trilogy doesn't exist and stick with the EU.

The main issue is when the first 3 star wars came out, nothing like it had ever been seen before. From the storyline to the effects to the characters.

It was all new and exciting.

But now, in 2019, we have seen better effects and just as good a characters with WAY better story lines and production/editing/dialogue.

I mean lets face it, go back and watch the first 3 star wars. It was made for kids. The acting was for kids. From the dialogue to the characters. Ewoks? Really?

The problem is as I said above, we have seen all of these same effects now a million times. So they really needed to improve their story/acting/ and direction and if anything it has gotten worse. And now you have the identity politics/SJW push included in the movies...and that sucks.

Which is a shame.

Yea, I'd like to see a darker Star Wars, more emphasis on war and not fantasy and adventure. Sort of like the Clone Wars show but more gritty and gory like Band of Brothers. Of course this will never happen because its become more of a family movie and children watch it and buy the toys.

Rogue One was originally much like what you're describing.

They had to reshoot a ton of scenes because Disney was like "nope nope nope, too violent".

The special effects in Star Wars were actually subpar for the era. Kubrik made 2001: Odysee in space nearly a decade earlier. Battlestar Galactica had better effects during the same time despite being a TV show.

Space Opera weren't a new genre either...

Endor could have different climates and vegetation as well. It had in those cheap Ewok spin off movies.

The surrounding landscape could also be devastated by something that large crashing there. Realistically this would be as bad as that meteor that is supposed to have wiped out the dinosaurs.
