Its because most people are stupid and materialistic, so they borrow what the bank will give them and then some, barely living paycheck to paycheck. Mortgaged until they die essentially. So when one little thing happens to them they cant afford it and go bankrupt.

I pay my insurance yearly, all my friends pay monthly, they cant fathom that i save the money over the year so i canavoidinterest. One of my many strategies to really "make it"

You guys realize that literally every generation has whined and moaned about the generations following them, right? Those that came before boomers whined about how terrible they were, too. You're literally going on bitter old man rants about getting off their lawn when you complain about "millenials" (who you very often confuse Gen Z kids with these days).

Yeah, the millenial generation has their issues, just like every other generation. But it's pretty rich listening to people who came up in the 1960's when working at a grocery store or any basic factory job (which were plentiful at the time, as the U.S. was still booming during the post WW2 era) with a high school diploma could supply you with a stable middle class income, or Gen X'ers who came up during the 1990's when there were good jobs around every corner thanks to the .com bubble, whine about millenials and finances/economics. Those generations also weren't automatically set to get saddled with 20k+ in debt just by going to a basic in-state 4 year public college like millenials did thanks to liberal policies that politicians boomers voted in to way over inflate the college market by handing out loans, or even grants (yes, full ride grants were handed out to a lot of millenials/Gen Z kids with broke boomer/Gen X parents) to any idiot who could pass through high school with a C average. Meanwhile, the job market still isn't crap compared to what it was in the 90's, and probably never will be again.

But yeah, let's just pretend like millenials/Gen Z people weren't at any of those disadvantageous compared to the boomer/Gen X'ers who came before them and set the stage for how life would be like for millenials/Gen Z's. Let's pretend that there aren't plenty of boomers and Gen X'ers "buying the latest" materialistic stuff all the time like expensive new smartphones, and that it wasn't them who taught the current young generations to be materialistic. Some of you seriously need to get some perspective on life before you go on the whiny tirades about generational nonsense.

There will be naturally unless Governments continue to push immigration and dirty money. Canada, Australia and especially New Zealand have seen astronomical rises in property without any real reason to grow.

Sad to say I fit in this category. Went part time to finish school and after house payment there's not much left.

I kinda just put all my chips into the house (tenants in common) and school. Gonna be 3-4 years but I'll be ballin when I'm done. But fuk it's stressful being so low on cash.

Yeah I was actually prepped to buy when I was 20 (during the recession) but lost my job. It's hard to be broke in your late 20's but it's just investing in the future.

I could have gotten into sales but I really needed that certainty that a career would give me,. Maybe I can try doing stuff along the way on the side.

Even tho I was raised not to do this chit, I've caught myself overspending more than a few times. You're always tryin to keep up with your friends going on trips or eating out or to concerts.

It's so easy in this materialistic age to just go overboard. I've reigned it in hardcore since I went part-time.

You do realize millennials aren't teen agers anymore? They are late 20s and 30s. It's terrible for the future of the economy that a late portion of prime consumers are struggling financially. The economy will pay for it eventually.

At the same time, spending habits are completely out of control. If you don't make much money, you must decrease your living expenses. Many people cannot give up on their short term pleasure reward circuitry and resist the $5 sugar latte every morning. That chit adds and makes you broke over time if you're already living on tight margins.

I'm a millennial, doing very well for myself and financially strong. But do many of my friends live paycheck to paycheck, make bad dining choices, and fit oppees statistic.

Things come up, but being unable to separately plan for long-term savings and emergency savings is just poor discipline.

You subtract what youmustsave first, and then live within the remaining means. That is 80% of the predictor for whether or not you're going to make it.

Besides, "tax surprises" are not something that happens much unless you simply didn't plan ahead for the year. While there are serious problems with the tax changes for this year, people not hearing about them was not one of them. My employer's payroll company sent out three separate emails reminding people to check their withholding. It was literally in the news to check your withholding to avoid a "tax surprise". If you got fooked in the anoos because you neither withheld enough nor saved, that's ultimately on you living a potato life.

Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.
