smh at this thread. Raising a kid to be black is to make sure he knows that people will have preconceived notions on him based on his appearance and to make sure he keeps it in mind not to be foolish.

ex:
- dont walk in a store with a hoodie.
- having long hair or dreads because you have curly hair will be more detrimental than other people with man buns

Yall wouldnt understand but its a talk that has to happen.

I was raised knowing that I couldn't just be average and that I had to have a chip to try to be better in everything I did. Valuable stuff.

You obviously have no clue what you're talking about..... Hip hop was invented by black folks in the Bronx South BRONX I think.... Have you ever seen the living conditions that they had to live with? They truly "lived the struggle", and most of early hip hop explains that if you listen to the lyrics. Thats why me (as an Irish guy) have nothing but respect for the black folks because I was raised similar (there were white ghettos too in the 80's etc... Boston.. Dorchester etc...)
