There was truly nothing like it. The twists would be so perfect. Dany acting like an idiot for S3 then revealing last second she speaks Valyrian. It was like, of course she does she’s a Targaryen but the writing kept you from even thinking about it until then. The twists hit so hard but made such complete sense that it was so awesome.

For that reason I’m just gonna be so bummed if they wreck her (and others) characters in the final 3-4 hours after all these years. I hope I’m wrong
With hype, the knee jerk reaction is to be overjoyed. However, in time even the masses will turn on this season. I remember when the Phantom Menace hit, the first few geek style reviews (there weren’t many back then) were glowing: A+ reviews, famous, “Meesa loved it!” quotes from Harry Knowles, etc... the spectacle was big enough to cloud judgment but once it cooled off, it was considered garbage.

Same thing will happen here by the end if the quality and Shock-Value crash TV writing doesn’t improve.
Exactly. With Phantom Menace, people eventually came around with it being cheesy, bad writing that heavily leaned on contemporary special effects and a loyal fanbase as crutches. It was also a time when the movie's mediocrity existed essentially in a vacuum compared to our next-day, social media driven, nigh-instant reaction that spreads like wild fire. People are far more prone to open their eyes after the spectacle has worn off and the absence of logic reins in, which is further accelerated by recent Game of Thrones' daft writing.

Game of Thrones is vastly different in that it not only started off being driven by strong writing compared to Star Wars' pulpy origins, it has consistently excelled in every other facet, be it acting, production, design, score, you name it. The one glaring issue is the exceeding apathy by the showrunners that is put front and center, courtesy of their inexcusably inane writing that borders on downright malice in their disregard for everything previously mentioned that exudes genuine passion.

The decisions that D&D have made in regards to their approach have been retroactively detrimental to the series as a whole, never mind theongoingdisaster we're watching unfold. Equally frustrating is that this could have all been avoided had those narcissistic twats handed the show over to people who weren't obviously bored and disinterested in continuing the show.

Early Game of Thrones seasons excelled because the shock value was derived from logical consequences taking precedent to familiar safety nets typically cast over beloved characters. Now we have the very fabric of the fiction's reality tearing itself apart as it tries keeping up with whatever idiotic twists or plot contrivances the writers throw its way.
Did you see this clip posted on that thread of Peter? He sounds like the posters on freefolk.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=...&v=_3M0Xt97aFI

18:26 - it won’t imbed for some reason.

Cliffs Peter is on set talking about how they go into crypts and his character is now dumb.
His attitude about that scene alone is infectious and spot on.

The more that comes out from the cast, the clearer it becomes that they are just as frustrated with the vacuous bollocks they were given, or they are at least equally in the dark. For instance, the actor who played Branknows as much as we doabout his character's powers, let alone use.

Low and behold, that scene didn't even amount to anything and they had to explain that Tyrion and Sansa weren't giving each other suicide pact looks, but were going to make one last charge against the wights. I mean, it's a visual-fukking-medium, so that kind of ambiguity that leads to viewers not understanding what's going on has no valid excuse.
Same here. Most people just just have the wool pulled over their eyes by the scale of things. They see a big battle, lots of shots of the dragons, etc, and think the season is great. I’ve been getting a lot of Bert stares when people ask what I think of this season and I tell them the writing is hot garbage. Then I explain what’s so bad about it and I can see their expression change as I basically ruin it for them.

I feel like this guy

“LOOK HOW POOR THE WRITING IS! LOOK!”
Maybe this is what happens when much of society has mentally regressed to such a degree that they rely upon emojis to express how they feel when they have the entire alphabet on a keyboard right in front of them.

The dialogue alone has gone from biting, edge of your seat conversations that could keep the viewer in suspense without drawing a single sword or necessitating millions in CGI.
Apparently this is the writer:

Awfukbye
Aaannnnddddit's already boned.

Same thing as Netflix's Witcher adaption: Try explaining to a social justice warrior how medieval Europe, and therefore any fantasy settingbasedon medieval Europe, was unequivocally populated by almostexclusivelywhite people, and they'll flip their damn lids. If you try explaining to them how their possession with reducing everything down to skin color is, in fact, regressive and racist, their brains willexplode.

People being outraged because a [skin color] was killed rather than apersonspeaks volumes alone.

They'll probably go full Last Jedi and hire a host of uglies who they have dropping their clothes left and right, and 50% of the characters are gay "just 'cause" (despite homosexuality being such a point of contention that it led to Loras Tyrell's downfall).
I will stand firm, I refuse to kneel - The fury in me is divine
My dark grave awaits, my fate is revealed - But I'm not afraid to die

Jane Goldman co-wrote the screenplay for Kick-ass, and that was widely criticized for its use of violence and the word “kunts”

She also worked on X Men First Class and Days of Future Past, both of which were solid af movies. I wouldn’t say all hope is lost there

D&D borderline had no credentials to their names going into GOT

Literally everyones general attitude is that its a good season and is hyped. One even said that everyone he talked to thinks its so awesome. One said he didn't watch it yet but is gonna binge watch it and he said he's excited because how "everyone is saying this season is so good"

So just want to remind you guys that the reddit nerds and criticizers are in a minority echo chamber of hate.

Your opinions are valid, just its not the mass consensus. According to my sample size its generally liked by people and they dont focus on all those plot holes and inconsistencies that we do, and are just in it for the ride. Its still a good ride for most people.
Not a single person I've talked to has had a good thing to say about this.

You're probably polling the same kind of people that go to Superbowl parties and don't even know what teams are playing. Their opinions don't matter

Maybe, I wouldn’t count her out purely based on her appearance and the “type” it suggests

Will err on the side of optimism for now and see how things pan out. At least she has fukn writing credentials to back herself up

It's like country music stars. They churn out country music that gets more and more pop. Eventually it just becomes pop. And all the initial fans are turned off, but since pop has more appeal their fan base is bigger now.

Eg. Taylor swift. People were expecting a country album and got a pop music album.
