***SPOILER***
Tbh Bran becoming king was retarded though, why the **** would that cripple be a better king than Jon f*cking Snow. Also it felt a bit rushed, tbh. They put too much actions into Episode 3 & 6, and the others were too boring. Could've spread the action out more, and honestly Jamie's character development went down the f*cking toilet as well.
They're going to make some spinoffs though, so maybe there's still hope for them to redeem themselves. We'll just have to wait and see, though.

-Jon fighting the Night King in an epic showdown.
-A winner, a king/queen - whether it be Cersei, the NK, Dany, Jon.
Somehow they managed to take those two and do the opposite.

Nothing. All of her problems just conveniently make room for the next season.

the part where they ****ed up on is the part in the throne room. dany should have called drogon over and command her to burn the iron throne herself. because she always said she was going to "break the wheel"
There is only one Hell: the one we live in now.

As if the butchering of so many characters' arcs was not bad enough, the final "resolution" leaves a bad taste in my mouth because we are left with the antithesis of what George RR Martin was striving to do differently with ASOIAF. Let's look at the following quote of his in regards to Lord of the Rings, and then look at what we got from D&D:

What will supposedly make Bran a wise and good ruler? "Stories," and self-inserted masturbation by the showrunners aside, we are first left with two ways to take this absurd justification. First is the more direct quote from Tyrion, attributing the most interesting personal story toBran, of all goddamn people, a character who was absent for an entire season because he's stuck in a tree, and has - what? - maybe fifteen minutes of dialoguecombined?!?
No need to cover why Bran ranks in the bottom for interesting stories in GOT, second only to Rickon I suppose; that leaves the broader stretch of Bran being the collective memory of mankind. As such, Tyrion's thesis for nominating Bran really hasallthe stories, and alongside a degree of precognition, he is theoretically an invaluable resource for bringing Westeros into a new golden age. Except for one key problem: all the stories in the world are only as good as the person telling them, and Bran is a patentlysh*tstoryteller.
That leaves us with GRRM's questions posed to LOTR:
What of Bran the Broken Dick's tax policy?
- Erm, right. Hard to tax people when there are no "people" to speak of, and it's hard to attract new people when all conceivable infrastructure has been reduced to literal ash. So accruing initial funds to rebuild King's Landing might take a bit of finessing...
- Have no fear, as Tyrion has made good on repaying his debt to Bronn by appointing him as Master of Coin. Yes, the very same sellsword who doesn't understand how loans work is now Lord of Highgarden and the one handling the crown's finances.
- Why should any of the other Kingdom's contribute whatsoever to rebuilding the central power to the Realm when they could just as easily swoop in and claim it for themselves when it has no means to defend itself? The numerous factions of Westeros have overthrown rulers for far less and with far greater risks than a crippled king ruling a skeleton city.
- Assuming the Reach isn't really completely empty as Davos suggested to Grey Worm how are the people going to respond to having one of the most powerful Kindgoms suddenly ruled by an uneducated, lowborn, mercenary?
- Is the Iron Bank going to show up inquiring about their investment into the Crown and the whereabouts of the Golden Company?
- The fact that Bronn's primary interest is rebuilding whorehouses really sums up the future economy of the new center of the six Kingdoms quite well: it's totally fukked.
Does Bran the Broke-ass Beggar maintain a standing army?
- Given the current state of King's Landing, even the Night King couldn't resurrectash, so any military force would have to be outsourced.
- The aforementioned dire economic straits rules out mercenaries, and some of the best whom the Realm actually did pay for are now currently burnt particulates floating about.
- Conscripting soldiers through bread rations (by the way, where would they get the bread? Better make a bulk order to Hot Pie) would not exactlyboostmorale, and the state of King's Landing doesn't even make it worth re-sacking; everyone would probably just pack up and leave.
- Funny enough, Sansa sauntered off with the Northerners who would have been loyal to thelast goddamn male Stark(although his dick doesn't work, your word Sansa).
- Jon had enough of everyone's bullsh*t and headed to the true North with the Free Folk, so they're out.
- Say, now that the Wall is basically just a giant tourist attraction, why not reorganize the Night's Watch to be the King's Landing Watch for the time being? Besides, why would the Independent North allow the six Kingdoms to send their miscreants through their territory to sojourn at a vacant fortification?
- The Unsulliedreallyhad enough of everyone's bullsh*t, so much so that they sailed to their death via butterfly fever.
- The Dothraki... say, whataboutthe Dothraki? I suppose that they would be willing to kill for free, especially since they're kind of dummies whose grasp on economics is weaker than even Bronn's. Of course, they might eventually get bored milling about before they just start raiding and raping for funsies. Oh! And of course there is the slight dilemma of themallbeing Dany's bloodriders... so they might be holding a bit of a grudge.
But then again, they're not the sharpest tools in the shed, and they might have considered that "you're all my bloodriders!" declaration the equivalent to a participation award that doesn't reallystick. Crazy how so many things are left open ended for a season finale, huh?
- But does the King of the Realmneeda standing army? It at least seems like a time of peace, but let's be rational here: The seven kingdoms were already at each others' throats, and the privilege of ruling them has been given to a random cripple who despite his omniscience probably wouldn't even bother telling anyone that another army was invading, has no traditional claim, no ability to produce heirs, and not even loyalty from his last remaining kin; Sansa didn't even want to be part of any Kingdoms Bran was in charge of, Arya unwittingly sailed to Essos, and Jon was done being thrown under the collective bus to kill the woman he loved on their behalf.
What does Bran the Broken and soon-to-be-bleeding do during times of famine or flood?
- Oh! How about a flood of ash? Enough ash that it can cover an entire bloody dragon? How is Bran's ability to be the world's memory going to help peoplebreath?Did some kunt's asthmatic nephew invent a giant, fukk-off vacuum?
- Between the Loot Train attack in Season 7 and Season 8, alotof food has beenkind ofburnt into ash.
- Fun fact about food: The Reach is also the most fertile region, but apparently everyone despawned according to Davos after suggesting that the Unsullied start a House there.
What about all these [you name it]?
- Dany's gone, so what about the Dothraki? Did Dan broker a deal with them by reading their pasts and blackmailing them by revealing who has a secret knack for knitting or something?
- Drogon's gone, so how about that, Bran? Oh, you'll get right on that? You'll look for the likely pissed-the-hell-offdragonthat had just destroyed the largest city in Westeros in the span of a lunch break? Of course not, he's too many levels deep in the autism spectrum to understand why everyone is so rightfully concerned about an errant dragon flying around the world.
- What of all the people who were indirectly or directly wronged by our so-called protagonists? What of all the Frey women and children who grow up in broken families, only to all grow up to be Aryas who fukk off to Braavos and learn how to take revenge against the Starks when they're older and weaker? How about the people of Dorne, who surely are not happy about Tyrion Lannister being Hand of the King, the man whose trial by combat resulted in the death of Oberyn, which sparked a coup, and then the eventual capture and death of their new leaders?
How about the wheel? Is the wheel broken at least?
Hell no. The wheel is in some of its worst shape ever.
- The King's small council is run through nepotism and incompetence ripe for a medieval sitcom.
- The King is so deep in the autism spectrum that he literally reversed the autism of Robin "make the small man fly!" Arryn.
- The King, thewise and greatKing, can't even drum up a few nominees for Master of War and Master of Whispers.
- One of the Seven Kingdoms splintered off to be independent, paving the way for every other one to do the same with no strong central power to neither encourage loyalty nor warrant concern of repercussions.
- Cersei might have just kept to herself staring out her balcony while sipping wine all day, but King's Landing waskind ofa city back then. Bran does even less, somehow, and his kingdom now lacks ships, homes, walls, soldiers, or workable land.
- How is the "new" system different enough from the old one to constitute a change? Those present at the dragon pit scoffed at the idea of allowing commoners to vote, but what about Bronn, a lowborn mercenary who is now leading the most prestigious regions? Or Gendry, a blacksmith who happens to be the bastard of a former king, and who has a greater understanding of metallurgy than reading? Or Miscer Martell? Like, who the fukk is this guy? Yara let her own brother diddle her for a laugh, so she isn't one to talk about being highborn. And Sansa straight up left, so why her opinion matters is a real question.
- The last Three Eyed Raven lived a thousand years, and while Bran's dick don't work, he can still train a successor just as the old Three Eyed Raven did to him. Bran could have cemented a rule that could last an eternity if left unimpeded after having sat idly by with the knowledge that hundreds of thousands would perish over pointless high school drama thathe started.

-Jon fighting the Night King in an epic showdown.

Somehow they managed to take those two and do the opposite.

There's no way a human like Jon would be able to beat something like that in a sword fight, he wouldn't stand a chance unless he became Azor Ahai which is what should've happened

Do you think they would have clapped during the table read if instead they just played a clip from Star Wars?

Something or other about ballistae? The Iron Fleet will take care of her? Sir Gregor, Stop?
Dear god... I just realized that Lena Heady's longest dialogue must have been her post-coital discussion with discount Jack Sparrow. Fukkinghell, the talent they threw away.
Anyway, I couldn't find anything myself - because good luck given all the gossip surrounding the series + a thousand articles that come up - but on one hand, I can certainly believe that D&D would indeed be their usual, petty, *******y selves. These are the same swinewhores whose fragile, little egos couldn't handle that the actor playing Selmy Barristan was literate enough to understand why they shouldn't have killed him off prematurely (and especially not by the Meereen equivalent to golf club executives too lazy to fetch their own water bottles wearing Mardi Gras masks).
On the other hand, though, if that were the case, then they had a beef with damn neareveryoneother than Maisie Williams and maybe Sophie Turner because all dialogue was shot through the head with its brains splattered twenty feet away from anything relevant.
For reference, Mauler edited the finale to exclude all of the actual dialogue, leavingfifty seven minutesand forty nine seconds of meandering:
It must have been frustrating as hell to have the majority of the script read:
All: Do that thing with your face.
Tyrion: "Cock."
All: I don't know, figure it out for yourselves.
But seriously, the actors were all fantastic for what little they were given, basically performing acting alchemy by turning sh*t into gold. Even side characters like Grey Worm were portrayed with a level of passion and energy that carried a script that weighed several Golden Company elephants worth of sh*t.
It's downright palpable that they were invested in GOT and became a family in their own right, but D&D stopped giving a damn, while still being too proud to hand the showrunning position to a more capable team who would be willing to respect the source material enough to give it the necessary time to develop naturally rather than mash it out.
Illustrating this well is a quote from GRRM:
“I like grey characters, fantasy for too long has been focused on very stereotypical heroes and villains. And when I look around, I don’t see pure white shining heroes and absolutely black villains, I see a lot of flawed human beings who have it in them to be heroes or villains; it’s a matter of the choices that they make in crucial periods in their lives, in moments of stress and emotional turmoil.”
And here is what they boiled everything down to in the final season:
Spoiler!
D&D kind of forgot about how they don't start working for Disney untilafterGame of Thrones.
They could have crowdsourced a better script for free. When fans like Alt-Shift-X are putting so much effort and thought into every tiny detail, planning several steps ahead for what could have come, it makes the sorry excuse that is season 8 insulting.
There is also a worrisome trend with show writers followingtooclosely to third party sources like reddit and abandoning all sense of reason and progression in favor of "subverting expectations" simply because, low and behold, someonemight have guessed too close to what they were planning.
It's like the saying about a million monkeys with typewriters eventually composing Shakespeare, except it's at least thousands of dedicated, literate fans who genuinely give a sh*t about the subject. Just because a few people might have the right idea does not suddenly invalidate the final vision, andfarmore people are still going to be completely surprised regardless of how many people on an internet forum guessed the right-ish order of things.
Likewise, there is an equally problematic trend of shows catering to what "fans," i.e.Twitterlikes. Yeah? Well, Twitter really is like the millions of monkeys theorem, except the monkeys have ADHD and the typewriters are smartphones, so their spelling is somehowworse. Catering to Twitter is like trying to appeal to a bowl of marbles - it's bloody retarded and all you're going to get is something equally retarded. You could subvert the Twitterverse's expectations by dangling your keys in its collective face. Quality content cannot retain its integrity by lowering itself to appeal to the lowest common denominator, and in GOT's case, that's the demographic who think's Daenerys' real name is "Kelly C" and Jon Snow is named that because he's from a place that's snowy.

Holy chit, I was just thinking about how those videos went from mind-bending to completely useless now.
At least he still references the books but fuk man....
And here's why following through with a prophecy or tease is sometimes just the better option

Idk if that’s true about the writers having disagreements with Lena but I’ve also heard that idea about Jon and why his writing sucks do bad. Wouldn’t surprise me though after the stuff with Barristan Selmy’s actor.
