I call it "Celebration". It's sexual, and violent...

It's a hot night. The mind races. You think about your knife: the only friend who hasn't betrayed you, the only friend who won't be dead by sunup. Sleep tight mates, in your quilted chambray night shirts.

never seen a series come this close to perfection as Chernobyl - simply amazing
also, remember this thread and the picture of Soviet Mickey Mouse?
https://forum.obnoxiousbrutes.com/showt...hp?t=177191611
I chuckled when I saw him pop up in the last episode

Spoiler!
i really liked how they did the intro 2 years later so you knew Logasov was still alive and they didn't shoot him. I wasn't really familiar and didn't look up any of the details so I had no idea if he would tell the true testimony or not until he did.

Legasov is a hero in the truest sense of the word.... took immense courage to bring the truth to light.
Massive props to the dudes who waded through the water under the reactor... AND to that mining crew who dug the tunnels. Bravery beyond words.
I think the thing that amazed me most was that mother who not only survived the radiation poisoning after her baby died, but had ANOTHER kid (who by all accounts seemed to grow up ok). Amazing.
Crazy to think that we won’t get to see Chernobyl open again in our lifetimes... I do wonder what will eventually happen with it.

10/10. Really like the detail in his testimony as someone in the industry. They did a great job of actually explaining what happened.

Decent show I do wish it showed the horrors of the event a bit more though. I'm fascinated by radiation poisoning so I wish they explored that a bit more.
It was only recently I discovered that all nuclear power is is basically a steam generator. I always thought the power came from the nuclear reaction itself, not used to convert water to steam to turn a turbine.

Watching the series a second time. It's way bleaker now that I'm picking up more details, especially watching the general drive past those abandoned fire trucks in the second episode.

What’s as big as a house, burns 20 liters of fuel every hour, puts out a ****-load of smoke and noise, and cuts an apple into three pieces?
Spoiler!
A Soviet machine made to cut apples—into four pieces!

Just binged this in the last few days. Nuclear anything has been interesting to me since I was in high school and did a research paper on Hiroshima.
Another brutal part that hasn’t been mentioned on here, when they talk about the people on the bridge who were all watching...so many emotionally devastating scenes.
