My road bike is gathering dust in my closet...People always talk about how much motorist hate for cyclist to be on the roads but I was always stressed out about inconveniencing motorist. I literally hated having cars back up behind me...

Where i live most of the good old boys do this to bikes. I still don't think bicycles should be legal on streets where you have semi trucks and large vehicles traveling at high rates of speed. It's a recipe for disaster. Tons of bike trails/parks, etc to ride at.

My town has bike lanes everywhere yet the spandex twinks insist on riding two and three abreast with one/two in the traffic lanes. No Fucs given to those jerks

same here. there's literally hundreds of miles of paved trails they can ride on and even there they are big douches. they won't go on the left to pass and they get as close as possible to people running as they can.

Many people feel many ways, however if the law permits them to do so then they are free to do so. I am not a cyclist and these guys get on my nerves too when they make no attempt to get over and or they are riding literally on the white line acting like a casual ride is the Tour De France, but they are free to do it and I will not stand in the way of another person's freedom just because the recreational activity they enjoy is annoying to me personally.

If you're not a cyclist why are you making assumptions as to why a cyclist is doing something? This is like people complaining about motorcycles lane splitting to the front of a traffic light as if they're merely cutting in line when they've never been on a motorcycle. Being between the cars at the front prevents a motorcyclist from being a human sandwich between two cars.

They don't bother me that much, but they can be an annoyance at times.

Plenty of times I see bikers riding the white line of the shoulder when it's several feet deep, and they could easily ride closer to the curb without making drivers nervous.

Where I live, bikers are technically allowed to take up a whole lane if they want, but usually they're pretty good about it. What bugs me is every Saturday when everyone and their friends head out to ride together, and ride 2-3 people wide on the 2 lanes curvy roads I live around that have no shoulder, and make absolutely no effort to narrow their group so cars can pass safely. Gets frustrating when you get stuck behind a group of like 30-50 bikers doing this, and don't have anywhere safe to pass for several miles.

That being said, i've never wanted to run them off the road or do anything else chitty. I'll just let my engine rev high while I'm behind them and inhibit their attempts at conversation

That first part, I can understand a bit. I've been riding a bicycle for more than 40 years, and at this point in my life, I do have an expensive bike. Sometimes I feel guilty about it, but my first Ti road bike was my treat for surviving residency, my current Ti bike is because downgrading from the nice one, just because I wanted a gravel bike, would have been depressing.
I also wear road biking shorts and a bright tee shirt, usually yellow. Mtn biking shorts are less comfortable, so I tolerate the stupid look, and the bright colored look like a fairy tops can save your life given how many drivers are distracted.

On no shoulder, nope. As a rider, you should know better. Bicyclist have as much right to be there as the cars. They just need to do the best they can to stay right and allow the other road legal faster vehicles to pass them.

In Atlanta, bikers are a huge nuisance. In the approximately 1 year I've lived where I do, which is littered with neighborhoods and thus bikers, I've already almost been involved in 3 accidents with them. 2 out of the three times, they were riding on the wrong side of the road, into oncoming traffic, to get around a stopped bus. The third time they were going between riding on the sidewalk, which is illegal, and in the street as they pleased.


Yes, many bikers obey traffic laws. Many also do not and they are most dangerous because the fact that they aren't protected by a car makes people react more to their presence.

Also sidewalks are for pedestrians.

Cyclists show cycle on the roads, preferably in the middle of the road because most drivers (most people) are retards. They finally started to enforce the law that says if you overtake a bicycle or motorbike, you have to drive at least 5 feet away from it before you overtake it.

Also, bicycles are only allowed in roads with speed limit 50 mph or below.

Did you miss the part where I said the mere fact that it bothered me is not justification for harming them? I support them. I have ridden on the road you twat. Where did I complain about motorcycles? I am not a cyclist because I don't routinely do it. I typed multiple posts in this thread defending cyclists. I don't have to ride on the road to personally feel annoyed by someone else doing it, but I just said they are free to do it and I wouldn't bother them. But instead of saying **** to the people who are talking about hitting them or blasting them with fumes you comment on my post....wtf mate I'm with you.

Farming equipment is more understandable, its not a method of transportation. Gotta get the equipment to its destination somehow. Bikes on a 50 MPH are completely unnecessary.


Btw it is illegal to drive far below the speed limit. It's also your duty when using the road not to obstruct traffic. Going 20 MPH under the speed limit is doing exactly that.



So to recap, two horrible arguments as to why a bicyclist should be on a 50 MPH road.

Cyclists not following the rules is not good. That said, plenty of motorists don't follow all the rules all the time, yet I don't see a lot of hate for them.
