If he chose to have the baby, you would be forced, for the rest of your life, to take responsibility for it. If you wanted the baby and he chose to abort, you would have no power to stop him from taking that away from you. How does that make you feel, still not seeing the "wrong"?

In a sick twisted world where abortion is an option, here's how it should go down:
-both parents should have a say whether their kid lives or dies
-if either parent wants the kid to live, then the kid lives
-if one parent chooses life and one chooses death, the one who chose life is fully responsible for the kid. They get 100% custody, and they can choose if they want to give it up for adoption or not

In the appendectomy example it's just the man's body that is involved. In a pregnancy the man is legally tied to the choice of whether or not to abort AND there is a third life involved as well. Its not just about the women's life and should not just be her choice.
Have you thought about the the impact of society your scenario would bring? No, you haven't.

Side question, lets say you give up parental rights at 22. Now, you're 35 and your 13 year old son wants to know his dad. And as a father yourself to your own children you've matured and wants to know your illegitimate child, but you were able to skip out on all financial responsibility for the first 13 years of his childs life. What then.

Should have rubbered up then! Now he has to man up...or let another kid go fatherless and have a statistically high chance of turning into a degenerate.

If a man forcefully aborts the child without the mother's consent by doing a stomach punch, or the classic stair push, it's a murder. If the mother aborts the child, it's a medical procedure. Strong double standards

First of all, there are no real responsibilities, in the sense that someone must do something. If there's a guy that doesn't think he is responsible for the off-spring, and society and law says he is. Who's right? If you're high IQ you'll realise it's just matter of opinion.
People use that word to draw conclusions, they create a framework that suits their position, then say "This is way he IS responsible for the potential baby"... but all they've done is created a framework that supports that, without realising they've created that framework.

1) Provide sufficient means to prevent pregnancy. This exists in the form of condoms, birth control, morning after pill etc. You'd have to be a completely selfish idiot to still be able to impregnate/get pregnant in a developed country.
2)Charge both partiesfor abortions. No the state shouldn't pay for it. You two made the baby, you two are financially responsible for getting rid of it. I'm hoping this would discourage people from getting pregnant and having abortions.
3) Prevent incarcerated people from having babies. True story: my best friend did foster to adopt of a brother and sister. Both their parents were in jail. Yesterday, my friend found out that there are two more kids born within the last year by the same people. One of them still incarcerated. I don't really have a plan on how to address this other than sterilize repeat offenders.
4) Educate people to seek sterilization (vasectomy/tubes tied) if they don't ever plan on having kids. This would prevent "accidents" and unwanted babies in the foster care system.

I understand that a women has full reproductive rights, since she needs control over her body and there is no clearly defined point in utero at which a human fetus is considered a legal human. once that human becomes viable its life takes precedent and it needs support - hence the financial support.
however, suddenly, that fetus is now a viable human when another party chooses to destroy it.
its a legal argument based on the opinion of the women, not any facts.

Completely agree.
Not saying it's a good thing but as long as women are allowed to abort children that men want to have, men should be allowed to 'financially abort' children that women want to have.
I don't accept the herp derp argument of 'well he shouldn't have stuck his wee wee in her then'. Perhaps that's true but It takes 2 to tango. The secks was agreed to by both parties. How the pregnancy is handled should also be agreed on by both parties. And if an agreement can't be reached, both parties should have as close to the same options as possible. Just my opinion.

If we are talking about what is RIGHT then either both have reproductive rights or nobody does.
