Just lol at those who could not care less about a woman social status.

I know that degrees don't always translate into intellect but common, I could not see myself dating seriously or marrying a waitress, a cashier or a fastfood employee with not much prospect in life.

I love smart, outspoken, cultured and stylish women. You don't find them under a rock and you have to bring your A game to even consider getting their attention.

A 9/10 with no career will always get the physical vote but deep down I will always be tempted to think that she has not much to offer besides her look (wrongfully so).

I want a partner that I respect, admire and brings as much as I do on the table , I'm not looking to be a provider.

I think your overestimating your own desire for "career woman" especially if you ever want to have kids or already have them. If financially she had the option to not work and raise kids would you think less of her?

There are minimum intelligence and social status. But men set a much lower bar than women for that.

Intelligence is absolutely one of the most important things for me when I look for a partner. No question about it.

But my point is thatthe job itselfdoesn't make me more or less attracted to the woman. Whether she's a secretary or a nurse or a doctor, if I think she's attractiveand intelligent, her job makes no difference to me whatsoever.

One of the first things my ex said to a person she knew when introducing me was "this is severagee, he's gonna be a dentist!" The way she said it made it clear that status of the job was important to her. I don't think a lot of men feel the same, is what I'm saying.

Absolutely agree. If you as a man are carrying 95% of the burden you will not respect your partner and WILL gown to resent their lack of effort.

I think severagee emphasized my point better. My extra insight comes more into play when children get introduced.

You can't just be trying to get better. Eventually you gotta meet your goals and actually be better and then set some new goals. In early and mid 20s girls will stay with you based on potential. You can't keep a woman on potential. You gotta deliver eventually.

I'm not sure if you're adding to my response, but I never implied that you should keep potential around solely for potential... The potential has to be used.

Ambition and potential aren't always mutual things

Tbh I don't personally want children so they are a non-factor for me. The insight could be beneficial, but at the same time, it would be up to the person you asked to determine if he'd be down with that.

No expert at all on the subject but I don't really think intelligence is that important when it comes to a relationship.

I mean, I assume relationship are too some extent similar to friendship and it does not matter how smart your friends are. I mean what is important is that there is some common ground and value, that you appreciate spending time together discussing about whatever you both like, sharing activities you like.

Ofc, it will be hard to share things with someone that is dumb as stick if you hold 3 PhD but few people hold 3PhD and few people are dumb asf. Most of us are average so we don't need someone who is astonishing i guess. Also even if there is a disparity in intelligence (whatever this might mean) it can even be beneficial for someone who is a lot in "his head" to share is life with someone that is more grounded and pratical and less in the intellectual stuff, that makes a balance I guess and it evens out.

Also, intellectual activities are mainly done alone. Sure you can share things with other but for one hour of serious exchange on a topic there is like what 10-20 hours of reading/working alone on the subject. So well, exchanging simple things is better in relation imho.

So well that's my 2 cents but for what I see around me the relationship that seem to hold on in the long term are the one where there is an equilibrium and this equilibrium is not necessarely achieve when each member take the same qualities and in the same amount on the table.

I think we can mostly agree that people are chit and will use any superior qualities they have as an excuse to cheat on their partner regardless of whether that qualifies them as "contributing more" or being "more attractive." Nothing warrants cheating; it is always dishonest.

Fair comments man. I can respect individual preferences. And without kids in the picture a lot of things get simple quick.

Lack of effort leads to resentment. This can be on both sides. Generally speaking I'm just saying men and women value opposite sex based on different things.

What do you think most men would pick granted woman isn't selfish, and a bitch? Obviously you prefer a nice balance, but if you had to prioritize pick one.

1. Focus more on career and let herself go physically (fat , unkept ect.)

2. Focus on health and beauty and focus less on career?

I get what you're saying, but I can say without a shadow of a doubt that intelligence isveryimportant for me in terms of long term attraction.

I've got female friends that I physically find very attractive, and are fun to be around on a Friday night, but I just can't see myself in a LTR with them. Like, I'm sitting here trying to think of something they'veeversaid that really caused me to step back and think, and I'm coming up short. If I were to go on a 5 mile hike with them, I can't imagine what we would even talk about.

Part of the reason I had so much trouble getting over my most recent ex, despite only dating her for a little over 7 months, was her intelligence. When we'd go on hikes or to the river or something there was never really a quiet or awkward moment, I felt like I learned things from her on every trip. She didn't really make me laugh like my guy friends do, but she always had such an interesting perspective on things. She just loved to learn, and I found that super attractive.

A lot of college-aged girls I've known complained that dudes only wanted to date them for sex, but when they would open their mouths and talk, I started to wonder what else they could really contribute to a relationship. They didn't have major future aspirations, they didn't have any interests apart from Instagram/partying/netflix, they just weren'tinteresting. That's important in a LTR, and intelligence often coincides with being interesting (in my view).

As far as your question goes, I would say most people would go for the second one.

But the whole point of the discussion was that she should be able to do both... After all, I'm career maxing, physique maxing, hobby maxing, life maxing.

You can't come into my life thinking bare minimum flies, really

No problem with setting high standards man. If a man is on point with his financial goals, I think it's ok for a woman to not have the same financial success as myself. School teacher, Nurse, ect.. hopefully she takes pride in her work, but no top tier man is relying on a dual income to make it in this world.

I just answered that, a person's job doesn't necessarily determine those things.

This subject is pissing me off... I've had a number of experiences with people who talk down to me because of my appearance/job, and were shocked when I knew about topic.

One guys literally said to my face: "I didn't expect someone like you, to know that." And when I asked him what he meant, he said "A security guard."

Brah thought that because he had a degree, and had worked as a manager of a large store, he could literally try to tell me that a book meant the opposite of what it did. He assumed I hadn't read it.

Assuming a person's interests and morality based on their socio-economic status, really is one of the topics that gets to me. I can't stand classism, but it's very, very common.

Even on the misc.

This chit pissing right off, tbh... I need to step away from this thread, and go and do something else for an hour or 2.
That's exactly what I was saying earlier ITT. Your status = your value as seen by society ~= your looks + your income (in the 1st world).

And the thing about status is that if azzholes want to put someone down, they willalwayspunch down the ladder. Manager brah thought it was cool to chit on you because you were "just" a security guard. He wouldn't try that chit on a professor or a corporate VP or a millionaire startup founder. Ever notice how the first question men are always asked are "what do you do for a living?" Right from that first sentence, we're using other people's jobs to determine how we are going to treat them.

But you can put that 9/10 on the track and she can break bread with you. A 9/10 can probably charge like $500 an hour and if she's giving you half of that or most of that then it's worth it.

I agree with BetaAF stance on women. He seems to get it. However not sure why it's surprising that he gets treated certain ways for being a security guard. While I treat service workers with respect I would assume their not very educated. I used to be a security guard for a couple of years when I was 19 and 20 and in college.. At that age you ain't pulling women with money and career achievements. Security would hire the most unemoloyable lazy people with clean records. I was running that **** show in 6 months without trying at 19, plus it got me inside at a desk where I could study and do my homework. Perhaps people were surprised by my intelligence too in that position, but I by no means thought it as a prestigious job.

What if you traveled and found an HBB 9/10 Polish girl that just didn't have the opportunity to go to college because of family issues? A degree isn't a strong indicator of intelligence.

Personally, what's most important to me is the kind of mother she would be to my children.

Your role as a man is to be a provider, leader and protector. All girls want this no matter what they say.

You lead, buy her cute **** and take care of her. She gives you children and someone to share your life with.

You guys keep over complicating a very simple formula.

Career minded girls will just give you headaches. In the end a job is just that, a job. It's nothing to be celebrated or chased after. Anyone would prioritizes work over family is scum srs.

Yeah, it's really common in the UK and US (I'm not sure about other places).

When I went to South East Asia, one of the first questions was "How is your family?", it used to freak me out and I would get really suspicious of their intention, but I eventually realized that is their culture. Their society isn't perfect by any means, but family is extremely important to them.

In the west the only people who ask me how my loved ones are, are people I've known for a while... Otherwise like you said, the first question is about my job.

Women that have never worked hard to get where they are will never respect you. And while you are out working your ass off, she's ****ing the guy you are paying to clean your pool.

You are vastly OVER simplicating it.

It surprised me at the time when it happened (I was 19), but it doesn't surprise me now... I actually expect it.

(Before that I had a temp contract job, where I regularly interacted with managers who handled large insurance accounts, and they never spoke down to me.)

The point I was making isn't that I'm surprised that some people/women dating think like this, it's stating that I believe it's phucked up that some people/women dating believe that a job defines a person's value/interests, etc. Rather than simply having a conversation with someone, some people assume they can guess a person's values or interests based on their job... That's what pisses me off.
