that situation got way too close to being deadly for one of the officers.
Because the majority of police officer's are really hesitant to shoot/kill a person. You can tell by about 25 seconds into the video they didn't want any part of that situation. At 45 seconds they should have been planting their feet and taking the slack out the trigger. At 50 seconds in they should have put him down without moving from their original position.



Begging and pleading with someone that wants to die or wants to kill you in attempt to change the outcome elevates the risk to yourself drastically. The majority of time when a cop gets hurt/killed its because he was too soft and/or hesitated to act.


Furthermore if that guy would have turned and ran from them and just started stabbing some random person so they'd be forced to kill him. The death of that innocent person would be on them for being hesitant to do their job. The only reason the guy who got taken hostage wasn't killed was just dumb luck.



They are lucky it ended the way it did.

contrary to popular belief in 2019, most cops dont wanna kill someone, the first time he fired, the guy dropped the knife and the cop kicked it away. The cop holstered his weapon when he ran at him, to use less than lethal means because he didnt wanna kill the guy which was apparent

also the guy got pelted with 9mm and was still able to come at them, u really think a taser is gonna do anything?





but in all honestly they should use their cruisers for knife scenarios

Weird how real life is not like the movies, huh?

A buddy of mine just killed this piece of sh!t that fired on them first. He shot the guy 12 times, 3 in the chest cavity and the guy was still comin'. It's annoying on the public doesn't get it.

That was pretty hard to watch man. I thought the cop was a goner.

I hate it for those cops, and I do wish they would have handled it sooner. It was pretty clear that cop was sincerely trying for the best outcome. No one would have blamed him for killing him earlier, and I kind of wish he did. I am glad this only got as bad as it did though.

Already been posted quite a few times, but the guy dropped the knife after the first shots. At that point you're killing an unarmed person. That's why he kept saying "taze" him to his partner, and why he holstered his gun after the initial shots. It wasn't a mistake or a stupid decision to switch to non-lethal after disarming.

A police taser has a max range of about ~30 feet... if you are putting yourself that close to taser someone you are also putting yourself in range to be stabbed.

There is what's called a "drug and armor" drill, which is rounds to the pelvis and head. Not trained on a lot by normal cops because most of the time cops are terrible shots, so the limited time for firearms training is spent on basic fundamentals. I personally think I spent about 90 seconds (literally) doing this at the academy, and never heard that phrase again until SWAT training, where you can practice these things instead of the basics. Realistically, in 99% of police shootings, going for center mass is going to be the right call. You can't have people that are questionable shots trying to shoot like John Wick or whatever, it's just going to lead to more stray rounds. Also hitting a moving target with stress is hard as fuk, I'm a pretty good shot and I'd probably just go for center mass in the same situation, still has the highest probability of success IMO, the drug and armor drill is just another technique.
