Typical person is full of ****, when you go on a fast your body starts getting rid of it. It can take months. Not just talking about the intestinal track, this is body wide. Lynth system, muscle tissue, fat etc

Gives a new understanding of the insult "full of ****"

Best way to intermittent fast is to not eat untill 4pm onwards, during the day drink water and home made vegie juice and/or fruit

Above all, well done on doing what very few people can do or believe in

Can you go into any further detail about the body feeling like it is 'healing itself'?

Also, how were you sleeping before the vast (on average)? What has your sleep been like the past 3-4 days?
Hard to describe, which is a big reason why I did this. You go from feeling borderline ill the first few days and positive things just start happening. Brain fog lifts, normal hamstring inflammation that I get every single day lessened, stomach pain went away, my senses felt heightened, positive hormonal response.. unique experience. I went the extra couple days just because I didn't want to stop, even though I thought about food a lot still. I think we're just starting to figure out what's really going on. Maybe an element of placebo?

My sleep went from 7-8 hours consistently to more like 5-6 the last few days. Had some difficulty falling asleep at a reasonable hour for some reason. Not sure if anyone has a good explanation for this.

Sorry no before and after pics. I will do a better job on my 21 day fast, including scans to assess lean body mass before and after. Truth be told, I see this more as a healing/cleansing/mental health exercise than a cutting technique.

Do you notice any changes in the way your body looks? I lasted for three days and caved in.

I wouldn't say it looks drastically different than other cutting methods, other than skin gains. I am confident I was in super deep ketosis, though. I understand caving on day 3! I still felt like ass on day 4, and then it's as if my body hit a switch and I went to full fat burning mode and hunger hormone spikes tapered off drastically.

Did 7 days once, it was an interesting blend of painful euphoria.

This thread is making me want to jump back into this.

We've had no warm showers, no pillow case, no shampoo and now no food. Excited to see what the misc will come up with next.

Long story short, I'm super stoked with how it went and am already planning on a 21 day fast in the future. Today I'm starting with a little greek yogurt and kampachoochoo tea and will build from there. Plan is to eat minimally for a few days at least.

Negatives:
- Days 1-4 sucked when my body freaked out, especially since I did zero prep or really even researched it much beforehand
- Bad stomach pain and headaches early on, flu-like symptoms on day 4
- Never realized how much of my social life revolves around eating and drinking, brb staying in every night alone for the most part
- Not a crazy amount of weight loss, went from 220 to almost 200 on the dot, but I'm sure some was water
- Sleep pattern is disturbed, though mine was less severe than some
- You will lose a tiny amount of lean body mass, but I think this is largely overblown
- Energy level down, less so once you break through the wall, but still down overall
- Best way to extended fast is to rest as much as possible, obviously hard to do for most of us
- When you tell people you haven't eaten for x days, they flip out and call you stupid

Positives:
- I am open to the possibility that this may be placebo and the mental stuff is hard to describe (hence why I did it in the first place), but I feel like I can literally feel my body healing itself
- Less pain and inflammation (I am a chronic pain patient)
- Skin looking tighter (two people commented who didn't know I was fasting), though didn't notice a visual change in scar tissue
- Normal "brain fog" I get in the afternoon is gone
- Broke caffeine and food dependence, that hunger hormone spike you get at every normal meal time is gone
- Normally wake up with mucous in my eyes and a box of tissues close by, but nothing the past 4 days
- My vision seems slightly clearer?? I especially noticed this when playing tennis.
- Daily stomach pain went away, interested to see if that lasts
- Natural high, almost euphoric feeling.
- Completely "reset" taste buds, I crave simple clean foods more than greasy stuff right now
- Last half of fast was in super deep ketosis, body is a pure fat burning machine at this point. Feels good, mang.
- Practically FREE. Just drink water. Nothing to buy.
- Confidence boost, breaking through a big mental barrier. I'm much more optimistic about reaching my goals now. A great base to build on if you're stuck in a rut like I was.

Questions:
- I've had multiple small bowel movements the past few days, wtf is that?
- After day 10, what are the benefits? People say you don't get the full benefit until after day 10, but what exactly happens?
- What's the best way to intermittent fast now? One meal a day? Fast every other day? Fast 1-2 days/week?
Have you ever done keto / psmf ? I havent fasted more than 48 hours but have done psmf and a lot of the benefits seem similar (no brain fog, no hunger ect)

Were you able to do any kind of exercise? I found I could do low pace steady state cardio and low pace weight lifting on keto but any kind of HITT workout would really kick my ass and I couldnt perform very well due to the lack of energy/glocogen.

Less sleep is a super common ketosis side effect. Some people do whatโ€™s called a carb crash and eat a slice of bread prior to sleeping.

Despite the lack of sleep and general feeling of tiredness I also notice my brain is much sharper and it doesnโ€™t affect performance too much.

I didnt eat all Monday but caved yesterday. I only ate soup, cheese and chicken though, so I should be able to atleast get into keto soon, but straight up fasting is hard as hell when that hunger hits day 2.

I've dabbled a bit with psmf, never for extended periods of time though.

Same story with exercise. I did mostly low paced cardio for 45-60 minutes. I played tennis a few times and really felt it.

congrats op proud of you. this thread really inspired me to try it myself maybe just like 3 days tho. is there anything proven that it takes time to "heal" your body or is it all broscience? I don't have any issues with my body tho so I'm not even sure what it would change

I don't think it's bro science, but fasting induced auto****y is still a fairly new area of study. There's a lot going on. The mental changes are probably what you'll feel most.

Nothing noticeable. I think you lose a tiny bit at first and the no more once you are in ketosis as long as you have some reasonable amount of bodyfat. It doesn't make any sense for the body to start pillaging muscle when you have fat available to use for energy.

nice. wud like to see how lasting these positive changes are if you only re-entered wholesome, fresh food into your diet. no caffeine, alcohol, greasy fast food, junk food, HFCS, etc.

used to do 18-6 IF. only benefit i noticed was my stomach felt a lot better during the day when i wasn't repeatedly putting it to work. and i was able to wean myself off caffeine to a large extent.

the only time in my life i was able to get rid of "brain fog" was when i went on a 5 month no-fap (no internet, social media, movies for most of that time too). around 3 months in, my mind became a lot more clear. diet was crap.
