OPs going to be dead in 20 years working 80 hours a week lol. Smart chick would realize this and try to cash in on his life insurance.

Well, I wouldn't be with a person that work 80 hours aswell lmao, so I understand her in that sense.
What about hanging out on weekends and after work, watching a movie and stuff. Like all that stuff is what makes you close and feel closer to another person. If you are always out, of course she will feel lonely in a relationship and will find someone that has more time for her. Girls like attention and they want it. If you don't provide it, they will find someone else that will, simple as that.
Can't imagine working more than 40 hours a week, but I guess to each their own. As long as I am not struggling with money, I am fine with 40 hours a week and my free time.

She had brought up these concerns a while ago but she knew coming in what my lifestyle was like and she told me we would get through it together.
After getting off after 10pm I would go to her house 30 minutes away and sleep over, only to come back in the morning at 5 am to get ready. Sometimes she would drive me home and just crash at my place for the day.
I definitely made the effort and she did as well. Just got to be too difficult, that’s fine. It’s life
We would spend a lot of tome together on the weekends though, I thought that was enough but maybe not. All good though, learning experience for sure. Every decision has consequences, and my career choice is no different. This is the path I chose and I have to accept the consequences that come with it

Sounds like bullchit to me that she ended things over that. She should know people got chit to do.
Sorry to tell you she most likely monkey branched.
Her loss.

Out of curiosity with this 80 week work schedule, what's your average week look like including workouts and social time and what is the end game to this?
How many years before your hours per week reduces or you make so much bank you can retire early?

The right one will come along..Well, girl I’ve been seeing for a while ended things today. She said she could no longer handle my 80 hour a week work hours and the fact that I work a lot of weekends.
It’s difficult for us to see each other during the week because of my hours and the fact that she lives like 30 minutes outside downtown, where I work and live.
I told her that my feelings for her were bigger than those inconveniences and we could get through it, she said it hurt her heart too much that it was so hard for us to see each other and it was really weighing on her. And, she wasn’t ready to love anyone or be loved by anyone as she has been through a lot in previous relationships. Sucks that she basically said I wasn’t worth it, that she didn’t want to get through the inconvenience of our schedule with me but it is what it is.
Hurts pretty bad, especially because she was the first girl I really let into my heart in a long time as I have always been really afraid of getting hurt like this so I generally have always kept things casual with women and tried having a rotation. She was different and I thought we could really have something great.
Unfortunately, didn’t work out that way. Gonna go back to guarding my heart and just seeing multiple women as I can’t really handle this kind of hurt in my life on a regular basis, already stressed enough as is.
She said she still cares about me deeply and wants me in her life but I can’t do that. Would hurt me too much.
****ty situation, but that’s life. Time to move on and go back to the bachelor lifestyle. Onwards and upwards fellas. Take everything as a learning experience and use it to be better and stronger than you were the day before

Sorry OP, sounds like you are driven and successfully and will have no problem finding a solid girl when the time is right.
That being said I can't really blame her for leaving the relationship. I would never be able to date someone who works 80 hrs/wk with many weekends too. Just logistically that leaves little time for things like dating and especially moving forward and starting a family. If you get to the point where you want to settle down you may need to re-evaluate your priorities when it comes to work/social life balance.

I workout every day after work for about an hour and 15 minutes. Then go home sleep.
Fridays usually off by 7pm, Saturdays and sundays as needed. Sometimes I don’t work weekends, other times I do. Probably 8 hours between the two days on average.
I understand how tough my lifestyle is currently and can’t expect someone to stick by me through it. You just think you find someone who cares for you enough to battle through it with you but, all good. No hard feelings.
End game? Not sure. Takes a toll mentally but it’s essentially the most lucrative finance career you can get and I make very good money. Stick with it, hours will get better and you can definitely set yourself up for your future in a way most people can’t.
Like all things, it’s a trade off. Sacrifice. Is it worth it? I don’t know

So no, stop thinking this way. You think you are testing their loyalty when you are really just pushing them away.

You just cant have both OP. Working 80 a week and having a relationship is impossible.
You wont spend enoughqualitytime with that person.
Right out of college, I had an opportunity to get a job working 60-70 hrs a week and make good money.
I refused it.
Time is too precious for me.
I work 40 a week, and my fiance always says she doesn't wants me working more, because it will disrupt our time spent together. I doubt you will find a girl who will disagree.

I’ve learnt from this and will not make the same mistake again. It’s hard to even describe how hard I have worked to get to where I am today and others won’t understand. Right now my career comes first and that means I can’t have a relationship, that is fine.
Everything from now on will be casual and I will not let myself get attached to anyone and vice versa. I will be up front about where my priorities are and where I am in my life journey, if that works for them then ok. If not, all good

My dad has a saying.
"If you want to be successful you let everything go, and hope one day it comes back to you.".
You can't have it both ways brah, unless both people are feet to the fire hustling day in and day out. If one party is just sitting around for the other to get off work, it's never going to work. That person will come to the conclusion that work is the most important thing, and move on.

everyone hating on OP or giving "advice" he shouldn't work 80h a week. you guys sound like envious bitches and wanna drag him down on your poverty lifestyle. OP is an investment banker, do you really think he's stupid and doesn't know it's not healthy?
to truly make it through career that's usually the way sadly. OP could most likely retire by 30 while you're gonna slave until you're 70
mirin op you're gonna make it

Hey man - sorry to hear about the breakup. Honestly, it sounds like your lifestyle is more conducive to being single anyway.
That amount of hours would be too much for me but major props on your dedication.
Hope you bounce back and enjoy the summer brah.

So no, stop thinking this way. You think you are testing their loyalty when you are really just pushing them away.

Everyone has to understand when it comes to relationships, you are replaceable and so is your partner.
Of course you make commitments to do your best to collaboratively work through things once you involve marriage/children/mortgages/etc but the "high" of love/lust is a dime a dozen.
Even if you're financially set, aesthetic AF, emotionally stable and trustworthy, have a great social circle and share unique interests with your partner, if you live in a city of 1M+ there's still probably thousands of other people who would be great matches for your current partner so yeah working an 80 hour work week is an understandable deal breaker.

"You work too much"
"Let's break up but still be in my life"
Oh lawd. Sorry to hear but seriously, you need to make a clean break. Women will do this to still try hit you up for favors/shoulder to cry on. It's more of a security measure. Unless you had kids together, don't let them get the best of both worlds.

Just curious as to what's your end game OP? I worked 80 weeks for half a year, and said phuck it. I didn't see the point, and I didn't like my career trajectory, especially because the hours would get worse.

not sure if youre trolling with this story or not.... but ill drop my 2 cents for you ... so listen
1) understand that no 7/10+ sloot will ever love you for you ... they will love you for how much bank you make
2) understand that none of these sloots will want to settle if she's < 40+ of age... those new age sloots all want " to live their lives"
3)Think with you brain , not with your heart.... that girl will date new guys yesterday if not last month ... meaning she already wrapping herself around someone else
4)be prepared to get contacted again by her.... dont be stupid or impuslive .. be ready for that moment when it comes
now , the good thing that comes out of a ltr breakup
1) if you know how to work yourself and assimilate this situation... youll become so strong emotionally/psychologically ... that no other r.s will put you down
2)youll be able to see women for who they really are
3) with time all that butterflies feeling in the stomach will go away and you wont feel a thing anymore
and any sloot/****** in this thread that tells you what i said is wrong is a 3/10 failure in life interms of success
focus on yourself,family,workout,work.... make money and lots of it

She didn't care about you that much in the first place otherwise your ex would've tried her best to make it work out.
