Also, upper management WILL take advantage of your ignorance. And they will rip you off badly. Its happened to me. And this is for simple stuff like nails. But the same principle applies everywhere. Its why being curious is very important.
Not sure how much crossover there is with fingernails and IT but I'll allow it.

Most of my coworkers are 30-40+ with 10-20 years xp, so it's a very different makeup from many bay area teams, Dell has an office next to us and my biggest worry is becoming an out of touch oldcel like the older dudes in khakis and polos I see coming out of Dell looking utterly defeated. I'm already at the extreme end of the spectrum with 20 years experience, although thankfully my resume is still great.

Certs matter if you're doing networking. Certs don't mean much for developers

Bros would be smart to get into Cyber Security. Industry growing rapidly. Here at my county they have a position open for $203k/yr. (That's more than our county executive) and they can't find anyone because the last guy left the job for a better offer. Lol.

Lawyer, though if you go into law to make a lot of money youโ€™re doing it wrong - lots of easier ways to make a lot more

In Michigan? Post the link to the job posting then.

You're not making 200k doing IT anything in Michigan outside of being the CTO or VP of Ford
