You have to understand where OP is coming from. He is in Atlanta and thinks that one of the most transient metro areas in the US could represent southern culture. Not trying to knock ATL brahs but Atlanta has more in common with Washington DC than it does somewhere like Albany, GA or Bibb county AL.

Lived it Buford at first now north of Atlanta Just OTP, but my parents are both New Yorkers and I went to a Jewish school up until high school.

I can speak southern very well but only do so as a joke because it sounds so cringy.

I remember hearing someone say "If Einstein tried to teach you about relativity in a southern accent would you take him seriously?" I dont know why but that stuck with me. Its the same case for ebonics or a Boston accent, you just sound stupid.

I heard that same line coming up through school and bought into it for while. I can fake a neutral midwest accent really well but why keep that up? So I can impress someone who would think less of me if they found out where I was raised? The only time I would ever consider doing that is in a job interview with someone who was in a different part of the country. Luckily I've managed to find one of the last employers left in the world that actually values loyalty and promotes from within so hopefully I won't ever have to worry about that again

Another Georgia bro checking in and I've traveled around to most of the states in the US and the South is by far the friendliest. Major cities like Atlanta don't really count though since their are so many people living there from different parts of the world.

They consider the eastern provinces cucks but they're the ones getting cucked by Saudi Arabia. Eastern provinces have managed to not put themselves in a hole solely dependant on gas.
