That's why you can't compare tyrannical and conquering behavior to what is happening now. And mass shooters are similar to serial killers, I agree, but they differ in a very distinct sense. One wants to cause carnage on others for as long as possible, the other wants to die.

Serious question then boys how come these mass shootings appear to becoming more popular? Merica has had their guns for over 100 years what is this sudden surge? Obviously guns are an issue but what else would you guys say is causing this violence to increase? Clearly something is going wrong somewhere? I really don't think it's rocket science. Besides easy availability of guns, I think it sort of become a trend for outcasts/loners/incels/deviants to lash out in this manner. There were mass shootings before but Columbine really nailed this chit in the collective conscience and become sort of a model for the deranged. They know the media will publish their names and pics if they just go shoot up a spot. Maybe they feel they don't have much to live for, and achieving infamy in this manner is better than anonymity. And it runs the gamut and can't be pigeonholed too easily. Maybe some kid is getting bullied at school and so he shoots it up. Or some dude just got fired and shoots up his workplace. Especially in this age with instant communication/news/updates they know their mug will be plastered all over TV/internet. Not too mention pressure from social media, embarrassing chit getting posted to fb, jealousy/envy etc can really drive some of these dudes off the wall. Lack of parenting/strong adult supervision doesn't help either.

Seriously though, why can't we send drones in after these mass shooter freaks to knock them out with a dart so they're taken alive, then force them into hard labor work camps for life? Am I the only one who thinks that type of punishment would detere some of these deranged idiots? It might not always work, but I would say it has to be worth a try. Maybe these nut jobs would think twice about their actions before going through with this crap if they knew there was a good chance we'd go full North Korea on them as punishment.

I think that is what is missing moreso nowadays. And parents/society have just gotten fukkin soft and won't discipline their kids when they need it. Fringe behavior is tolerated/encouraged now and that tangentially can lead to this sort of thing.

Gun laws have been more or less the same since the 70s. They're not the variable that's changed.

We'll see what the deal was this time, but I think the biggest common factor behind it is the Internet. How many incels and race warriors have we seen become radicalized just sitting in their rooms.
