The latest NHC update has some grave language

Nope

Check out the Jarrell Texas Tornado of 1997 or Andover Tornado of 1991

There are plenty of others too that literally did inconceivable damage and swept towns off of the map (literally nothing left in some places because it was moved thousands of feet away)

I've been through 4 hurricanes and there was zero structure damage. Just some chairs blown over and leaves in the road.

I don't think a tornado would do that

The most dangerous part of hurricanes is the storm surge if you live on the water

hurricanes impact whole states/geographic regions, are hundreds of miles wide and cause billions of dollars of damage. ****ing up some small towns isn't even in the same ballpark

That doesn't mean they are stronger. F5 tornadoes are the most violent and dangerous storms on earth.

ef5 tornadoes a mile wide at 300mph will surely **** up whatever is in it's path, but there is no risk outside of it's path that ends in an hour. no tornado will ever have the capacity to cause as much damage as a hurricane. we have different understandings of what the strength of a storm means i think

You can stand in the path of the most dangerous hurricane and come out unscathed. Not so much taking a direct hit from a tornado. Of course tornadoes are much smaller and short lived but they will rip you apart and throw you miles away. A hurricane is just a strong steady breeze. The only real danger is getting hit with flying debris.

That's just because they are larger and are associated with tons of water. An f5 tornado is still stronger and more violent. Look up the Jarrell Texas tornado. It was literally the most intense storm in history

of course acutely they are more powerful with higher winds, but this thing developed over a week and with 185mph sustained winds 30 miles out from the eye. it's a ****ing powerhouse and unimaginably strong overall
