We are like bullchit you didn't even go over there for 2 days. Thanks for giving my wife anxiety while we are on vacation bish.Wife is currently gone NC on her parents and we are happier for it.

That's heartbreaking Busta, i'm really sorry for that. My mom passed away two years ago, but I know she'd trade anything possible to have had more time with my daughter. She loved her beyond words. I can't imagine your internal conflict on this one, but it does not seem like they are bringing any happiness to your life. NC may be in the cards.

My wife sought love and approval from them her entire life as they were too self centered to give her real love and approval. She finally realized her happiness should be in loving and approving of herself and to take her own success and be happy with me and her other loved ones, and fuk her parents. Once you are a grown ass adult, horrible parents or siblings don't get automatic, unconditional love anymore.
btw, her parents are worth 4-5 million and we may be throwing that away, but fuk them, its principles. Dead serious.

Reminds me of my father in law. Got his permission to pop the question and all.
First time my wife went over there without me (fathers day I believe, weeks before the wedding) he hits her with every low blow possible. Idk why you invited my friends, its too far and they wont have fun, taking bets on how long until the divorce, I dont even wanna walk you down the isle/do the father daughter dance.
I had my family ready to escort his ass off the property at ghe first sign of trouble.
Truly pissed me off. Her mom is awesome too, and dad acrs cool whenever I'm around but if not he takes his bs out on everyone.

Not been anywhere for years together without the kids, barely a night out since my mother is a moaning piece of $hit and whines when asked to babysit my two boys just for one f@cking evening.
Nevertheless, she agreed to it in principle, and so we booked the flights.
Next thing I know is she says "3 days is too long".
Bear in mind my kids are big time into gaming and would cause no fuss at my parents house, because they have superfast broadband. My parent's would practically not notice they were there. All they need to do is feed them (school holidays).
My parents are oldcels, early 70's, plenty of space in their Victorian home and it's not like my kids need night feeds or nappy changes.
I don't get it - most grandparents would be happy to have their grandkids for a few days? God knows they left me with their mother almost every weekend whilst they went out.
Faced with the choice of cancelling the flight and getting an earlier one home (would cost £30), I have decided that the kids can come along with us and my parents can go smoke a bowl of baby dicks.
Probably gonna add £1k to the cost too.
Next time they want me to go around and move something heavy from the attic - I will be telling them to go suck a fat cock.
The miserable pair of twats.

Once you start taking responsibility for who you are, you have to cull the negative influence in your life, and that means turning away from terrible parents. Ironically that becomes what is best. Unfortunately these types of parents have a way of blaming their kids for doing so...Its never the parents fault for anything.

My mom hasn't hugged me in months. I used to initiate every single time, and she was receptive, but then I thought I'd test a little theory of mine and stop hugging her. What happened? The hugs stopped, and she has grown to resent me for it. So I asked her why, and she says because I was "disrespectful towards her" at a BBQ I had. What was the disrespectful moment you ask? I told her to stop walking around my house eating a burger without so much as a napkin. So here my mother is walking around my house eating a burger, dropping toppings and chit all over my floors, and I should have been cool with it because she's my mother. Parents are not supposed to make their children feel guilty over chit...Especially chit they would never tolerate themselves.

Jesus some of you in this thread have horrific parents and makes me realize how lucky I am that at least I've got one really good one. My dad isn't bad he just didn't get any affection from his parents so he has no idea how to do it. I know he loves me by his actions but he just doesn't have it in him to speak the words

"she agreed to it in principle"
What do you mean by "in principle"?
Def. a sht move if she agreed to do it and you guys planned depending on that, that's harsh.
I don't ask anything of my parents, although they would be more than willing if asked for anything. I put them through sht growing up and they stuck by me all the way so once I became an adult I recognized they had done their job (and then some) and they were done.
In general I don't depend on others so I don't have to deal with them not coming through. I take care of my own business so I know its taken care of.
I totally get that everyone's got diff. situations and extenuating factors and such though.
Hopefully you can accept that that's who and how she is and move on without completely severing ties, as once its too late you can't go back.
Bright side, sweet deal for your kids, hope you can make the best of it bruh.

Sound like boomer scum. Just sitting back wasting the resources of a dozen people in their selfish delusion.
I wish we had coal mines these fuks were enlisted to work in at 60 until death to take back all they stole and teach some humility.

No excuses for my parents due to their past but at least you once had a close bond.

But I tell my kids I love them all the time, am tactile with them, spend time with them, drag them to the park every weekend etc. I'm not saying I'm the best Dad in the world by all means.
Even my parents parents showed more love than my parents. Only person that used to take me to the park was my gramps.
Perhaps there is some truth in this 'boomers' chit..

So today I text her "we've decided on 3 days, gonna book the flights shortly".
I know she read the message at 08:00 (whatsapp), and hear nothing back, so book the flight at about 09:00. At about 09:05 she responds with "3 days is too much".
U fuk'n w0t?
So now a cancellation and looks like - if we do go - the kids are coming, so will probably only be 2 days, and of course I'm gonna have to tone down the theme of the trip somewhat.
So, next time that old bag sends me a text like "can you come and move some furniture for us?" I will respond "too heavy, sorry".
Fuk the pair of them.

There is a principal here, about their mean-spirited attitude towards people they decided to bring into the world.
And the more I think about it, the more and more I think they are a pair of absolue chitstains and I've never really aknowledged it.
We just cancelled the flights anyway.

My parents have not once ever told me they love me, or showed any affection towards me (apart from my mother maybe once).
But I tell my kids I love them all the time, am tactile with them, spend time with them, drag them to the park every weekend etc. I'm not saying I'm the best Dad in the world by all means.
Even my parents parents showed more love than my parents. Only person that used to take me to the park was my gramps.
Perhaps there is some truth in this 'boomers'

My parents never outright say ‘I love you’ nor is hugging the norm either. We’re never touchy feely with eachother, same goes for my siblings. But my parents done more for me than I can ever repay them for. Stuck by me through my worst.I know they’d go to the ends of the earth for me if I had any problem.
