Nice suggestion. I do spend quite a bit on eating and going out. I'll consider this one for sure.

I will probably open another account somewhere. I'm not sure if it will be a credit card or something else. Honestly I'm entertaining the idea of buying a new car also.

Still sitting with my first CC which is a Capital One Platinum since 2017. I've been given offers to upgrade to QuickSilver, but I'm on the fence.

Credit Score is in the 750's. Any recommendations for my next card or should I stick with my current one?

Depends on your goals. I personally think a Chase Sapphire Preferred is the better option for you. $95 annual fee and a bunch of traveling perks that will pay for itself. It was my first card when I started churning cards. You have a solid credit score for it. Got a referral if you decide just PM me.

Also Chase Freedom is solid if you want to go for another cash back card.

It looks like the Platinum is just a basic card with no perks? If so, definitely move on to a new card. Leave the Platinum card open, just don't use it for anything. The QuickSilver is my main card, no fees and 1.5% cash back on everything.

Does anyone have a Chase Freedom Unlimited? Think I'm gonna apply for one so if anyone has a referral link you can get some extra cash.

I want to comment on this for foreign brahs moving to the U.S, or future American citizen hopefuls:

You can be a millionaire outside the U.S but none of that will matter at all unless that can be linked to your SSN. Your credit check is linked to that. So if you move to the U.S. and net say, 400,000 combined income with your spouse, you will be 'Jon Does' - unknowns. What you'll need to do is sink your salary into your account with Chase, and when you hit a marker (like 15,000 I think is the basic one) then they'll help you get a starter card.

You deliberately carry debt on that card and regularly pay it in order to develop your 'credit rating'. Although income matters, your ability to pay back debt and to consistently do so matters more (it seems).

I'm in this thread for recommendations in terms of 'the' card to get. I can't be like you brahs and carry around say, 3 cards (I carry a very, very nice Bottega Veneta wallet and a card holder) on top of what I need to carry. I want 'the' card. Chase said it's the Sapphire one (75k invested with them or 100k, I forget) and that they had a limited edition Platinum one that I would quickly qualify for.

More generally my question is: do you brahs actually carry multiple cards, buy different products/services with different cards, track miles/rewards, and so on? And, if so, is it worth it to you? This is coming from a fairly big spender, just one who is used to...doing a bank transfer to pay for something rather than cards.

So my favorite card, Uber Visa, is going to ****. They're taking away 4% back on dining, 2% back on online purchases, and statement credits along with other features. Anyone know the next best alternative with no annual fee?

The Chase Sapphire Reserve Annual Fee Is Increasing FYI.

JP Morgan Chase is trying to make their CSR profitable so they are increasing the annual fee.
Ever thought the high bonuses and huge perks offered by the Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card sounded too good to be true? It sounds like the honeymoon period is coming to an end: The annual fee for the card is going from $450 to $550 this year.

Rumors of an increase were confirmed by The Points Guy, which learned that the increase will start on January 12. If you already have the card and are slated to renew before April 1, 2020, you’ll be able to renew at the $450 rate; after April 1, everyone will pay the $550 annual fee.

The news comes on the heels of Chase and DoorDash announcing a partnership that gives some cardholders, including Reserve customers, access to a free DashPass membership.
https://twocents.lifehacker.com/the-...ing-1840881817

If you wanna churn this may be a good travel card.

Chase Marriott Bonvoy Boundless

https://creditcards.chase.com/a1/mar...dless/aep/100K

Requires $5k in spend within the first 3 months but note the restrictions.

I still think the Chase Sapphire Preferred and the Chase Ink Preferred are some fo the most balanced travel cards out there.

BTW the Chase Sapphire Preferred just rolled out the DoorDash subscription for its card holders so IDK why Chase has marketed that adding this to the CSR was a huge perk.

Do any of you have the Capitol One SavorOne?
If so, do you recommend it? Is Capitol One a good company?

I don't have SavorOne but I do recommend capitalone for people in the "building credit" stage. They don't fuk you on fees, and tend to give people with a lower credit score a shot. That was my first credit card 7+ years back when i had like a 540 credit score. I'm over 700 now but i still have that card open.

That said, i hear the Uber card is a strong offering as well for people that want a simple "one card to do it all" option.

I don't have that card (but I should look into it), but I do have a Cap One card. I have the Quick Silver card that is just 1.5% back on everything. I use it as my main card other than gas/dining/Amazon. But 2% groceries and 3% dining sounds good.

I don't have any complaints with CO as a company. I don't think I've ever had any problems with them.

So that glorious $500 annual fee hit my AmEx Platinum this month. I was joking with my friend "Time to call up and pretend i'm going to cancel so I get a reduced fee"

But then I started thinking about it. I'm quitting a job i had that had me flying to europe twice a year. So four 8-hour flights a year BEFORE any leisure travel. Definitely made sense to have it then for priority pass lounge access, in flight credits, and the hilton gold status was a nice perk.

As it stands now though... I don't foresee myself jumping on a plane that much in 2020. I might legitimately cancel the AmEx Plat unless they comp the whole annual fee. AmEx Gold should be fine to keep with the 4x back at restaurants, grocery stores, bars n chit but i'll have to crunch the numbers and see.

Think only if it’s your oldest card. Length of time credit line opened matters so it’s recommended you keep your oldest one always. I have mine from 18 that just sits in my drawer and I close any churned cards regularly.

Depends. But it goes down because your total line of cred (across all cards) has now dropped, and if you have any debt at all, your ratio will now be higher. Ex. You owe $1,500 and have 3 CC's totalling $15,000 = Debt ratio of 10%. If you close a CC with a $5,000 credit limit, your total is now $10,000 = Debt ratio of 15%. So you still owe the same amount, but your total available credit is now lower since you closed a card, hence a higher debt ratio.

Called to cancel the card, expected them to do a LITTLE haggling to keep me hooked on the platinum card...

...nope. They credited the $550 back to me and told me to get fuked lol. Oh well, still have my Gold card which is a pretty beasty points earner. Definitely going to consider paying for priority pass out of pocket though. No way i'm going back to waiting in public terminals during layovers like a pleb.

Edit. Sick amazon deal on Amex Gold good through July 2020

"DETAILS
Get 5 additional Membership Rewards points for each dollar spent on eligible purchases made using your enrolled Card online at Amazon.com by 7/22/2020. Limit of 2,000 Membership Rewards points."

So basically 5x points back up to $400 spent at Amazon. I can do that in a month.

Time to cancel the amex bonovoy card too. Signed up for this one 2 years ago just for the bonus. They sent me "oh hi, your annual free night stay certificate is now available"

fuking thing has a limit on hotel nights that are worth 35,000 points. That's like $110 dollars. Only good for bullchit airport hotels on a tuesday. What an absolute joke of an "anniversary reward"
