I know a lot of married guys that would probably cheat if they found a willing partner. Older guys like to flirt, I think it soothes their ego or something.

Been married 9 years this fall, cheating doesn't cross my mind but flirting and creating attraction always took effort from me so it's not like I'm exactly swatting women away daily

Idk how any man with test levels over 500 stays sane or how any female isn't looking for better options. Attractive females are always talking to other men and getting DM's too.
Is your GF talking to other men and getting DMs? I doubt she is based on what you say about her. If so, then you have a gem and you shouldn't be wanting to have 8/10s cold approach you.

Join Reddit. You won't be shocked by how prevalent it is. Just read a couple of the subs and you'll see exactly why.

I think there is a sweet spot for career/family life. If you have two professionals that work 50-60 hours a week (married to their job) they're likely spending more time with their Co workers than their own spouse.

If he takes his shot in the office after everyone else left, she would almost certainly take him up on it. Would even possibly catch feels too lmao

I believe it is true that many couples stay together when they should have split.

But it is alsotrue that many couples who split could have worked things out had they made better efforts.

I would not try to guess the relative proportions of the two.

There was that article earlier which said that divorce was less likely for those who married older rather than younger. Once you've had a few relationships or jobs, you get better at judging which will work for you. Sometimes that means looking back and saying, "Actually, I already had the perfect person/job when I was 21. Whoops." Luckily, there's more than one out there. There's a song by The Whitlams with the line, "she was one in a million, yeah, that means there's five more just in New South Wales."

Really, your 20s you can expect to spend bouncing around from person to person and hobby to hobby and job to job. That's fine. Hit around 30 and you should have a clearer idea of who and what you want in life. Depending on how you define the generation, many "millenials" haven't yet hit 30, and it won't be till most of them are 40 that we know how well they stick with things. Honestly, I think they'll be fine. Since I was a kid (in the 70s), there have been lots of changes socially, and so there are increased choices for people - more people have a tertiary education, women can have their own bank accounts, not only can you be openly gay but you can marry your same-sex boyfriend/girlfriend, and so on.

More choices means you need to try more things out before you settle down into some particular lifestyle. I think they'll take longer to choose, but once they've chosen, they'll be as loyal to their choices as any other generation. And we see that with the average age of first marriage going up, for example.

There’s a big difference

I think cheating isn’t happening in the majority of current relationships like most of you think.

You have to consider a lot of relationships fail. More fail than succeed. So yes looking at relationships individually there probably is a lot that fail because of cheating.

However the ones currently successful and going well? I’d argue the percentage is very low that cheating has occurred at any point and was swept under the rug or worked around.

I think most people who are cheating are genuinely unhappy in their current relationship and it’s not long to last.

Those of you who think people are going around cheating in perfectly happy relationships, hiding it, and continuing on like nothing happened to their partner are delusional.

It almost always happens because there’s problems, and those problems surface one way or another and the relationship ends.
I disagree man. A lot of relationships aren't deemed to failure until someone fuks up. Usually there healthy relationships are ruined by women.

If you ever immerse yourself with your woman's surroundings you'll see just how much pressure and encouragement there is for them to cheat.

They will pick up a woman's magazine like something respectable like Cosmo etc and there will be a list of reasons why they should cheat on their man and why it's ok.

They are influenced to have FOMO. fear of losing out. To the point of if they aren't cheating, then they are being robbed.

Not to mention movies, TV soaps, even music.

Who cares. You guys get so worked up on creating a false reality based on horror stories and live your life based on that.

Instead, focus on living a good life, marrying a woman you share goals and values with, and continuously work together on building a life around those goals and values.

Or just sit alone in your room weekend after weekend on tinder looking to bang a worthless whore and convince yourself that you are worth something by being overly sexually active with the degenerates of society. At least you aren't getting cheated on, RIGHT!?!?!

Based on the number of girls who have wanted me, I would say 95% of people cheat. If you deny this, you are being cheated on.

Lettuce be real tea, most people live with their heads in the sand... and for good reason... they just can't accept who they really are.

The amount of physical cheating is probably more prevalent than you'd think. But what is probably a wild statistic is the amount of emotional affairs that occur. Call it an unpopular opinion, but I don't think cheating is limited to physical acts.

I have never cheated myself, but I have been cheated on, and (unknowingly) been the guy that a few girls have cheated with, not a good feeling all around. I'm of the school of thought that if you desire someone else, end your current gig and go after that other person. But most people are afraid to leave the safety net of their relationship and would rather cheat.

Edit: ^^^ 95%...now that's just ridiculous.

This.

I am good looking and I actually don't give a fock about girls hitting on me all the time. Even have girls jaws dropping when I am with a date and then they try to talk to me. Just LOL at the jealousy and drama I have to put up with all the time.

Ugly people will jump at any average person who looks in their direction. Just LOL at the standards some people have.

Only a small percentage of people will actually know this...

They would if they could.

Many people are afraid to lose what they have actually.

For example, a lot of people are afraid to change jobs out of fear they will be last in first out.

The mindset is the main issue in relationships, is it not?

In many instances cheating is hidden and either never discovered or worked out privately by the couple. Especially in higher educated higher social class circles. Because they have much more to lose.

And a marriage counselor has an obvious selection bias. He only sees couples that want to do counseling and only couples that are in a breakdown of a relationship. He doesn’t see the couples who are stable while there is cheating because either the couple privately works it out or it’s never discovered. He sees only a very specific subset of couples, not the full range.

NOT SAYING all marriages involve cheating. Of course not. But I think it’s a significant percentage.

This.

I work as a consultant in a particular niche industry. Lots of consultants and other people in the industry I consult for travel for work. It's very, very common among people who travel a lot for this industry (I see it all the time on Fishbowl lol). I wouldn't be shocked if it was common among people who travel a lot for work, period. Which makes me think it's common overall. 50% or more where actual sex (oral, anal or vaginal) occurs wouldn't shock me, and "emotional" cheating would probably be like 80%. Flirting would probably be 98% or more.

Back when I was manwhoring it up, I used to bang a lot of women with boyfriends, fiances and husbands. I didn't give a fuk because if it wasn't me, it'd be some other guy.

EDIT: I regret being the homewrecker now, but when you're horny and dealing with a bad breakup, you do stupid ****

Pretty much. Just don't be what you despise. When you actively live your life the way you expect other's, you don't carry that burden. You also tend to attract others that share that same outlook. Just because a lot of people don't take responsibility for their actions doesn't mean that everyone else must dwell or will dwell in their misfortune.

When I was single after my divorce I slept with several married women. It was ridiculously easy to find them for hookups online. Almost the same story universally, neglected at home and husbands would rather play video games or surf the net than have sex with their wives. Or they knew their husbands had cheated and wanted revenge. And a couple of them were smoking hot.

It was a real eye opener into how some married women behave. More than once they would drive to my place, we would have some fun and then they would go and pick up their kids from school or go home like nothing had happened. One time a woman came over to bang me just before a gala event with her husband just because she wanted to see if he would even notice she reeked like sex. He apparently didn't.

In today's society it is ridiculously easy for a married woman to cheat. If they just put themselves out there they will have hundreds of offers within a day. Apps like Tinder just make it even easier.

I'd say a higher proportion of women in committed relationships cheat because they easily can. Men would more often if they could get away with it but it requires a ton more work.

I honestly thought it was just a media thing, seems every show has this sort of crap and it would irritate me at the way Hollywood seems to normalize cheating. I just can't imagine ever doing that. Kinda depresses me how common it is, even among people with kids. Crazy how people hide their true feelings until bam.
Virtue is its own reward.

Misc is full of people who thinks half the world cheats on each other.. They see one bad story and then it reflects on everything else. I've been cheated on in my last relationship but overall it made me more cautious, it didn't make me think every girl i get with is going to cheat on me and it didn't make me think most people are cheaters either.. Just the selected few who're messed up.

I wasn't talking about just marriages or even you in general i was talking about most the misc population (didn't name anyone) Most threads you see of people who have issues with their other half always get responses like "shes cheating" etc when it might not be the case. They just automatically assume that's happening and i think that also because of what goes around these forums in terms of people cheating and whatnot.
