MLS is rapidly expanding, bunch of new teams and clubs are being made all over the US, big name international players are being signed onto MLS and the sport is growing

But it wont. American would probably be decent if they had the same enthusiasm as many countries in europe and worldwide, but honestly, whatever reason they dont like sports outside their own homegrown ones like their "football" for instance.

You can't go from giant steroid heads, beyonce at half-time, commercials every 30 seconds etc, to actually sitting down for 90 minutes and being able to appreciate the genius of a Messi or Zidane.
yeah costwise, its literally impossible for it to cost 2k to play soccer/football. I never played to adulthood, but stopped in my teens. Bought new pair of boots and team clothes probably for 100 quid max. If there are more fees, they are negligible, and no club will charge 1000s lol

Yea I played soccer my whole life through college as well, and a little bit after.

Soccer is the most popular sport in the world for a reason. It is the one sport that allows the most freedom. It is very difficult physically.

However, the one problem is that soccer is becoming less and less contact. Sounds odd to people that have never played a competitive game, but soccer is quite physical. Not in terms of American football or rugby, obviously, but you won't walk away from a competitive game without feeling like your body is completely wrecked. You're in constant contact with opponents and will have bruises, cleat marks, etc.

The issue is that the culture is turning more and more to diving, flopping, getting tapped and rolling around half of the field and crying for red cards. Every sport is becoming soft. Football you can't do half of the **** you used to do, basketball you can't breath too close to someone without getting a foul, and now soccer you go in for a hard tackle and it's an automatic yellow card. It's almost making soccer unwatchable for me.

Competition is being destroyed and no one is saying or doing anything about it. Every sport is becoming cucked.

Soccer has a decent player base 6-10 years old. After that everyone disappears.

The cost is the travel and lodging expense...

Because we don't have a big enough play base the stacked teams dominate everyone else so they have to travel a long freaking ways to get tournaments.

Great sport for kids imo.

That and swim team are really popular in my area.

lol @ Americans thinking they will dominate football as they do sports no one else plays.

Football is the world sport and it;s only going to get harder to be a top level team. When you can beat Asian teams get back to me.

Tried to watch the NFL opener. Couldn't even make it past the first quarter.

Stoppages, penalties, time outs, commercial breaks, announcers blabbing on.

By the time an actual play happened, I lost interest.



Maybe the US needs more rugby to toughen us up.

Other countries criticizing us for not caring about their "futbal" and even getting mad because we call it soccer. They are really going to be mad when the US starts winning world cup after world cup if it does get popular.

1. Large diverse population = chance of more talented players.
2. Resources for talented players to increase their skills = advantage of refining talents.
3. Money, tons of money to back these players.
4. With more money involved, soccer no longer is a sport you play as a kid and then branch off into real sports, if it becomes a real sport.
5. Did I mention money? Soon we start recruiting the best talent from other countries who will come here for the big bucks.

Result = Unstoppable Team USA.

Proof: Soccer is only a blip on the radar and look how far we have come so far?

Already did... OUR PLAYER base moves to other sports after 10 years old.

Beyond that if you look at population density the Brazil vs America land mass isn't the same.

Did I ever say it would be? I told you why America's decent clubs were expensive. Most of the good players leave for other sports by the time they are 10. The remaining clubs are too widely dispersed for low travel costs.

That is not how population density works chief.

US pro sports are all watered down garbage. The golden age of NBA, NFL, and even the MLB are long gone. Brb 3 minutes of commercials for every 1 minute of gametime. Brb gotta replay every referee decision because we don't even know what the rules are even more. It's even infiltrated college sports so that they aren't even watchable. Absolute cuckery brought to you by the highest bid from the latest megacorporation.

At least you get to watch an actual game in soccer. I'll take *******s rolling around faking an injury (which happens all the time in NFL and NBA nowadays just lmao @ this argument) over the commercials telling me I need to buy doritos, a piss can of beer, and a viagra for my nonexistent boner.

Can never see it truly really taking off though - as has been said before re; the vast distances etc that'd involve flying etc and that'd not help preperation - unless you went 3 days before a match if your talking say East to West Coast and then the week is over before the weekend and next set of fixtures

In theory I agree with the National Play Off being good as an idea - but imagine if this was in England or other smaller Countries and rivals like Man u and Chelsea never met par for this - I'd hate that idea then!1
