I've read the whole Joe Ledger series by Johnathon Mayberry a couple of times, you can get through them in a couple of days, and a few of the Rot and Ruin series. Ass kickery and Zombies.

The Jack Reacher series are pretty good too, i'm up to about No 9 but I've missed a couple. They do get a bit repetitive.

Harry potter is a good series to get into. Blow the films out of the water.

I was blown away by it.

As corny as it sounds, from the first chapter I felt like the lead was a real person, due to his vivid description of his character's temperament, reactions, and values. And his description of the US in 1950s and 1960s was almost tangible.
Cosmos by Sagan is solid gold as well for a non-fiction book.
The last chapter is one of the most moving things I've read, about the value of human life.

I don't get pleasure out of reading like most do, but I do like books that educate me/expand my interests. I'll never read another paperback for example.

The true power of books comes from allowing your mind to grow by exploring new avenues and paths with which to construct or deconstruct scenarios/worlds/ideas. Your vocab, diction and general cognitive ability are improved when you read fiction. Fantasy, sci-fi, literary fic etc...

Having some dude spoon feed you an idea through a self help book is laughable.
