The little kid who eventually went mental. Many people didn't like his performance at the time, but I didn't mind, and I minded it less and less after I saw HC playing teenage goth Anakin.

I think they are going to pull some wild/crazy twist in this to try and salvage. I still say that Rey is Kylo's sister and daughter of Han and Leia. How they work the story to fit that would be challenging, but its my prediction.
They could salvage it, but it would involve killing off Kylo, and I doubt that happens.

he was deuteragonist to obiwan, this is just a hint of the structural nightmare that could only loosely be described as a fukin "story"

the plot is a mixture of a dozen writers' harried fever dreams

One could argue that Hayden was slightly better in the 3rd than the 2nd....while I agree his performance in 2 wasn't great (this is not entirely his fault either, the screenplay itself is partly to blame with its various issues). But I don't think most sat through Revenge of the Sith thinking "man, how bad is this actor of Anakin" the whole time. Obviously the acting wasn't great, but this didn't ruin the movie for me.... in fact I thought ROTS was rather strong, carrying an excellent tone and containing a good amount of emotion throughout (my slight quarrels would be the battle of Kashyyyk not done well, almost as an afterthought, and the final lightsaber battles a little too drawn out).

Binks....eh I dunno. One could say he had a place in the first movie, as cringe as some of it was. And for sure he was annoying. The main problem for me is there is an awkward shift from him being prominent in the first movie to almost not even seen in the other two, despite being somehow a full blown representative/senator. Not smooth storytelling in that aspect, from a trilogy perspective. This stuff for me is relatively minor though.....the Disney movies don't hold a candle to the prequels imo.

I'd bet it won't even go to Netflix, Disney+ on the other hand...

I don't even blame him any more, it's more of George's writing. Take any of their line's and it can be pretty bad, Natalie Portmans in particular.

Um, what? The prequels had some of the worst writing I've ever witnessed in film. Even when I first saw The Phantom Menace when I was 15, I thought it was a huge letdown and barely watchable outside of Darth Maul and Natalie Portman. The Attack of the Clones, on the other hand, has no redeeming qualities. I liked the Revenge of the Sith when it first came out, but it hasn't aged that well. In fact, the prequels in general haven't aged well (not that they were good in the first place) because of the overuse of late 90s/early 2000s CGI.

Didn’t get the hype for that one either. A dull uninspired movie with forgettable characters, besides that robot. Skipped the entire second half of Rogue One just to watch Vader kill some rebels. Best scene in all of Disney Star Wars

Crazy that I'll be skipping a Star Wars movie, never would have thought it possible.

If only the movies were 1/10th as good as the trailers.

The only way to save this franchise is to cast Jason Genova for the role he was born to play: Dark Sith Lord Spaniard.

And then do a fan service and give us what we all want: A 15 second sex scene with him and Natalie Portman that ends with him busting all over his own chest.

I know some feel the way they do about the prequels but this new sequel trilogy is undisputedly hot garbage in comparison. Films that think that original trilogy fan service and unoriginal carbon copying (far worse than George Lucas' rhyming of the OT and PT), nonsensical story and character choices that completely break continuity and SJW fingerprints make for a great Star Wars film. I'm a diehard SW fan so I'll be watching this dumpster fire til the end and somewhat hoping that the "Rey is Anakin" fan theory winds up being true but not holding my breath for anything salvageable at this point.

Disney wanted to make a film trilogy "for the fans". George wanted to tell his story. Honestly I think the difference in inspiration is evident.

Yes angery. Yes super salty over the new trilogy.

Wishful thinking imo. Every movie of the new trilogy thus far has been lackluster. Imo it's an impossible order to somehow magically fix everything within the context and limits of one film of 2 hours and change. There's too much that needs addressing.

Well the point is that George has always said that SW was the story of Anakin Skywalker. His rise, fall and redemption through his son. Episodes 1-6 told that story thoroughly and in completion. As far as I know he didn't have any real desire to continue that story since it was finished in his own mind, Disney wanted it and threw money at him so he sold it.

He came up with the sequel trilogy before he sold it. Then he sold it. Now he's upset that Disney never used his story for the ST.

Apparently it included more midichlorians and that the force is biological. I'm not sure his story would've been any better. But he did include an old hermit depressed Luke Skywalker

The difference is Marvel movies have been mostly decent or better as a whole since Iron Man 1, so i expected endgame to be decent or better

New star wars doesn't have the same decent foundation to go off of

But hey, EP9 very well could be a masterpiece. They won't be getting my money though

I see. I knew about the sequel drafts but didn't realize he had any intent behind them before Disney.

Tbh if they had just adapted the Expanded Universe stuff to film that would've been really neat. Instead of kind of bastardizing the whole Jacen vs. Jaina solo brother-sister feud.

You expect me to believe that several decades after the near total destruction of the Empire, somehow "the resistance" is barely scraping by? Now there's all these random TIE fighters and Star Destroyers. How did they somehow miss all of that? According to lore both the Sith (under the Empire's rule) and the Jedi (Republic) have been at war for many thousands of years. They have searched out every nook and cranny of the galaxy by now but somehow missed all of that? Or better yet who is commandeering the entire fleet? It takes a battalion of Imperials to make even one SD function, lol. Chit writing is chit.

The Force is Midichlorians >>>>> The Force is Female

On paper, Lucas’ outline sounds retarted. If he did go through with production, though, I’m sure he’d have the sense to hire another director and just oversee the project, just to add that magic Lucas touch that made Star Wars Star Wars. The prequels would’ve been masterpieces in comparison if he hadn’t directed.

I remember Ron Howard(Apollo 13, Willow, Solo) was approached to do The Phantom Menace but he turned it down.
