Not really surprised by that, it's a really nice campus and significantly more personal. So there's a strong possibility I will have both kids there next year (son is a FR there right now).
Google the tuition if you want to see how frightening that prospect is. Son got about $16k in merit scholarships and she'll probably get at least that. But that's gonna leave a mark. I'll be eating more ramen noodles than they will be.

My son is doing a 5 year program for accounting (includes Master's) and if he does what he should do, he should be able to land a great job and be highly employable. Daughter isn't quite sure, but will probably do at least the accounting degree. We've had a lot of talks about it with both of them. It's a significant amount of money, but we're happy to invest it if they will commit to making it work for them. And that while we'll try to "help" them beyond that, this is the last hurrah for them to get the tools to launch and that my wife and I plan to significantly slow down in the next 5 years or so.
It will be good for both of them in numerous ways. Already seeing it with our son. Hopefully, they will pay it forward when it's their turn.

If I could go back and do it again, I would have looked into this more. I went through and got my bachelor's degree in accounting, but sitting for the CPA exam requires more college credit hours than you get with a bachelor's degree. I was too dumb to look into this and figure it all out before my last year and I was dead set on graduating, but the school also offered a similar 5 year program that would have you graduating eligible for a CPA. I wanted to get out and start working and earning and paying down some of the debt amassed while in school, telling myself I'd always go back to finish up some extra coursework for the requirements...but I found it a lot harder to go back the longer I was out. There's still plenty you can do with just a degree in accounting, but obviously you're better off with a CPA to go with it.

I wasn't planning on seeing Midway. Looked like it was going to be like Pearl Harbor redux.
But a bunch of dudes on arfcom are saying it was really good (outside of some cheese factor but not as much as was imagined). May have to consider actually going to see it now.

A friend made a post on ******** asking for recommendations of either a shotgun or rifle "before Virginia tries to unconstitutionally remove my rights".
I suggested he should definitely get an AR15, saying that they're easier to shoot and reload than handgun/shotgun. Also 5.56 is less likely to penetrate walls than buckshot and handgun rounds.
A different person, some boomer fudd replies to my comment:
I was about to just reply "ok boomer" but I decided to ask him why, specifically, he thinks that.

A different person, some boomer fudd replies to my comment:
The idea that a 5.56 mm AR 15 round is less likely to penetrate an outer wall of a home than a 12 gauge shotgun round is not just laughable but utterly ridiculous. For home defense, you can legitimately argue weather a handgun is preferable to a shotgun. But it’s hard to imagine a situation where a rifle would be preferable to either a handgun or shotgun. That said, semi-auto rifles are far more likely to be banned than either high caliber revolvers or shotguns. So, I would suggest that’s the way to go now, if you genuinely want to purchase ahead of a possible ban. ARs are very good rifles. And good ones can be found for cheap - less than $500 for a Bushmaster or DPMS Panther.
Though my personal favorite would be an FN-FAL style .308. Or, ideally, you’d have multiple firearms, including handguns, shotguns, and long guns.
