Looks like a good exercise but I can only do this on the smith machine in my gym. Just squat racks and no power racks.

I do lots of OHP and side laterals with all sorts of weights and I think it builds my shoulders incredibly. My shoulders/upper back is my only half decent body part lmao.

Bro i think there is no need to defend the back squat, its not like its Arnold fukin Schwarzenegger talking **** about them and you care about proving him wrong.

At this point you basically just shrug it off and go on with your day.

Now my genetics for my shoulders has been pretty sweet so it's been going hella good, also incline supported facepulls as well but that's on a pull day. I did however see one bloke doing this exact exercise and I was wondering what he was doing, he was literally doing about 100kg but I think the safety bar was abit more higher then yours actually is so he had less range of motion on the actual exercise.

All I'm trying to do right now is to just build strength on my upper body and shoulders as previously stated by also get that boulder, wide look. Pretty much doing PPL of x3 strength/x3 hypertrophy. If you got any and all advice to further my advancement, I'm all keen on listening. Also on hypertrophy training days, I'm mostly using a very slow concentration during the range of motion just to further add more tension into the delts.
A great option for a push day would be the same thing I'm doing but one incline notch lower. Still is going to hit delts, but it's also going to bring more chest into it.
Even if your goal is strength, I still think braced makes more sense in terms of getting the intended muscle to create the most force.

Pretty much all meat and potatoes stuff is a top working set of 5-8 (4-6 on squats and pulls) and then a backoff set of 8-12

Less moving parts and better bracing allows for more output. You can't fire a cannon from a canoe

Standing OHP, push press and bradford press are my fav overhead movements.

I like to mix things up.

Lol well no. But I just hate direct ab work to be honest. Is that a good enough reason? I've never argued with the fact that it shows lol

Ahh, gotcha. Ever upped the reps in the meat and potatoes (8-12)? Or are you specifically looking to bolster strength production to a greater degree by staying around 5?

Probably better exercises if you are concerned with risk to reward. Reverse pec deck and bent over flys have got a many people swole rear delts

I rarely do OHP movements but I can still do 225x8 on incline bench so I think I'm hitting my shoulders pretty good

Pretty much this. Much better options for rear delts. Rear delt focused rows or pull downs are a great option as well as reverse pec dec

I think people would benefit more from prioritizing lagging body parts instead of trying to compensate: need more side delt? Hit a lateral variation as the first exercise in your push/ delt workout. Same with rear delt. A1 in your workout doesn’t HAVE to be a press

Not really for the main exercises. Strength is a bonus, but progressing loads in that 6-10 range is the perhaps most efficient for hypertrophy imo and my observations from smarter individuals

Overall physical consistency of development is apparently overrated,

Doing an exercise 1nce and finding that it's aneasiervariation proves it's better, and that you're stronger.

Just say that you're tired of OHP as many people are, and get over it, stop trying to justify your weakness of spirit with bravado, it's sad.

They're not my favorite exercise for shoulders, but the OP is an idiot for saying they're a waste of time.

Entering this thread...was an actual waste of time.

I wasn't referring to push press; more the people who do sets of OHP and then 'grind' the last few however they can. Like people booping with their knees when they curl or shrug etc.

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Lateral raises > OHP
An overhead press movement should be a staple still.
