Looks like a fun exercise, will try these OP.

Ya, I do seated OHP currently because it's easier on my lower back, I feel like its more targeted/isolated. I have a bad back, gotta be real careful.

What angle do you have the bench at?

I don't think many people say they're a great dealt builder. It's just a good movement for general pressing strength.

I broke through some barriers with DB press by adding some seated Push Presses in the mix. They have their use.

I enjoy it. My push day is:

Flat barbell bench
Standing ohp
dumbbell bench (deep, below chest level)
tricep extensions
close grip flat barbell bench

I'd rather do standing ohp and get some core work in with shoulders/triceps. I think a full body movement always beats an isolated movement when it is something so similar. You gain much more than you lose.

It's one click below vertical. Not only does it feel better on my the shoulders, but it also really puts the front delt in a great alignment to do work

Haha preesh , thanks brah! People ITT a bit rustled over some click bait. There are obviously instances where the standing OHP is a great option, whether it’s overall strength or just bc someone enjoys it

Not really, the arm path and angle is putting my front delt fibers in great alignment with the line of force.

How is your back "bad"?
Probably just chit form with a weak core/stabalizers.

OT: Seated OHP is great for keeping them strict, full tension on targeted muscles. You can't cheat them because you can do a push press. But no core engagement.
Standing OHP does the above plus added core stabilization.

I don't give a **** if you don't want a 6 pack or whatever your excuse is.
If your core cannot stabilize you, and you refuse to work on it (by doing seated exercises) then you're going to have issues now or later on.

And because yours are so great? And how is it one of 'the best shoulder exercises'? WTF does that even mean? Best for what? Size? Strength? Comparing dink size? There is no 'one best exercise' for anything

How does a full body movement always beat an isolated movement? As I pointed out with the other poster, how can one exercise 'beat' another? How is it beating it? When it comes to building mass? Gaining strength? Improving stability? Context matters here guys.

Thanks for taking a whole squat rack to do an exercise where you can clean the bar from the floor. People who use the rack for OHP are the biggest *******s.

You must have missed the pause on the rack each rep. Also gym is dead at 2 pm. Also, there's two other racks. Also, barely anyone here squats more than 2 plates, so they can just clean that up too

Nah man, you're core be strong af than.
Rectus abdominus (6-pack muscle) only allows trunk flexion.
TVA, Obliques, Multifidi, Intercoastals, Erectors, QL, couple other small muscles all work synergistically to protect and support the spine.
