When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

We aren't really allowed guns in UK. You can get a shotgun license but I myself would struggle to get one, you kinda NEED a reason to own a shotgun.
I have basic, lightweight melee weapons in the room. Not enough to necessarily kill but better than just using your dick.

History of sleepwalking so it scares me to have a pistol close to my bed.
The weirdest thing I've ever experienced is waking up in the pitch dark standing in the middle of my bedroom. Fukin mind trip.

The most powerful and useful home defense tool of all - a dog
A gun won’t do much if someone does sneak in to your house and points their own at you or gets a knife on you first. While I think the chances of this happening are slim to none, and I do feel confident in confronting any would be intruder at hand to hand range, I do sometimes keep a spiked hammer I have close by because it would be intense to beat someone with it.
The problem with a gun as a weapon is also exposing yourself to a lot of problems after use. My dad had to beat up four drug/drunk loiterers once and he took a regular hammer with him incase one of them pulled a knife. His reasoning was that you can justify carrying around a tool but would have a much harder time explaining why events unfolded to the point where you had to shoot someone, of course, within ones own home in some states is a different story.
