Biopsy results, hubby has skin cancer :(

I don’t how worried I should be.

When he gets a certain rash he’s supposed to put a cream on it to eat the skin that could be cancerous but he neglected that in three places (the one on his shoulder is the worst) and for a couple months now the spot on his nose, back and shoulder got worse. They burned some of it off but now the have to cut out the skin then pull it together to sew it up. He works with really gnarly hazardous materials and it worries me how little time he is going to take off and the plastic surgery that will follow. We have his this kids half the time and they need him so badly because the ex is zero support and will probably try to use this against us when we go for full custody in January of the 16 year old.

Cliffs:
Ops freaking out about husbands skin cancer

Husband seems fine and not worried

There’s kids to be worried about being taken care of

Union grants more time off for recovery but contracting company doesn’t and ops worried about stitches and the hazardous materials hubby works with

Ops wondering if anyone else has any first hand experience with this and how much to worry, what if it gets in his blood stream or something?

It is out of your control. It all depends on how advanced it is. Just be there for him.

You realise she's being serious about this right? pretty dick response to a serious situation like this one. Rethink what you're saying.

OP, I don't know much about skin cancer but honestly if he addresses it before it gets to its advanced stage then he should be fine. Cancer in its own form mostly attacks a body that is very acidic meaning all the acidic foods you eat just piles up in the general body temple, so if he's eating constant acidic food of LOW PH and no alkaline balance and he's constantly dehydrated then his situation is going to get worse. Best thing you can honestly do right now is just to make sure he eats properly from here on out (if he hasn't been already).

I'm sure the bloke will be alright though but as Wincel said, it does also depend on the severity of the skin cancer. He's not worried because he doesn't want you to worry and that's understandable, I respect the bloke alot. Just focus on your kids and each other and don't worry about your ex, if he tries to do some shady **** then you guys will get through it because he'd obviously have no grounds to take custody of your children due to the fact that they're not even living in a harmful environment. Your kid will be fine, just focus on your hubby.

Best of luck with this

skin cancer is different than other forms of cancer, you just get the specific area cut out srs it won't spread into organs like others

I'm sorry to hear and welcome to the caretaker club. Hold onto your butt. As I've learned, patients rarely act how you think is the most rational way. They say and do weird things for reasons you won't be able to make sense of.

Are you going to the oncology appointments with him? If you are going to be a caretaker, you should go so you can understand the Dx fully and get your questions answered. Cancer is a giant mindfukk and you aren't going to get accurate, objective details from the patient.

He used to be so good about drinking ph water and now it’s harder, he gets stressed and eats crappy even when I try to cook for him and pack a lunch, he stress eats like Taco Bell and is always popping tums :/ so the acid thing makes sense and ya today when we found out, I took him over to one of the casino resorts and we just chilled in the pools and hot tubs while it snowed and the 16 year old baby sat, we aren’t telling the kids, my biggest worry is him going under and if the surgery to remove it isn’t enough, he did say it can spread to his blood stream.

I’ll start going I haven’t been.

He doesn’t want to stress me out with it and he’s the type to be like I take care of you, he helped me through addiction to alcohol years ago and it was a pretty bad mess.

I know he’s not letting on how bad it is by looking at it, but this is his second time doing it. I wish he ate better. And let on about the dangers of things. I want to know his bp and cholesterols and see labs but he says all is good, we both are taci from birth too and worried if that could affect going under. It looks so bad on his back

Take a picture of the cancer and post it. There is a way to tell, but it isn't always easy. If it is whiteish with blood vessels running around over it kind of like roots on a tree, it is probably basal. If it is a firm, smooth, or hardened and crusty lump, then it is likely squamous.

If its melanoma thats bad. The other types are less of a concern. There's one type that is basically harmless. You have to find out what type he has and look it up.

is this real? cancer on both shoulder and face?

which part is cancer? it cant travel through skin that far.

there are two types also, malignant and benign.

benign tumors wont break off into the blood stream, they are safe.

Oh I know he will but he’ll be in an arm sling at least for a week so he’ll need some help there, at least he’s letting me do the driving in case he has to take meds and will be forced to relax because (before we knew) booked us a short cruise for his bday/Xmas so post surgery rest and reading and hot tubs and better food than Taco Bell

Ah of course not, kids might still be too young to hear of such news but even now you don't know the severity of the cancer so I wouldn't worry too much. Sounds like an awesome family time to be honest. But yeah he needs to get that eating under control, the cancer will feed on that acidic body temple like it's an all-you-can eat buffet and it'll go from bad to worse. There should be improvement if he atleast has that acidic/alkaline balance in his system, he needs to understand that his wellbeing is now at stake so it's not a choice of ''should I'' it's now a question of ''Why aren't I''. I honestly don't think it will spread unless it is diagnosed as the cancer type that does actually spread to nearby organs but as long as that bodytemple is acidic, acidosis piled with dehydration is going to be his fatality if he doesn't turn it around.

100% srs

Do everything his doctor says, however,

If you live in a legal state,
Go to a dispensary and buy hash oil, aka rick Simpson oil or honey oil (all the same thing) and use it as a topical ointment. Spread some onto a bandage and apply directly to the skin cancer. Reapply 2-3 times daily and keep it on 24/7 until it goes away within a few weeks.

He will not get stoned in any way or fail a drug test.

Yes i have seen it work many times first hand on skin cancer diagnosed from a biopsy. I've seen "patients" cancel surgery because the skin cancer healed.

Not a doctor but I recommended this to my own mom, who is very prone to basil cell skin cancer. Worked every time and she no longer gets them surgically removed.

All you can eat is better than 2 chewy bars for breakfast, Taco Bell for lunch, twister tea after work, then normally a slightly more balanced meal unless we go out then it’s something like Texas road house, I push pho and sushi. Tomorrow I am buying a bunch of ph water and keep trying to pack better snacks for during the day, he likes trail mix and those little fruit cups, chewy bars, string cheese and hard boiled eggs. Some job sites he can use the little portable crock pot I got him and I pack soups and rice with protein and veggie

Sorry to read that OP... I read now that his job is supposed to be connected with the medical condition. That could be a way out and even change your economical situation.
Remind him that taking care of himself is also a responsibility towards you and the children anyway... health is more important than money and time is precious in these cases. He should recover completely before going back to work and follow the Dr. recommendations in the future.
I don't have direct experience but I know that only malignant melanomas can spread to other organs.

All the best.

Looks like squamous, but I am NOT a doctor. OK so the hope is that u caught this very early. If so, it can be treated quite easily.

If it spreads, unfortunately, that won't be very good. Your husband's future is now in the hands of the surgery/radiation team. Keep your head up, and be strong for him. Hopefully some misc doctors can take a look at the pics.

I'm sorry your husband has been diagnosed with skin cancer. Which type/s of skin cancer does he have? Did they say he needs a CT scan or MRI to check for metastasis?

Yes but it gets in your skin and it’s not your normal fiber glass, and the metal work ek! When he comes home I can’t touch him till he showers and I don’t have sensitive skin, attic fiber glass doesn’t bother me at all. And he works with chemicals

As far as I know they burned it after he used a cream to try and eat away the bad skin cells, then did a lab biopsy which came back positive in three places, no scans as far as I know

His biopsy came back positive for what kind of skin cancer? If they didn't get clean margins, they have to get in there and cut the cancer out. Some skin cancers can get pretty deep and require surgical removal in order to achieve clean margins. He ought to get a second opinion.
